There are huge rare earth mineral resources in Greenland that can potentially be exploited now that the ice cap is melting. This is about enriching the Trump family, nothing else. He will run the US as a kleptocracy and use the power of the state purely to increase his family's wealth. Musk, Zuckerberg, Bezos and all the rest of the bro-billionaires are lining up like good little oligarchs for a piece of the action.

ILikeDinosaurs · 11/01/2025 00:01

I've just realised that Trump, Musk, Fartage and Pootin are all names relating to bad smells coming from the nether regions.

Dr Evil and Mini Me

Here they come 😬

only based on what you assume, whos to say the usa does not have classified research stations there or classified military bases etc sometimes i weep for the public

The USA does have a base there.

Mush62 · 10/01/2025 22:56

Kenway · 08/01/2025 21:24

it adds context to why trump presumes they have more of a claim to greenland, especially if they have the bases or research stations etc

They have base's here, does that give Trump the right to invade our country then. Wake up and smell what you're shovelling mush!!!

Scariest part of this is that he won't commit to not not using military force to take control of Greenland.

Although the Danish foreign minister seems to be keeping a cool head. He said
""I think we can all do ourselves a favor and turn down the pulse a little bit,” he added. “I have my own experiences with Donald Trump, and also know that it is not everything you think that you should say aloud."

We don't need them, didn't in 1939-41, don't need them now, yanks are over rated!

Never heard of Destroyers for Bases and Lend Lease?

We wouldn't have done anywhere as well without US pre Pearl Harbour support and of course all the non war supplies like food and materials they were selling us from 1939 onwards. The US Navy even escorted convoys to the UK prior to their entry into the war and several US ships were attacked by the German Navy.

Musk can piss off with his shit stirring and his tweets about liberating the uk from our government. Greedy guts wanting his orange friend to mine the shit out of Greenland for nickel & cobalt because Tesla can't meet the battery demand to stop it from going down the pan.

Minerals and Rare Earth Elements (REEs):

Rare Earth Elements (REEs):

Greenland is rich in REEs, which are critical for modern technologies such as smartphones, electric vehicles, wind turbines, and military equipment.

Kvanefjeld (Kuannersuit) in southern Greenland is a notable deposit of REEs, along with uranium and zinc.

Iron Ore and Zinc:

Greenland hosts deposits of iron ore and significant zinc reserves, particularly in areas like Citronen Fjord.

Gold and Platinum-Group Metals:

There are indications of gold and precious metals, though exploitation is in preliminary stages.

I have no idea if they have or haven't, it's still a Nato country, if they go in we will have to go in also, remember Grenada?

the usa helped us in WW2

PerkingFaintly · 08/01/2025 21:33

I mean, Scotland had the fish, but this is... a whole new disturbing level.

I read the thread title and thought you were asking about a weird aftershave.

Ew, yes – and not in a good way.

I'm not sure I want to know the name of the next person to join the Government of Bodily Odours.

littletesco · 08/01/2025 21:25

@crockofshite yes he inherited 3 emerald mines. Also his father is a billionaire.

I didn't know that, I thought he made his money

littletesco · 08/01/2025 21:32

Quote from his father, 2020 article before Musk started denying his wealth was not self made from scratch;

"... As a result of this, the teenage Elon Musk once walked the streets of New York with emeralds in his pocket. His father said: “We were very wealthy. We had so much money at times we couldn’t even close our safe,” adding that one person would have to hold the money in place with another closing the door. “And then there’d still be all these notes sticking out and we’d sort of pull them out and put them in our pockets.”

I did read the whole thread. Where did you give an example of a “good business man”.

You weren’t very gracious in acknowledging to a PP that you were wrong about the inherited wealth either.

I'll try to make sure I'm more 'gracious' in future. Perhaps you could be less judgemental.

Given Musk has lost a 1/3rd of his wealth in the recent past, I think that would cast a light on his business sense. But maybe he's rich enough not to care.

And a list of good budiness men - i could but actually what's the point when this is a thread about Musk.

Mush62 · 08/01/2025 21:26

OneLemonDog · 07/01/2025 23:51

It is concerning.

We knew that a Trump presidency likely meant the end of the US being willing to intervene in the defence of NATO allies. I dont think many seriously predicted threats of invasion by the US of NATO countries.

Is Musk tasking his Russian friends with infiltrating Mumsnet to start several threads a day to discuss him?

The oxygen needs to be turned off. For what it's worth, I think Trump might have gone too far now with his comments on Canada and Greenland.

No country can exist in isolation, despite following attempting to follow that policy, he may find he's united all against him before he's even started.

I look forward to everyone collectively telling him to fuck off and hit him where it hurts with trade.

Sick of seeing his face and name this past few weeks.
