To sleep with a 25 year old

I am 43. After a very unhappy marriage that ended two years ago I feel I have finally found myself.
I have lost a lot of weight over the 2 years, got my friends and social life back and a good job I'm in a good place.

A couple of months ago I was out with some friends for a girly night, meal cocktails and onto a local pub.
We were having a great night and I was enjoying having fun.
A young man approached me that evening and started chatting me up, I had a giggle with him amd I was flattered but I said look your way too young for me as sweet as you are you surely must have many young women after you and no I'm out with the girls.
We both laughed , said nice to meet you and me and my friends moved onto the next pub.
Since then I've bumped into him in the local village I have recently moved to at the local shop. You would have thought it would have been awkward, it wasn't we smiled said our hellos , were polite, and went our own way.

He then sent a friend request on fb , I declined it. He then messaged me on fb asking to go for dinner. I ignored him initially.
One evening after a glass of wine I replied and said again you seem lovely , however your too young for me , take care.

On the 21st Dec I was out in local pub celebrating my best friends birthday , he walked in with a couple of friends near the end of the evening , he came over and said hello, we were all quite drunk by then and I must admit I was flattered he was flirting with me.
He said have you recently moved to the village i said yes and we then both realised we are actually neighbours.... 6 doors apart.

End of the night came and we both went separate ways and said goodbyes
My friends said there was a massive chemistry between the two of us and although he is young he seemed a nice, respectful guy

Since that evening we gave msg back and forth a little. Things heated up last night and he wanted me to meet him out.
He's saying I'm not too young for you , please just give me a chance.
I declined as I was staying in.
I really do fancy the pants off him, I know it will be nothing but a physical thing if I ever decide to meet him
However I can't help but feel it is morally wrong?

Opinions please
Tell me to sort myself and move on if you like, I'm all ears 😂

I'd go for it but be careful with contraception and always use a condom. I mention this only because I and a group of friends encouraged our friend to grab the chance in a similar situation and enjoy it. At 50, she ended up HIV positive. Not being a Debbie Downer as I'd definitely go for it but do be mindful. Also I am jealous AF. Have fun!

Rewis · 01/01/2025 21:13

Assuming you don't have kids who are over tha age of 20 then go for it. He is 25, he's pursueing you, you've met when you're both sober.

Ohnobackagain · 01/01/2025 21:13

@Lolalovestheflowers I would say, if you are not bothered living so close and you can be sure his mates haven’t had some bet that he can get off with you, then why the hell not. You’re both consenting adults.

leftorrightnow · 01/01/2025 21:11

If you were a man you wouldn’t think twice about it. I know as I’ve been a 25 year old woman shagging 45 year old men. As long as you don’t use the age difference to manipulate or control him, go have fun!!

Circumferences · 01/01/2025 21:11

I'm not stranger to big age gaps, when I was 28 I got together with "Nick" who was 45 - so similar age gap to yours. It was hot as hell. We were together three and a half years of fun (split when I was about 32) because for obvious reasons we couldn't have a proper long term relationship.

So long as you're ok with the fact he's not interested in a proper long term relationship, because let's face it that just wouldn't work, then a bit of fun is FINE.

We all grew up with Samantha from Sex and the City didn't we 🤣🤣 obviously "Kath from the village shop" isn't quite the same but nevermind.

I'm currently with the love of my life who is 15 years older than me. We have children together. It works for us.

Annabella92 · 01/01/2025 21:09

No I wouldn't. He's just in it for the thrill of the chase. Keep it at that. You don't want a regular reminder of being just another notch on a bedpost, far better to hold on to your power and dignity.

Disturbia81 · 01/01/2025 21:09

StrawHatLuffy · 01/01/2025 20:41

I couldn't.
I'm 45, I'm not sure I could sleep with someone closer to my kids age than mine.

It'd be sleazy and creepy if a dad shagged someone not much older than their own kid, so it'd be equally sleazy and creepy if I did.

Exactly, I find it fucking creepy and sleazy when older men go for younger women so I couldn't do it the other way round.

Tink3rbell30 · 01/01/2025 20:36

No that's weird and creepy, plenty of men available in your age bracket.

Yes. Bit desperate

CC222 · 01/01/2025 21:07

Go and enjoy yourself... It's just a bit of fun, don't overthink it... Might be just what you need!

Olika · 01/01/2025 21:07

I am not too bothered about the age difference if it's just a shag or two but as he lives so close to you it might be better not to.

LuckySantangelo35 · 01/01/2025 21:05

Bigearringsbigsmile · 01/01/2025 20:33

Ohhh op it is really creepy and icky. Don't do it.

@Bigearringsbigsmile

why is it?

TENSsion · 01/01/2025 21:03

I’d be worried about just being his “shagged an old lady” accomplishment.
Especially if I’d just moved to a new village.

Crushed23 · 01/01/2025 21:02

Definitely go for it.

I had a fling with a 21 year-old when I was 34. Don't regret it for a second.

Joburgh · 01/01/2025 21:01

Go out and do it! Just don't wear granny knickers.

Teanbiscuits33 · 01/01/2025 21:00

You clearly want to, OP. You’re just looking for validation because somewhere in there you know it’s not a good idea but you’re enjoying being desired by someone much younger. Nobody here can convince you not to, you have to make your own call on this. I wouldn’t if I were you because of the proximity if nothing else, and the fact you’re questioning it means you should probably think about it more before making a decision.

Thank fuck someone said what I was thinking. 25? I wouldn't be happy at all if my 25 years old was shagging a 43 year old. Imagine if a 43 year old man was sniffing around a 25 year old man, I think people might change their tune then.

fruitypancake · 01/01/2025 20:58

Go for it ! Sounds like fun

Bizarred · 01/01/2025 20:58

He lives too close, that's the problem. If he was 45, I'd say the same.

RedHotWings · 01/01/2025 20:56

Just be aware that to him you are very old and it may well be some kind of challenge he has set himself to be with a person of your age. If you don't mind that, then I personally no reason not to

Lolalovestheflowers · 01/01/2025 20:56

Tink3rbell30 · 01/01/2025 20:54

Sounds like you're going to do it regardless and didn't really want to take note of opinions. Gross 🤢

That's not true at all. I'm valuing all the opinions given and I'm actually learning towards not going ahead with it.

It's not the age-gap it's that he only lives 6 doors away! 😱

😂 yes this is a little off putting. However we are both very busy people , we rarely bump into each other

They always say on your deathbed u regret the things u didn’t do - nit what u did do!

I was in a similar situation a “while” ago with a friend she was 50 and a 39 year old starting chatting her up, she actually had a laugh that night with him, and then the following day was still extremely chuffed with herself she could pull something as good looking and funny as him!

She was down the leisure centre booking herself in for the “7am daily over 50s ladies six weeker” with a swim after!

They took it slowly, and they are still together “a good while later”

11 years difference in age is different to 18 years difference

If your daughter of 25 slept with someone of 43 how would you feel?
He's old enough to be your child.
Yuk

It wouldn't be any of my business if she was 25. I'd be more concerned about how she was treated and if he was nice to her and she was safe
