To be totally and utterly fed up?

I have flu - proper flu, not a bad cold. I feel like absolute and utter crap.

My sister is hosting me and our parents for Christmas day and has been utterly awful towards me for the last couple of days because I'm really struggling. Highlights include "I'm wallowing in self pity" and "I'm fucking ruining Christmas by being so soft"

She has a cold and keeps snapping at me that she's not well either. I've cried more over the past few days than I have in ages with her. Not even sure why I'm posting, just need to vent I guess.

Go home. There's loads of people with flu just now, you need to get some rest and recover.

doneandone · 25/12/2024 13:19

Ah op, it really is a nasty one. I'm on week 3 and have never been hit this hard by a virus (apart from covid). Hope you start to feel better soon. Look after yourself and rest as much as you can.

The Clash song "should I stay, or should I go" is swimming around in my head now!

AhBiscuits · 25/12/2024 13:15

I've had flu and it would have been impossible to attend any kind of gathering. Could barely manage to go downstairs. It turned into pleurisy which didn't go for a month.
Go home. Rest.

BruisedNeckMeat · 25/12/2024 13:13

Don’t go. Go back home and go to bed.

Your sister does sound like she’s being an arse but I would honestly rather someone stayed away than drag themselves along and be a misery guts!

misssunshine4040 · 25/12/2024 13:12

Just go home.

You are a grown up. No one will thank you for spreading your virus and your sister is just pissed as she is hosting and can't pull out

Keepingongoing · 25/12/2024 13:12

Drop your parents and then go and make yourself comfortable at home. If you’ve got flu, you can’t be out socialising.

Indianajet · 25/12/2024 13:11

I have a cold and have removed myself from all festivities- at home with the dogs, drinking a hot toddy and reading my new book.

QuestionableMouse · 25/12/2024 13:11

I genuinely can't remember feeling this unwell on absolutely ages.

I'm currently sitting in the car waiting for my parents before going to my sister's. Dreading it tbh.

You need to go home to bed.

Her unpleasant comments are hardly acting as a pick-me-up.

Well hopefully her cold will develop and she can eat her words! Hardly your fault you’re poorly. Yes disappointing for her but no need to be bitchy about it.

Hope you’re feeling better soon.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 25/12/2024 13:06

I have the same virus and it’s floored me.

Can you leave? Honestly, just go home.
