Off the lead and enjoying a run around, we were the only people in that area of the national trust park,
It was closed to cars and not many people brave (or stupid) enough to walk.

We stumbled upon a lovely little family of snowmen,
however the one that she could reach was a really small but brilliant feathers McGraw with a carrot for a beak. I was going to take a photo and realised she's pinched his beak and ate it!

She's never stolen anything before but she was so fast!

Haha. Mine disgraced herself on our first visit to Italy last year....

We stopped at a pet shop to grab some bits. She waltzed in, helped herself to a massive biscuit treat, and promptly pissed all over the floor! Blush

She never toilets inside, so I think it was just a flourish she added into her little theft routine

Ds's dog did exactly the same thing when I looked after him for the first time

Snaffled a treat down his throat and pissed up some doggy stockings

He never pees inside and has never done it again

Fab - the carrot would otherwise have gone to waste. Your dog clearly knew that.🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s a protest against food wastage. What a good dog!

I thought you weee going to say your dog peed on the snowman🙈mind is well and truly in the gutter!

I'm right there in the gutter with you 😀

@Skiptogetfit
Go away before you self combust ffs

pigsDOfly · 07/01/2025 18:06

My dog loves carrots and knows the word carrot.

She never steals anything food related but if she came across a carrot just freely available on a snowman like that I'm not sure even she'd be able to resist.

My old Dalmatian was a dab hand at snaffling an ice cream cone out of a buggy bound child\s hand. So quick no one knew she had done it, ice cream swallowed in one gulp. We always offered to replace no one ever seemed to mind and the child just sat there with a puzzled face looking around to see where it had gone.

IAmNeverThePerson · 07/01/2025 18:03

My very gentle very well behaved dog loses her mind with snowmen. If allowed she leaps on them knocking their heads off and then goes to town on the remains. Which is obviously never awkward.

She is not allowed off lead when it has snowed. The DC make snowmen for her in the garden which she gleefully destroys. She will also snatch snowballs out of the air.

She is very docile the rest of the time but she just goes nuts in snow.

Would also flitch a carrot.

Biddie191 · 07/01/2025 17:54

William's mum is a real carrot connoisseur, so would have definitely checked it out - she's another who can hear a carrot being peeled from a distance.
William is in training, clearly

My dog once sat at the side and slightly behind of me in a seaside cafe and behaved beautifully I realised after a while he was so quiet and still because he was licking a small kids ice cream and they were taking turns

vodkaredbullgirl · 07/01/2025 17:49

@Vroomfondleswaistcoat I got one who would accept from people. My other dog wouldn't, she won't even take treats from the vet.

Yup, not something I’d want anywhere near me. Keep your dog on a lead if you can’t keep it away from innocent members of the public. Just the usual level of entitlement people have come to expect from dog owners.

You are the problem.

You’re on the wrong thread @Skiptogetfit

These are clearly light hearted posts and the PP saying their dog gently took the sausage roll from a child’s hand, wouldn’t be posting if said child had been upset by it.

As a child, my sister offered a neighbour’s boxer a lick of her ice cream. Boxer obviously took the whole thing in one bite. My sister wasn’t traumatised, she grew up to love boxers and is now on her 6th.

@Sn000w your dog has done everyone a favour by tidying up the carrot.

My dog looks adorable and whenever we go somewhere dog treats are on offer people will offer her one. But she is not at all food orientated and will stare at them as though they are mad ('mum, mum, there's this mad person trying to get me to EAT THINGS!') and very occasionally will take the treat and then spit it out at the person's feet. It's humiliating.

Mine always do the same. I had one boy who would subtly twist his nose to the side away from the offending treat as if to show his displeasure.

My older dog will often spit out treats she is given. But she figured out early on that many people in our very dog friendly town will then offer her another type of treat. Then she has 2 treats!

Dogs are also innocent members of the public. If another toddler had taken the sausage roll would you be calling for them to be put on a lead?

I once watch a toddler surreptitiously feed several unwanted jam sandwiches to a Labrador that was laying under the train seat behind… sometimes it’s not the dogs fault…

Sounds about right! We caught my neighbours young children on several occasions launching food they’d been given over the garden fence for the dog 😂had to gently explain that some food is poisonous for dogs so they shouldn’t do it but that if they asked they might be able to. Cue several months of hearing our names screamed from outside followed by “can dogs eat YOGURTS??” 😂
