All cards are a waste of money and resources

HereForTheAnimals · 26/12/2024 17:29

I couldn't get upset about something that, I assume, will be in the recycling box in a couple of days, but that's just my opinion. It clearly wasn't adequate for you and that's all that matters.

I think I was expecting something more romantic (nice romantic words on the card or handwritten inside) 🤷🏽‍♀️

Is there a change from previous years?

We don't do cards to each other, but if you normally do and this is a change I can understand more why it is bothering you.

Overthebow · 26/12/2024 13:37

I don’t see the problem with it.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 26/12/2024 13:37

Yes

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 26/12/2024 13:36

@HeyPrestoVinegar

ah you're right

in which case I would be more concerned about the lack of a marriage certificate than the title of my Christmas card

SoNiceToComeHomeTo · 26/12/2024 12:59

Looks OK to me. DH remembered it was Christmas in time to buy a card and write something in it, though we don't know what. He probably thought the picture and message are 'cute'.

SnoopysHoose · 26/12/2024 12:58

if DH got me similar for my birthday I'd think he'd lost his mind.
what is wrong with people on these threads? it's a perfectly normal card.

CatsndtheBear · 26/12/2024 12:43

The card is a bit tacky, but it's more about the words inside for me... If the inside AND the outside are a bit shit, then that says a lot.

If you are someone who likes a card, then it's hardly a sacrifice for him to make sure you have a nice one with some kind words. PP sneering about giving cards to partners are being nasty.

Cynic17 · 26/12/2024 12:27

You do know, OP, that cards with Wife or Partner written on the front are generally considered very tacky? Certainly, I don't know anyone these days who would give that kind of card.

Cynic17 · 26/12/2024 12:26

Yes, why wouldn't it be?

Bumcake · 26/12/2024 12:19

Poor sod, fancy being in trouble for sending that.

EmmaMaria · 26/12/2024 12:12

To be honest, lacking any context, after 29 years and 2 kids, if you are judging him by his selection of Christmas card, there is something very wrong with your relationship.

HeyPrestoVinegar · 26/12/2024 12:08

@OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon OP never mentioned a husband

Louisetheroux · 26/12/2024 11:51

We don't exchange Xmas cards but I think I get it OP. The card is tacky...if DH got me similar for my birthday I'd think he'd lost his mind.

chocolatespreadsandwich · 26/12/2024 11:50

Err, do grown ups in a relationship need to buy each other Christmas cards?
I guess if you are apart at Christmas maybe?
Anyway, it looks like a lovely card.

HoppityBun · 26/12/2024 11:49

It seems to be hedging its bets, by not naming the someone. That’s what I think when I see those “to the one I love” cards, too, which will do for pretty much anyone including the wife and the mistress.

It depends what he’s like the rest of the year and it seems likely that he’s hit a nerve by just dialling it in. Otoh I personally don’t see the need to give a card to a partner you live with

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 26/12/2024 11:49

but

you haven't shown us what was written inside the card !

nor have you shown us the card you gave him, and what you wrote inside it.

what are you planning for your 30th Wedding Anniversary ?
it's Pearl btw

CandyCane457 · 26/12/2024 11:48

What does a romantic card look like at Christmas?

And I suppose from the original post we didn’t know what was written inside, so your question was quite vague.

I have to say, my boyfriend of a few years and I always swap cards early December (we live together) and I love it. I don’t necessarily rate the designs he picks for the picture on the front, but for me it’s soo about the words he writes inside. We always write, almost like a mini letter, detailing some fave memories from the year and how we can’t wait to see what the next one brings etc. Then I keep them all in our memory box. But I’m not really arsed what the picture on the front is!

UndeniablyGenXmasOfAWomblingMerryType · 26/12/2024 11:47

Maybe there wasn't one available that said 'partner'? My local card shop has every conceivable option - 'wife's neighbour's girlfriend's cousin' sort of cards, but a lot of shops only have 'spouse' or 'girlfriend/boyfriend' and the latter isn't really appropriate for a 29 year relationship. 'Someone Special' is a nice message in my opinion.

ApolloandDaphne · 26/12/2024 11:47

It says you are special. What more do you want/need?

Coconutter24 · 26/12/2024 11:44

Romantic? You said it’s also from 2 kids?

AlpacaMittens · 26/12/2024 11:43

This card is abuse. LTB.

...

< sarcasm >

Does Christmas make people lose their minds?

Is that what's happened for the other 28 years?

Dragonsandcats · 26/12/2024 11:42

Seems fine to me?
