Do you not live together? Can’t you wish each other Merry Christmas in person?

isthisenoughomly · 26/12/2024 11:32

I think I was expecting something more romantic (nice romantic words on the card or handwritten inside) 🤷🏽‍♀️

Oh well, my DH totally forgot a card for me and I have a general box one.

I'll forgive him, but only because he did the washing up earlier. 😁

(And he got me the Gregg's Top Trumps)

Dingdongmerrilyonsigh · 25/12/2024 16:18

I think it is cute

I would be happy to receive it from my DH and would happily give it to my DH of 27years.

we don’t tend to do Christmas cards to each other but do do birthday cards - really can’t see any issue with the card at all.

ByHeartyCyanMentor · 25/12/2024 16:13

It’s a card, if you like cards it’s not one out of a multipack so don’t see the problem myself.
I’m another who doesn’t exchange cards with DH (or anyone to be honest - I think they are pointless) so my opinion probably isn’t what you are looking for.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 25/12/2024 16:06

It's lovely. I love cute cards. We haven't bothered this year. I never thought about it so I'm glad DH didn't get me one.

siriusblackcat · 25/12/2024 13:22

It's fine.

We don't even bother with cards tbh, we live in the same house and say "happy Christmas" to each other.

Exactly! Never understood the card obsession.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 25/12/2024 14:52

Someone has gone out and chosen a card.
and paid for it.

its says ' to ''someone special''

what more do you want ?

did you want one with to a ' dear wife ' or to ''the one I love''

you got a card
you got a ' specialised ' card

not a bog standard one out of a multi pack

or have you given this card to someone, and s/he is not happy...

HeyPrestoVinegar · 25/12/2024 14:50

Adequate for what purpose?

He probably didn't see one that says Girlfriend on it.

Christmas cards to other household members are 100% pointless.

Carouselfish · 25/12/2024 14:46

Well it is pointless if you just write to blah, happy Christmas, love blah. But we write thanks for things each other has done during the year and other sentiments. So it is something special???!!

Wonderi · 25/12/2024 14:44

It’s more than adequate.
It’s lovely 😻

Who has the problem with it? You or him?

What would be an adequate card in your/his eyes?

SnoopysHoose · 25/12/2024 14:44

Fuck me, is this what some relationships come down to?

CandyCane457 · 25/12/2024 14:43

Adequate in what sense? What were you hoping for?

KiraNerys1 · 25/12/2024 14:39

Adequate?

It's a card, it's Christmassy, what else do you want?

What's wrong with it?

Robynellacottscupoftea · 25/12/2024 14:25

Stop looking for prob. It’s fine.

HooMoo · 25/12/2024 14:23

Yes. It’s fine obviously

WalterdelaMare · 25/12/2024 14:21

Not sure what your point is OP.

I detest naff cards like this, but then, my husband and I don’t give each other cards.

MissFritton65 · 25/12/2024 14:20

I've been married for 20 years and never had a Christmas card from my husband however I've had some amazing presents and he is the nicest man I know; I don't need a cheap piece of paper with a sentiment written by someone else to tell me he cares as I see it every day.

dementedpixie · 25/12/2024 14:20

We don't give cards to each other at Christmas so I don't see what's wrong with it

Mirenamirena · 25/12/2024 14:18

Personally, I find there is an inadequacy of decent cards for partners or ones for “the one I love”. Far more for “to my husband/wife” with the implication of positive feelings for them. At least he thinks you’re special.

Pomegranatecarnage · 25/12/2024 14:16

I wouldn’t even consider giving a card to someone I lived with! I say « Happy Christmas » to them. My OH died 7 years ago. I’d be happy with what you e got.

ToomanyMilesAway · 25/12/2024 14:15

What message was written in it?

ShamblesRock · 25/12/2024 14:14

In seriousness though I'm guessing this is a tip of the iceberg type thing. Do you generally feel unappreciated elsewhere?

However it may just be a lack of choice type thing, lots of husband/wife cards (not applicable) boy/girlfriend (seems a bit casual) maybe then the partner cards were a bit drab, so this was the compromise.

ShamblesRock · 25/12/2024 14:11

After 29 years and 2 kids are you not just at the grunting stage? We're almost there at 23 years.

DreamW3aver · 25/12/2024 14:07

You're going to need to give us some kind of sliding scale of adequacey. How do the number of years and number of children factor, equal importance, some kind of multiple?

Who sets the rules and who makes the final decision?
