To hate New Year's Eve

Just that really. Over the years I've tried to enjoy it in all forms from full on partying to having close friends round; snuggling in front of the TV to going to bed early; going to see a film to having a bubbly bath and all points in between.
I just find it so pointless and feel honour bound to 'see in' the new year with DH and DC who are all here at home. It doesn't exactly feel depressing but the forcedness and expectation wear me out.

Cup of tea and bed with some books for me!

Now I’m middle aged, I feel no pressure to do anything other than sit on my sofa with a dog or two. It’s bliss. I do not need to see the NY in. But when I was young, the pressure to go out was real. I didn’t really like it. Love staying in!

Then don't do any of that, nobody is forcing you to do anything. Just do whatever makes you happy same as any other day.

Who told you that you HAVE to stay up until midnight? I can promise you that you don’t.

I am sitting on my bed with a hair mask and face pack on. Will have a shower then read my book and be asleep by ten.

Yes, the fireworks will wake me but that’s ok, I will snuggle back to sleep and get up at 6 as usual ready to walk the dog and have a lovely peaceful day.

Do whatever you want to do OP. Happy New Year!!

We didn't see the new year in for about 10 years as we had small kids. We barely used to make it past 10pm
Now we just chill at home with teens. Party food, some Irish coffee and relax

There is NOTHING that makes me more tired than NYE. As soon as I know I HAVE to stay up till midnight I want to go to bed - about 4pm. Of course I don't have to stay up but then by default I'll end up up until about 10.30 and then it seems silly to 'miss' it by 1.5 hours so put myself through torture to reach some poxy fireworks.
