To think that Musk is now overstepping himself and the UK gvt should threaten action

Musk has just posted this on twitter (among other unhinged tweets). To me this reads as a thinly veiled threat to democratically elected UK MPs and actually the UK government should consider sanctions to the US if he continues this attack when he enters the White House?

How many of them are rapists though? Are we that desperate that we now need rapists to work in the NHS?

You misunderstood, deliberately maybe?

She was saying that we shouldn't accept immigrants from countries who don't accept their rapists back. This is not a viable solution.

I was not in any way implying that the healthcare professionals that move here are rapists. I was saying that we need immigration and there's no way her solution would work

I think Elon bringing it up is a great thing overall. Yes, he's unhinged but at least we are now talking about it.

Any sanctions against the US would absolutely fuck us over, so that's not possible.

This exactly.

I'm actually shocked that people are outraged about him to be honest.

They'd much rather the rape and torture of thousands of children was swept under the carpet so they can continue with their faux 'right-on' leftie clap-trap.

@AlisonDonut

  • Every single criminal that is found guilty should be deported if they were not born in the country. At the start of their sentence not the end. And be barred from ever entering again.

If countries don't want their criminals back, then all citizen immigration from that country ceases until a deal to take them back is made and signed.

This isn't difficult.*

100% agree.

I'm also staggered that there are morally bankrupt lawyers here in the UK who advised these convicted rapists to renounce their Pakistani citizenship in order to avoid being deported.

WTF is wrong with these people? Actively helping rapists to play our so called human rights system. This is abhorrent.

Gross tbh

@randomchap @AlisonDonut is taking about those who commit crimes in the UK.

She was saying that we shouldn't accept immigration from countries that won't accept their rapists back.

That's not going to work as a solution as we need immigrants. Our economy and nhs would collapse without them.

It's a simplistic idea that will not work. Obviously a solution needs to be found but that isn't it

Musk has extreme views and the money to get them out there. He is an unelected individual without enough to do in the afternoons, and he likes a ruck and lots of attention.

sanctioning the US is a ludicrous idea. Deleting X off your device would be a good start.

Yes. Delete X. Don't buy a Tesla. Ignore him. He isn't a statesman, he doesn't deserve the attention of one

timenowplease · 07/01/2025 09:57

randomchap · 07/01/2025 09:50

That would be extremely difficult. The UK economy is built on immigration. Look at how many healthcare professionals are immigrants. Coming over here, healing our sick and injured.

Are you suggesting we don't need these people?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 07/01/2025 09:56

Imo the Trump/Musk marriage is not going to last. Trump will realise (or be told) that Musk is overstepping the mark

I've long taken the view that Trump et al would probably rather have him "inside the tent pissing out" than the other way round, @maudelovesharold ... at least that way there's some hope of reining him in when necessary

Edited to add the PP was talking about the deportation of convicted criminals, @randomchap, and whatever else those coming over to work in our caring services may be I'd hope they're not that

TinkerTailorSoldier · 07/01/2025 09:56

He's a private individual (not an elected politician or royal family member), who is under no obligation to keep his opinions to himself. He has business interests in the UK, so that gives him yet another reason to offer his opinion just as rich Brit businesspeople do.
There is no law against having an opinion and shouting it out, especially if you have a platform to do so. Ignore what you don't like.
I'm happy for someone to speak up in support of the victims of illegal immigrant rapists - Why shouldn't they be deported?

Btw, Why did Harry open his gob to support Hillary Clinton vs Trump? Why did Labour reps go to the US to campaign for the Labour Party?

completely agree.

Yes. Musk has bought himself political power and influence to an a terrifying degree.

Imo the Trump/Musk marriage is not going to last. Trump will realise (or be told) that Musk is overstepping the mark. Despite all indications to the contrary, I think Trump, in his own mind, wants to be a rational, statesmanlike President, and will not align himself for long with someone who threatens to vye with him for power.

There were hundreds of posts implying (that Trump should be killed)

There were indeed, @timenowplease, and while I'm no admirer either I don't happen to feel that chortling over the possibility of someone being murdered is any kind of answer

GoldThumb · 07/01/2025 09:36

timenowplease · 07/01/2025 09:24

There were hundreds of posts implying just that.

Stop your nonsense. You don't have the moral high ground here.

The site was riddled with them.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 07/01/2025 09:36

Ignore him like the victims and their families have been ignored for decades? Absolutely not.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 07/01/2025 09:34

Personally I think it’d be better for the likes of Starmer and the mainstream media to ignore him - in the same way that you might ignore a thoroughly PITA, attention-seeking child.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 07/01/2025 09:33

Unfortunately successive UK governments have silenced the victims, protected the perpetrators and lied to the public.

Since the voices of the “slapper” victims have not been heeded by politicians, police or social services in their scramble to protect community relations, I’m glad Musk has raised it because he is a voice they cannot ignore so perhaps the hideous mess and those who have covered it up will finally be dealt with rather than kicked into the long grass.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 07/01/2025 09:30

I do have a problem with propaganda and opinions being broadcasted as facts

So do I, @MargoLivebetter, and there's an issue in that folk are assuming Elon's list relates to this latest uproar when actually it concerned previous deportation attempts for others crimes

Nevertheless those previous offences did indeed include rapists, so in esseence he's not wrong, and on the wider point I believe it's important to know who wishes us to go on harbouring the sort who may be much better removed

yohohoCrimbo · 07/01/2025 09:30

Mmasters · 07/01/2025 09:00

Why vote against deporting rapists unless you need their vote

I'm also keen to know why so many of our MP's voted against the deportation. Can anyone explain please?

AlisonDonut · 07/01/2025 09:28

Alexandra2001 · 07/01/2025 09:21

Too many facts there i'm afraid... another one is between 2010 and 2019, over 50k ex prisoners deported from the UK but for obvious reasons it dropped off during covid.

A fallacy no one is deported.

@GoldThumb and @Puzzledandpissedoff I don't have any problem with anyone from anywhere stating their opinion. I do have a problem with propaganda and opinions being broadcasted as facts. There is surely a difference between like minded politicians supporting a democratic process and the widespread peddling of misinformation?

Who's looking a british media and seeing facts anymore 😂

yohohoCrimbo · 07/01/2025 09:25

@AlisonDonut

Also, foreign born rapists have taken the UK to court to avoid deportation using the EHRC. So it would be against their human rights to be made to leave.

You can't just take one side and nod along thinking everything is being taken care of. It really isn't.

Not nodding along. I'm reading and learning fast.

Crazy that the EHRC is protecting those who we need protecting from.

madgesb · 07/01/2025 09:25

AlisonDonut · 07/01/2025 09:24

Shut what down?

This is the issue, that people only want freedom to speak what they want said.

If you don't want a Tesla, don't buy one. If you are seeing racists on X then stop following racists. Honestly, this is in your hands, but you do not get to tell other people what they can and cannot do.

I was being sarcastic.
