I do most of the cooking at home, which is fine. My husband will do some basic meals, also fine.
Tonight I made some Korean vegetable pancakes that my girls like. Also made some pork.
As my husband doesn't like the pancakes, I asked what veggies he'd like to do for himself.
He proceeded to boil some mushrooms!
I'm genuinely horrified. He said he likes them.
Is this a thing? Do people eat plain boiled mushrooms?
What ways of cooking foods weird you out?

I LOVE mushrooms, will put them in most dishes (within reason), but boiled? No chance 🤢

Pointpoint · 09/01/2025 22:29

Your DH could be friends with my friend who eats mushrooms raw as a snack

BitOutOfPractice · 09/01/2025 22:29

Mmmm mushroom slime!

SaulHudsonDavidJones · 09/01/2025 22:28

I added mushrooms to a Japanese noodle and veg broth I made tonight. They were lovely.

NoSourDough2 · 09/01/2025 22:28

I’m sure Chinese food has boiled mushrooms, it’s what gives them the squishy consistency (which I love…might be on my own there!)

Blongers · 09/01/2025 22:28

Boiled? Wtf LTB

I'm here for the recipe

TheTruthHurtsDontIt · 09/01/2025 22:27

Today you learned your husband is actually an alien pretending to be human.

CatchHimDerry · 09/01/2025 22:27

@WellsAndThistles came here to say this, my nan used to cook in milk now I do it on occasion. Love me a mushroom 🍄

AwaitingFreedom · 09/01/2025 22:26

I can eat a whole bowl full of mushrooms but they need to be fried or baked in butter. Or a sauce. But just water?? Ewwwwwwww

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 09/01/2025 22:26

Placemarking for the Korean pancakes...

SweedieLie · 09/01/2025 22:25

Eww. Like tasteless, rubbery slugs I bet.

Just dry frying in a pan, or airfrying, with salt and pepper would have been so much better.

I'm also here for more information about the Korean pancakes 🤞🏿

Oh and LTB x

LittleRedRidingHoody · 09/01/2025 22:24

That's how they cook loads of mushrooms you find at all you can eat breakfast type things in hotels 😂

That being said, I would never commit the sacrilege myself - fried off in butter and garlic is the only way 😋

WellsAndThistles · 09/01/2025 22:24

Mushrooms poached whole in milk are a thing I think. I wouldn't boil them though, that's weird!

NoSourDough2 · 09/01/2025 22:23

I add mushrooms in a chicken soup….just throw them in.. boiled??

fivebyfivebuffy · 09/01/2025 22:23

When I was a carer someone asked for boiled celery. She tried to convince me it was nice, but I don't even like celery to start with!

Longbenton · 09/01/2025 22:22

He's probably sick of living with a pretentious wife. Just give him egg n chips next time.

Commonsense22 · 09/01/2025 22:21

I'd like boiled mushrooms. Nothing weird about it imo. I don't make them that way but would be fine with it.

MolluscMonday · 09/01/2025 22:21

Not sure about boiled. I love raw mushrooms though.

I’d like more information on the Korean pancakes please 😁

ExtraOnions · 09/01/2025 22:19
