Off the lead and enjoying a run around, we were the only people in that area of the national trust park,
It was closed to cars and not many people brave (or stupid) enough to walk.

We stumbled upon a lovely little family of snowmen,
however the one that she could reach was a really small but brilliant feathers McGraw with a carrot for a beak. I was going to take a photo and realised she's pinched his beak and ate it!

She's never stolen anything before but she was so fast!

That’s not funny though is it. It’s terrifying for the child. What the hell are you laughing about???

Exactly. DS has a shocking phobia of dogs now due to an owner letting her dog bounce up onto my 6 year old boy and swiping a croissant out of his mouth and hand while we were just walking in the park are oblivious to the damage you do.

and another dog took a massive chunk out of our ball, again in the park. Why can’t you control your dogs?

All you having a joke and a jolly thinking it’s funny.

i now have to look at therapy for him. You have no idea the problems you cause.

I have a carrot lover too. She can tell when you’re chopping carrots as opposed to other veg. The kitchen’s empty, you start chopping and she’s suddenly there, sitting beautifully, being very obviously GOOD.

Mine too. The chopping of carrots or grating of cheese and she’s there!

RosesAndGin · 07/01/2025 19:24

My two have never stolen anything.....they just look at you until you admit defeat and hand over the goods!

My pup exactly! She has beautiful manners and always asks for carrot or cheese (but nothing else) by sitting behind me and giving my hip a gentle nudge with her nose.

Mines the right height for sharing toddlers ice cream. I live near a beach. I have not been humiliated yet, I hope it never happens.

Same here....her face is just the right height for a toddler, in and out of a buggy. While I try and be careful I was at a farmers market and she took a toddler's snack. I was mortified and offered to buy it but the mum was ok as the child had nearly finished. Tbf the child was pointing out the dog using the hand the snack was in and in my dog's mind it looked like she was offering it to the dog.

She did once steal a scone from the tray at the bottom of a buggy when she was a puppy. It was in a dog friendly cafe in Cornwall and the buggy was parked in a corner while the family were eating. I had her on her lead and was paying with my back to her. When I turned around she was scoffing the sconeBlush. I found the family, apologised profusely and offered to buy another but they saw the funny side and refused.

Fortunately those have been the only times and while she tends to 'beg' she's not really been one to steal food.

Aha! She's a Border Terrorist - that explains everything. Our girl (sadly now departed) loved a carrot (or anything else she could get her paws on). They are wonderful dogs - such characters.

They're bloody brilliant dogs aren't they? Never had a dog play with toys or wine corks like her !

My local supermarket has a lady come in with her guide dog once a week to do their shopping ( she comes in with a list and the staff go round with her to get what she needs ). Every week , the guide dog takes one of those Mattesons sausages that come shrink wrapped off the bottom shelf of the refrigerated aisle, and trots out of the shop , happy as Larry. No one says a thing !

Ddog loves snow but got banned from sledging as he would chase after sledges and knock the child off the sledge and then hump them (the child not the sledge)
Now he is just allowed to help with snowman making and snowball fights

LittleBobbyDazzler · 07/01/2025 18:33

Ha excellent, the lure of the carrot was too strong. First snowfall we had after we moved into our new house my parents and their dogs were staying with us. One being a husky so she just wanted to be out in it. Me and DH managed to make a 6 food giant snowman. First thing the little shit did was jump up at it, knick one of its stick arms, knocked it's head off and did a runner around the garden!

My dog once sat at the side and slightly behind of me in a seaside cafe and behaved beautifully I realised after a while he was so quiet and still because he was licking a small kids ice cream and they were taking turns

😍

#1 We were walking along the beach with our Trailhound offlead. They have a very keen nose and all of sudden she smelt something blowing in the breeze so chased it to the source. We were left in her wake desperately trying to catch her but by the time we got there she'd eaten both sandwiches and bait of the man fishing down on the waters edge. 😳

It was mortifying, we had nothing on us to leave him dinner money so had to shout our apologies and drag one happy hound off the beach. We didn't go back down there for months after 😬

Trailhound #2 We went to a doggie day out where there's lots of dog stuff to do and buy but also a part where small businesses sell their stuff, stuff like sausages.

There we were walking around the stalls and tables, got to the sausage stall and DH turns to ask shall we buy some at the same moment Trailhound launches herself at the dog height front tier of taster plates and attempts to breath in her own bodyweight of sausage bites. DH starts laughing and says to person selling stuff fancy putting dinner out so early at a dog show, I bought 10 quid of sausages and we left. 😐

I once watch a toddler surreptitiously feed several unwanted jam sandwiches to a Labrador that was laying under the train seat behind… sometimes it’s not the dogs fault…

My old collie was a bombproof dog we could take anywhere without him scaring or annoying anyone. I went to cheer my husband on in a local race, was chatting to some friends, and felt something…sneaky happening at the other end of the lead. Looked around to see 2 small children feeding their sausage rolls to him, while the old boy was trying to be as surreptitious as possible because he knew I’d take them off him.

No children were traumatised during this incident.
Although they were a bit disappointed when I told them he couldn’t eat their lunch.
