Worried to leave my dog

Dd has got to the age now where she wants to see the fireworks on NYE
We live a 5 minute drive from the beach, where we’d be able to see all the fireworks going off from nearby huge displays. They last around 10
minutes from after midnight. We’d be out of the house 25-30 minutes at most.
But I hate the thought of leaving my dog at home alone. Usually when they go off she barks a lot and hides under the bed, she hates it, but at least i’m there to calm her and be with her.
I hate the thought of her being scared and we’re not there.
Dd is desperate to go, it’s an amazing sight on the cliffs of the beach

What would you do?

No, you can't leave the dog home alone absolutely terrified. Often dogs are better in the car though with the engine and radio on, so can you watch them from the car and take the dog?

She’s not terrified, she’s like probably the majority of dogs and doesn’t like the fireworks and hides under the bed, she does this when it’s too windy too or if a door or window slams shut

I’m closer to her, am more likely to know how to keep her at ease and not wander off into the garden for too long leaving her for too long.
Dh had his mum pass away recently, Dd has been really ill, I want to go to be part of it all so badly but probably they deserve to more.

Maybe the dog is more comfortable with the OP. I'm my dog's favourite person, it makes sense I'd stay with her rather than other family members as she feels safest with me

Don't leave the dog, not only is it unkind but she could easily do serious damage to herself or your house if she is in a blind panic.
Anyone you know who is known to your dog and who would dog sit for an hour?

Rubbish situation, you of course can't leave the dog if it is that scared.

My DH has raised the subject of getting a dog. I am dead against it, having to put the dog before kids is shit.

Glad you've decided one of you is staying home with your dog, it's the right decision. Mine is snuggled beside me right now, there are already fireworks going off in my area, there's no way I would leave her alone. Go on YouTube and type in "relaxing music for dogs", you'll find music to hopefully help your dog's anxiety a small bit. My ddog is listening to her music right now, it's helping!🐾

How noisy is it watching them on the beach? How old is your DD? If she's old enough, sensible and it's safe
I would just take the dog with me. I have done this many times one of mine even went to bonfire night & fireworks as a puppy- neatly tucked away in DH coat!

Mine are fine with fireworks, but I appreciate not all are... other option is to leave the lights and TV or radio on to drown some of the noise and flashing lights.

I have turned down an invite to the pub because the fireworks have started around me-I think from the sounds of it in the road directly outside my window.
Poor dog absolutely terrified already.
So I am sitting with him having a glass of wine and playing Mozart for dogs on youtube. Honestly it is magical. Dog stopped shaking and has gone to sleep!!

There is not a chance in hell I would leave my dog alone, knowing he is scared of fireworks, at a time I know fireworks will be going off.

Find someone else to take your daughter out, or find someone the dog trusts to stay with him, or don't go.

There’s no way I’d take the dog to the fireworks. Already put the tv on loud and lights on etc in an attempt to drown it out.
The largest display closest to us is actually doing silent fireworks this year, but there will be others going off

Last year Dh quickly took her to the field nearby and I stayed home
We’ve had an extremely difficult 6 months, just wanted something for all of us, but I will stay again as just can’t bear the thought of it

So this year it’s your turn. You take her and he stays with the dog.
