Nothing. We don't celebrate it.

Two kids - 6 and 2. We are leaving kids with grandparents and going out to a drum and bass night 😀.

I am so bloody jealous. I have an SN child so no such luck with babysitting.

I will probably be asleep by 10 anyway. I alway doze off and get woken up by fireworks.

notwittywithusernames · 30/12/2024 20:25

I'm working in retail so in until late tomorrow afternoon, pick up toddler and then the usual wrestle into bat/bed. Have had the crappy Xmas cold so as soon as bubba is asleep I won't be far behind.

Wednesday back in work. I don't mind to be honest, had many many NYE knees up (I remember most 🤣).

Only thing I miss from the past is the group of us finally heading out for an all you can eat full English fatty breakfast at some point.

But whatever/however you all choose to spend tomorrow evening, I hope it's lovely for you xx

AliTheMinx · 30/12/2024 20:15

Very chilled evening planned -Chinese takeaway at home, a few drinks, maybe some Jackbox Games and then a sofa snooze with Jools!'

AnnieMay2000 · 30/12/2024 20:11

DH is working tomorrow and will get home at 7.30pm, same on New Years Day. I'm going to get up early tomorrow, clean the house and have it spotless. My DD16 and myself will watch The Sound of Music around 4pm, just as it starts to get dark. When DH gets home we will play board games with the kids and watch a movie. Going to order a takeaway too. We will be in bed before midnight. Never liked NYE and never got the attraction of going to a packed pub and then all the cringey Happy New Year hugs.

skyeisthelimit · 30/12/2024 19:50

its just me and DD16 so we’ll be watching films and playing board games/nintendo switch.

ive bought party food. DD doesn’t drink so I might have a couple of glasses of wine or Buck’s Fizz. I don’t really like drinking on my own and only drink at Christmas .

years ago I had to be in the pub on NYE but even pre Covid it had got worse and worse with the pub being dead and nobody out. We’re rural so no taxis . I just can’t be bothered to go out now.

Ratfinkstinkypink · 30/12/2024 19:46

Meeting up with some of my previous foster children during the day for a run around a local park then home with my current little person. He'll be in bed long before midnight and I will sneak in just before the clock strikes 12 to do his midnight meds then hit the sack myself because at 6am he'll be due some more meds!

mitogoshigg · 30/12/2024 19:45

Band at local pub

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 30/12/2024 19:43

There is a local seafront firework display at 6 then the local pub is doing a children's party until 8, we are going with some friends and their children, we will then go home, put ds to bed, open some wine, light a fire and watch a film or maybe big fat quiz if it's on.

adviceneeded1990 · 30/12/2024 19:43

It’s my DSDs Mum’s turn for NY so DH and I are going out for food then meeting his best friend and his partner for a couple of soft drinks, probably come home about 10, we’ve got a Christmas quiz game that we are enjoying so maybe continue that for a bit and then watch the rubbish TV countdowns etc before bed! Neither of us are big NY people and we’re not drinking alcohol currently due to IVF in January so very quiet one.

Doggymummar · 30/12/2024 19:42

Staying home watching Squid Games

DarkForces · 30/12/2024 19:41

Oooo thank you @CosyDenimShark . If you have a referral code feel free to share and I'll use it if dh and dd are up for it too! They usually love an escape room.

Marine30 · 30/12/2024 19:40

The kids are 14 and 17 so driving them to and from parties - but I don’t mind as I don’t drink and not a big NY eve fan.
Friends for New Year’s Day. I’m looking forward to that. Might just be me but I’m much more sociable in the day than the evening.

I did the "Hallows Hill" one from Wolf Escape Games online. Set it up on the laptop and then linked to the TV so everyone could see it. Turned the lights out for spooky effect! It was just tricky enough. They have added another 2 games so will get a different one this year.
Enjoy if you do it!
PS, I'm not sure its possible to have too much Baileys! 😂

Thank you!! This sounds fab, and your setup is excellent! Definitely having a go at this, it's spot on for a NY laugh! 😁 I can't remember the one we played years ago, will ask DH if he remembers (if I remember... 🤣)

And I like your way of thinking! Going down far too smoothly. 😂

CosyDenimShark · 30/12/2024 19:39

DarkForces · 30/12/2024 19:14

@CosyDenimShark which escape room? Any recommendations? That sounds a great addition to our plans!

We did "Hallows Hill" last year by Wolf Escape Games. Linked the laptop up to the TV. They have added 2 more games to their website so will probably do one of those. Hope that helps!😊

CosyDenimShark · 30/12/2024 19:37

GiddyRobin · 30/12/2024 19:21

Oh do tell about the escape room! I love them - we played a game that was similar years ago and loved it, but I'd love to investigate this!

Many "loves" at the moment. Might have had a bit too much Bailey's...it's half 8 in Norway to be fair, and the DC are already out for the count! 😂

UnhealthyCopingStrategies · 30/12/2024 19:23

Having some party food and then probably watching something before turning in at roughly the normal bed time so I can try and get a bit of sleep around all the fireworks.

EvilNextDoor · 30/12/2024 19:23

Not much.

DH is working - so it’s just me and the kids

So will grab some snack/party food and play a few board games in our pj’s and chill out

Teen Child 2 is not feeling amazing so I’m hoping it passes as I don’t fancy our chances of seeing a GP tomorrow

GiddyRobin · 30/12/2024 19:21

CosyDenimShark · 30/12/2024 18:52

An online escape room & a takeaway curry. Will probably watch the fireworks on TV.

TwinkleLights24 · 30/12/2024 19:21

We’re staying home tomorrow evening but seeing my parents earlier in the day. I always like to go to bed early ish so I can wake up and have a productive 1st January.

DarkForces · 30/12/2024 19:12

We've ordered a posh meal kit so will be cooking together and having a bottle of English sparkling wine that we've been saving. We're quite high so can watch others fireworks from our upstairs windows. Probably should clean the house too!

Bigearringsbigsmile · 30/12/2024 19:01

We're having a small party. Should be fun!

Halo20 · 30/12/2024 18:59

Im 6 month pregnant and DH has the flu so very very little.

Hoping he feels a bit better so we can at least watch in the new year on tv together.

DilemmaDelilah · 30/12/2024 18:57

Same as every other day. Go up for a bath around 9pm then bed.

To be fair I had many many years of working every New Year's Eve.
