Anyone else hate the expectation to shave down there?

Is anyone else fed up of the expectation/strong preference for going completely shave pubic hair? I’m female and have only had male partners, but prepared to believe women have this expectation too if others have experienced it. I mean each to their own, but personally I find it feels child-like. Has anyone managed to find a compromise with their partner on this?

I personally hate any hair down there on myself, I feel fresh when it's all gone and smooth. Don't care how any man has his though. I don't think anyone should put pressure on anyone to have their public hair a certain way , should be a personal choice

I was going to add... If you want to be hair-free yourself, no problem. But no one should dictate what you do to your pubes!

pollymere · 30/12/2024 18:21

I've had quite a few boyfriends and never had any want me bare down there. I thought DH did at one point but he's happy with "tidy". I don't wax any of it any more. I did bikini line for my ex and for myself when first married. All the others liked it as nature intended.

I don't think I could date a guy who wants it bare. I've had hair there since I was about eight or nine. That suggests they basically want someone who resembles an INFANT down there ... 🤢.

Voted 'my hair my choice' but in 3+ decades of sexual activity no one has ever so much as hinted I need to shave tbh. Wouldn't if they did though.

ineedtowomanup · 30/12/2024 17:34

Pre current DH I remember being with a man of a religion where in their faith they have to remove pubic hair.

I don't and didn't then. I have a memory of him just stroking me really gently almost playing with my pubic hair. I did not feel ashamed he seemed to love it. My now DH really doesn't comment on it, I kind of love my bush!

allmylifelong · 30/12/2024 17:32

I’ve never felt the pressure, and I’m in my 20’s so was a teen when porn was massive. No man I know has ever really been bothered, and I know lots of women my age and younger are going full bush.

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 30/12/2024 17:31

I don't think I've ever felt an expectation to do it. I've been with DH since my early 20s and he's never suggested doing anything different - if he had, I would probably just have told him that I didn't expect him to shave his and I didn't expect him to interfere in what I did with mine. But he seems to like me as I am, hair and all.

Padamae · 30/12/2024 17:30

Yup, hate it so I don’t do it

Princessconsuelabananahammock9 · 30/12/2024 17:29

Also I have never thought of my son's penis in connection to a shaved man. That's so gross. The last thing I'm thinking of when looking at a naked adult is children.

For me a much bigger feminist issue during sex is lazy men who expect oral but never give it. Or lazy men who think putting their dick in me would automatically make me orgasm.

Men feeling entitled to orgasms without reciprocation? That's an issue to me.

Princessconsuelabananahammock9 · 30/12/2024 17:23

I prefer shaved on men and women and most people I've dated have shaved as well.

I also keep it bald through waxing, shaving, and creams. I also have a crystal I use in between that removes hair.

I'm not a pedophile but I prefer going down on someone showered and bald, especially when it comes to women. I'm currently in a same sex relationship who prefers the same. It's not a deal breaker, but we both prefer hairless.

I think Vulvas are gorgeous and I've yet to see a grown woman with a vulva like a child's. Labia grows during puberty. I have large labia minora and look nothing like a child.

I have dated one man who preferred hair. Not my cup of tea but I did grow it out for him.

I didn't see it as a huge issue since he was the one spending time down there. It didn't seem like an issue to do what he preferred.

He shaved for me, I didn't shave for him. It worked. Lol

I know people tend to see this as a feminist issue but I don't. If someone is spending an hour down there I'll happily take their preferences into consideration.

Also for the younger generation of teens/20 year olds my niece and her friends don't shave their arm pits or legs but still shave their pubic hair. Make of that what you will.

If a partner asked that of me I'd want to know why they had a preference for a woman with pubic area that resembled that of a prepubescent child, then enf the relationship.
Weird to even think about it, even more so to voice those thoughts?

So for women that have been asked, I'm curious, did you suggest that they also removed all pubic hair?

My partner removes all of it, as do I. I didn't ask him to. I also shave my legs and armpits. I don't look like a child and its very odd (to say the least) that children's vaginas are on your mind like that.

Your thoughts are way weirder considering no woman with a mature body could ever resemble that of a prepubescent child.

But your not alone on this thread with your obsession with children, sadly.

Hunglikeapolevaulter · 30/12/2024 16:02

Try to think a bit harder perhaps?
That comment is as stupid as the one proclaiming that they've uncovered the class divide.
Leave women alone in their choices. It is really unsurprising that all of the abuse is towards women who choose to remove their pubic hair from those who don't.

Calm down, I was discussing the broader phenomenon, not specifically attacking your bald fanny.

Gloriia · 30/12/2024 16:00

'So for women that have been asked, I'm curious, did you suggest that they also removed all pubic hair?'

Many men trim/shave.

I've always been firm from the offset. Not shaving. I find it slightly disconcerting a man wants a woman to look like a little girl. That's my come back if they insist

Just like I'm never taking nude photos of myself or let others do it. Non negotiable.

But many if not most women like their dh shaved/trimmed and men do not look like little boys. I think it's quite sickening that people keep bringing children into this discussion.

Oral sex is more pleasant for all concerned without long, horrible pubes everywhere.

Hankunamatata · 30/12/2024 15:55

Only thing dh hates is it all took off. He says it just looks wrong.

bifurCAT · 30/12/2024 15:49

Jennyathemall · 29/12/2024 21:46

No the opposite. Only this very evening my DH asked me not to shave for once and grow it out a bit to “mix it up” I said no way!

This. Bushy or smooth, no complaints. Also used the word 'variety'.

Thingymajigii · 30/12/2024 15:42

I'm not attracted to hairy men and expect my partner to keep things very tidy (ideally shaved down there) and I do the same. I couldn't be bothered with the faff of making a triangle or landing strip so I just shave it off.
I've even thought about having it all lasered so it's permanent.
I am fair though and my hair is fine so shaving it is very easy and is smooth afterwards - I might feel differently if I had thick dark hair.
Despite the research, I feel that it's more hygienic to be hairless.

You think women with financial respurces have more pubic hair than those who don’t?

The very groomed look eg microbladed, lip filled, hair extensions, long nail extensions, is very working-class coded so I'm think extreme hair removal would be likewise.

Why do you assume I never read those kind of information?
I don't need pubic hair to trap dirt and bacteria because I have daily showers and wear clean underwear. It was very important in caveman era when people didn't shower, didn't wipe clean and had no underwear. I hate traces of pee and menstrual blood getting stuck in hair which are more difficult to wet wipe or shower rather then just skin.
I personally don't feel any unpleasant friction during intercourse and I prefer it shaven for oral sex.
We're all different. We're build differently and have different preferences and ways of doing things. Whatever works for me is best for me, same as the next person.

Goodness, I wasn’t having a go at you, or your personal preferences, it’s just that you said it didn’t serve a purpose when clearly it does. Calm down.

It read very differently.

Ahhhhhh, I must've got confused when you said "yes, I would call you a nonce" to a woman who said that she shaves and then doubled down calling her "miss classy paedophile".

My bad.
