Anyone else hate the expectation to shave down there?

Is anyone else fed up of the expectation/strong preference for going completely shave pubic hair? I’m female and have only had male partners, but prepared to believe women have this expectation too if others have experienced it. I mean each to their own, but personally I find it feels child-like. Has anyone managed to find a compromise with their partner on this?

Trim the hair and shave the sides.

Considering the range is from full bush to bald, that sounds bang on average.

Teenagerantruns · 29/12/2024 21:58

I'm a woman in a same sex relationship, neither us care about what the other does with thier pubic hair.
My ex make partner, always wanted me to shave, l hated it, so bloody itchy when it grew back, will never do it again...

Hoplolly · 29/12/2024 21:58

No pressure here. DH doesn't care if I do or don't, but I personally prefer to keep it trim myself. I feel cleaner and more groomed but that's for me, not for a man.

TheyCantBurnUsAll · 29/12/2024 21:57

Yeah I agree. I don't shave and had a few partners state a preference for no hair. I think it's child like and that repulses me so it stays as it is. They get over it. I wont go near someone bald, I'm ok with stubble don't have to be massive bush just adult

AdviceAdvice123 · 29/12/2024 21:56

I don’t think there’s as much expectation as there used to be. Or maybe I just consume different media these days.

Anyway, I have trimmed a little on occasion but never fully, never regularly. Never had a negative comment.

JMSA · 29/12/2024 21:56

I don't do it.
I did it once but went too far and ended up taking off the lot!
I looked like a weird fat baby woman Blush

What do you do?

Trim the hair and shave the sides.

Printedword · 29/12/2024 21:55

It's bound to go out of fashion eventually. It's not healthy to shave there. The overall hairless ness concept is revolting. Occasionally there are ads about facial shaving and removing 'peach fuzz' like that's even hair, it's just down. Back in the 70s people shaved legs, arm pits (in summer) and bikini line. That was it.

I'd have a tidy up and keep it short for hygiene reasons. Removing pubic hair is like being a child though, so not for me.

I did it once in late teens and felt exactly that. I didn’t like it at all!

What do most people do with their pubic hair? I'm in my 40s and feel like people don't share much. So I'm not sure if what I do is normal!

What do you do?

Honestly never had a partner with a preference for me to “completely shave pubic hair”. Ditch them and move on.

pinkstripeycat · 29/12/2024 21:55

I get rid of as much as I want and always have done. Small triangle. Had a conversation with DH once and he said complete removal would be gross as he’d imagine it to be too child like. He’d never dated anyone who got rid of the lot.

We are in our early 50s and I’m not sure it was ever a thing for anyone if our ages growing up to get rid of the lot. It does make me think men who like the lot removing are creepy as I think it’s child like aswell

Merryoldgoat · 29/12/2024 21:54

Never had anything other than a full bush and never had any pressure for anything else.

Whatever is normal for you. Does it matter what other people do? I couldn't care less.

Katemax82 · 29/12/2024 21:53

I used to always shave, however I got BV a few years ago and my husband being a total twat made me go to a gu clinic so I now refuse to shave

Doggymummar · 29/12/2024 21:53

Never felt any pressure, married three times and plenty of partners I don't think it's ever been mentioned

tellmesomethingtrue · 29/12/2024 21:53

FuckItItsFine · 29/12/2024 21:52

I have an absolute shitload of pubes so I have to trim a bit just for my own hygiene reasons 😬 But wouldn’t shave.

Cheepcheepcheep · 29/12/2024 21:51

Gosh this is a bit of a retro conversation!

Personally - sometimes trimmed, sometimes not. Only request from DH is for not an entirely bald number as he doesn’t like it.

nonbinaryfinery · 29/12/2024 21:51

Pubic hair exists for a reason. Removing it means you're more prone to infections and other nasties.

I don't date anymore, but when I was, I trimmed a bit, but wouldn't ever shave it off. It's supposed to be there.

YesExactlyYes · 29/12/2024 21:51

People can 'expect' what they like - you don't have to take any notice. Why perpetuate the 'expectation' by joining in? Same goes for armpits.

gamerchick · 29/12/2024 21:49

I've never felt the expectation of it. It would be tough shit if they did.

It's your muff, platt it if you want. Most men are just happy to get access to it.

Moonwalkies · 29/12/2024 21:49

Never had a partner who has mentioned it to be honest. I personally often like to keep it neat and tidy down there- trimmed but not bald but it's been all sorts over the years and no one has minded. I'd suggest as long as you're hygienic most men wouldn't give a fuck?

graceinspace999 · 29/12/2024 21:49

Not interested in those who aren’t interested in natural women. Hair is beautiful.
