He called me a good girl while examining me. Should I complain or am I overreacting?

Ugh 🤢 gross. It's inappropriate and unprofessional but whether you complain would probably depend on how much it affected you. If you're genuinely distressed then say something. If it just gave you the ick I'd probably just plan my comeback for next time a bloke made that mistake.
And ask to see another doctor in future!

solopanda · 31/12/2024 21:42

What were they examining?

“Good girl” is what you say to a dog for bringing a stick back. It isn’t what you say to an adult patient for holding their breath, or whatever OP had been asked to do.

Still not worth making a complaint over though.

HPandthelastwish · 31/12/2024 21:42

Honestly it's probably just an absent minded slip of the tongue, like when you tell your boss you love them at the end of a phone call. I certainly wouldn't be harbouring a grudge into the new year because of it

Onlyvisiting · 31/12/2024 21:42

I mean- context is everything sometimes..... why/when did he say it?

Pussycat22 · 31/12/2024 21:41

Oh shut up!

Snowmanscarf · 31/12/2024 21:41

We had an older gp who used to say this. Didn’t mean anything by it.

Floralnomad · 31/12/2024 21:41

I wouldn’t complain but I’d have said something at the time .

StopStartStop · 31/12/2024 21:41

Not unless he also patted you on the rump.

Onlyvisiting · 31/12/2024 21:41

Ew. WTF???

RainbowSquare · 31/12/2024 21:41

Don't be so ridiculous. Bradley sometimes says that on The Chase.

And lets be honest the GP Manager wouldnt give a flying F and you'd be put on a list of obnoxious patients.

spoonfulofsugar1 · 31/12/2024 21:40

I wouldn't. If you felt offended you should have said at the time. But no, I wouldnt complain about this.

Kimmeridge · 31/12/2024 21:39

What exactly would your complaint be??

It was patronising yes but you either address it at the time or forget about it

Completely over reacting to be considering making a complaint

I might think a weird phrase but complain? Were you really that offended?

I’d have said something in the moment, you wouldn’t be wrong to complain now, but the moment has slightly passed and they probably don’t remember saying it now.

It’s very patronising.

2025willbemytime · 31/12/2024 21:38

Too late but you should have said I'm a woman, please don't patronise me.
