For the first time in a long time I don't have to make a last minute dash to the shops for a forgotten item so have the whole day to bake and cook. What goodies are you rustling up today? I thought I might make some Christmas muffins, some little tarts, some vol au vents for the buffet later. Anyone cooking something lovely I can shamelessly copy?

I'm making a meringue christmas tree, Yorkshire puds and the red cabbage. And maybe some cheese straws.

Jellycatspyjamas · 24/12/2024 08:11

I have the ham on cooking just now ready to bake tomorrow and I’ve just put the red cabbage on the slow cooker. The carrots and parsnips are par boiled and resting in the fridge in maple syrup.

Sunwindrain · 24/12/2024 08:10

Cherry and sultana scones to have with our mid morning coffee. Sausage rolls and mince pies for this evenings buffet.

Par-boiling potatoes and preparing other vegetables ready for tomorrow's lunch.

Today is sausage roll day. I shall be making 643 small ones!

That is a very specific number 😆

fixingmylife · 24/12/2024 08:05

I'm going to be making some mincemeat as I need to use up some suet that was left over in the packet after making a Christmas pud.

Gcn · 24/12/2024 08:03

Sticky toffee pudding and gingerbread tiramisu for boxing day. A pavlova for tomorrow.

Createausername1970 · 24/12/2024 07:59

I did mince pies and sausages rolls yesterday. Today is the turkey and the ham. And maybe some gingerbread, but that's not definite.

Whatbloodysummer · 24/12/2024 07:57

I'm baking croissants today, as for some bloody reason the Co-Op have decided to not bake anything fresh today ! 😡

Also finishing the trifle

User19876536484 · 24/12/2024 07:57

I made a lemon drizzle cake earlier. It’s the first one I have done so I hope it tastes ok.

doneandone · 24/12/2024 07:57

I'll be making the trifle for tomorrow and some mice pies and ham tarts

HelenWheels · 24/12/2024 07:56

Skigal86 · 24/12/2024 07:55

I did mince pies yesterday and I’ve got to do garlic and Stilton mushrooms for tomorrows lunch and make jelly for the Boxing Day trifle (I don’t have space to make the trifle until after lunch tomorrow!) DH wants to par boil the potatoes and peel veg this afternoon.

NormaLouiseBates · 24/12/2024 07:54

Cooking the Christmas ham this afternoon and I'll probably peel and par boil the potatoes to give me a bit of a head start tomorrow!

LetMeGoogleThat · 24/12/2024 07:53

Only baking mince pies, but also making a mushroom and a mackerel pate. One dairy free, one full of dairy!

LimeYellow · 24/12/2024 07:51

Trifle and bread sauce. DH will be doing sausage rolls.

MagpiePi · 24/12/2024 07:51

Puff pastry and nut meat filling for the nut roast and gravy. I might par boil the potatoes.

Portabella · 24/12/2024 07:50

Cheese scones, going to visit my poorly dad today and I know he likes them.

ShadesmarBead · 24/12/2024 07:50

Nothing. I haven't baked since school, 45 years ago!

treacledan71 · 24/12/2024 07:44

Not a great Baker but think will try some shortbread. Going to make my yorkshire puds for tomorrow too.

AgeGapBbe · 24/12/2024 07:43

Chocolate fridge cake- a Christmas tradition in my family, hummus for the buffet this evening and I’ll be arranging a pigs in blankets pinwheel!

Lex345 · 24/12/2024 07:40

These all sound gorgeous! I'm hopeless at minced pies (I don't really like them and cant seem to get the filling right) so I have bought a load instead.
Festive shortbread sounds lovely!
