‘D’ P farting while he’s prepping food

He’s in the kitchen chopping meat and just let out 2 enormous farts (and quite deliberately, not like there was nothing he do about it)- doesn’t care and doesn’t think it’s a big deal. He’s in the kitchen prepping food,
Am I being unreasonable to not want to eat with him now. I find when he does this sort of thing that it’s so disrespectful and just unpleasant.

Good lord you took offence to a fart grow up.
😂

My colleague was saying her and her husband (newlyweds) have never farted in front of each other and said ‘I think that’s why we have lasted so long!’ (4years). I’ve been with DH for almost 20 years and said ‘Och if me and (DH) went somewhere else to fart we’d never see each other!’ Warts and all!

My Dad was a loud and proud farter and used to let go rippers that would shake the ornaments.

Everyone farts 💨

Ugh.

We all happily eat restaurant food that has certainly been farted around by numerous people. It would be totally unrealistic to assume that restaurant cooks never fart at work.

BeachHutsAndDeckchairs · 27/12/2024 00:19

If he didn't actually shit in his pants, or even drop the pants and shit all over the food, it really isn't a problem, is it?

I would find this disgusting and it's so rude and inconsiderate especially doing that around food. YANBU, I would feel like the food is contaminated now and wouldn't want to eat it

Yeah exactly. The food will be associated with farts now.

BluebirdBoogie · 27/12/2024 00:05

Surely this is a wind-up?? What on earth is the issue with farting around food? Honestly sometimes I think the whole world has gone mad.

Find something important to worry about.

The thing is, I wasn’t to know if there was follow through or not. It sounded like there could have been.

By the end of this thread he'll have shat on your plate, while you were still eating.

BigSilly · 26/12/2024 23:57

Unless he pulled down his undercrackers and squatted over your food whilst he did it, I think your food will be quite safe! Whilst DeBrett's would probably frown on it, I think people should be allowed to fart in their own homes!

FuckKnowsMate · 26/12/2024 23:55

Maybe the meat needed some seasoning?

Easipeelerie · 26/12/2024 23:55

Mooetenchante · 26/12/2024 23:52

Its not great but as long as there's no follow through, not too much of an issue.

It's preparing. Not 'prepping'

How do you know we’re not preppers, and he was farting all over my emergency supplies?

You find farting offensive? You really need to get a grip.

Well, I would think the farther needs to get more of a grip, literally. It’s certainly not polite and I would expect an ‘excuse me’,

BettyBardMacDonald · 26/12/2024 23:48

valentinka31 · 26/12/2024 23:31

really, if he can't just relax at home then where can he?

Many people can relax without emitting offensive flatulence.

When did "relaxing" come to equal "zero effort or consideration for others"???

BettyBardMacDonald · 26/12/2024 23:24

I could never be sexually attracted to someone who does this.

Some people on MN really are uptight

ManchesterLu · 26/12/2024 23:43

Sorry but the number of people who get worked up about farting is seriously weird. It's just wind. You do it, if it's loud you say excuse me.

pennyHD · 26/12/2024 23:43

mathanxiety · 26/12/2024 23:38

You know the food he was preparing was all going to end up as poo eventually, right? And probably loudly announce its imminent departure for the coast before it left the station?

OlympicsRock2 · 26/12/2024 23:34

You are being incredibly precious

BlueSilverCats · 26/12/2024 23:33

Using the word lover gives me the ick more than farting.

He's asleep 🤣 how do you know you don't let off smelly ones in your sleep?! We've been married 35 years and he's absolutely lovely - he's seen me through much worse things than a nocturnal fart and still finds me attractive!

batt3nb3rg · 26/12/2024 23:27

grizzlygrump · 26/12/2024 20:13

I’d find that so off putting. I just don’t want to hear other people’s farts or burps or whatever, just go to the bathroom. I don’t think I am clutching at my pearls, I just think it’s basic courtesy to the people around you.

Go to the bathroom 😂We have a chair in my hallway so I can accompany my husband to the toilet and have somewhere to sit while we have a long chat, this is a good reminder that some people are living very different lives to me 😂
