‘D’ P farting while he’s prepping food

He’s in the kitchen chopping meat and just let out 2 enormous farts (and quite deliberately, not like there was nothing he do about it)- doesn’t care and doesn’t think it’s a big deal. He’s in the kitchen prepping food,
Am I being unreasonable to not want to eat with him now. I find when he does this sort of thing that it’s so disrespectful and just unpleasant.

Hahaha.

I’d find that so off putting. I just don’t want to hear other people’s farts or burps or whatever, just go to the bathroom. I don’t think I am clutching at my pearls, I just think it’s basic courtesy to the people around you.

Do you honestly go to the bathroom every time you need to burp or fart? I can't imagine feeling this uncomfortable around people I share a home with.

SlipperyFish11 · 26/12/2024 20:25

I'd find that gross tbh. My ex used to fart anywhere in public, silently, but it absolutely stunk and used to piss me off so bad. I'd be just trying to do a food shop or have a nice meal and there would be the smell of his ass.

In our house we have a rule: no farting in the same room as someone else. When I go to bed I can hear DH letting all hell loose. But to be fair I do my fair bit under the covers so when he comes to bed later on and lifts the covers it's not roses he smell..

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Exactly. Or step outdoors.

I'm glad the men in my life have been too couth to ever make obnoxious noises in my presence.

Op, does he fart in bed?

WalterdelaMare · 26/12/2024 20:12

My husband does all of the cooking and all of the farting.

Thepeopleversuswork · 26/12/2024 20:12

There are two types of people on Mumsnet: those who are disgusted by farts and pretend to their spouses that they never do it; and the people who recognize that farts are a fairly normal human digestive function.

The responses will fall neatly into one of those two categories.

I couldnt get overly excited about this. It’s a fairly childish bit of slapstick but no one is going to get ill.

They’re funny and usually there’s no food prep involved.

What do you think is going to happen to the food?

bugalugs45 · 26/12/2024 20:11

After yesterdays mammoth dinners with stuffing and vegetables I would assume most households are more windy than usual

OP, I'm just wondering how you handle fanny farting during sex, or don't you indulge in such an act?

It's significantly more ewww starting a thread about it than it is letting one out.

Easipeelerie · 26/12/2024 20:10

Hi arse was, as you’d expect facing away from the food. But they were fulsome and slightly wet sounding and just rank.

MartinCrieffsLemon · 26/12/2024 20:08

It's just a fart
Unless he was farting over the food, like pointing his arse at it, then it's fine

MN is so weird about farting. It's a fairly normal body function

Can’t move in my house with hearing a fart 🤣

mrstinsle · 26/12/2024 20:06

You find farting offensive? You really need to get a grip.

She'd never survive in our house.

daisychain01 · 26/12/2024 20:07

Where's the cats bum-face emoji when I need it.

come on OP unclench, it's Christmas and his need was great.

thefairytaleofnewyork · 26/12/2024 20:06

This would give me the ick, regardless of whether he was prepping food!

Disrespectful!

poemsandwine · 26/12/2024 20:06

Ridiculous overreaction. He's not farting on the food, while you're eating, or around you. Chill.

FatFiatMultiplaWhopper · 26/12/2024 20:06

Of course it doesn't "harm the food"
