Why when writing on here can't you just say the whole word instead of dd mil ect it's really annoying and lazy

Isn't that of fucking course? I've always thought it was!

Oh, maybe! Well that's fine in that case!

PokerFriedDips · 22/12/2024 05:54

Hey I'm gonna join a community and then tell them their cultural signifiers are all wrong and inconvenient to me personally so they should change to suit me.

Etcetera is the word 🧐

LolaB00 · 22/12/2024 05:47

FionaSkates · 21/12/2024 18:48

‘Et cetera’.

Not ‘Electro convulsive therapy’.

Really? I don't think you are 'getting' this thread 😂😂😂

Jostuki · 22/12/2024 05:20

I hate the abbreviations.

I call it the 'u wot mate' vocabulary.

IdylicDay · 22/12/2024 03:10

It is etc. It stands for Et Cetera

LostPups · 22/12/2024 00:29

Punctuation? Etc ... ?
😵‍💫🤷🙄

SwordToFlamethrower · 22/12/2024 00:28

I struggle with remembering acronyms too. Drives me potty

QuestionableMouse · 22/12/2024 00:27

niadainud · 22/12/2024 00:26

I also hate "ofc" which doesn't make any sense. Surely it should be "oc", if anything.

Isn't that of fucking course? I've always thought it was!

I don't mind acronyms in some cases, though I don't know why we have to put "D" in front of everything. "D dog" ... it's quicker just to write "dog" for goodness sake.

There's also a really irritating growing trend of just writing "w" for "with". People are typing really long, eloquent messages, but then using "w". For example "I'm really struggling w things this winter, can anyone help me?" Why!

Actually it’s etc!

Not ect. 🤷‍♀️

adverb
adverb: etc.; adverb: &c.

  1. used at the end of a list to indicate that further, similar items are included.
  2. "protect seedling from damage caused by feet, lawnmowers, pets, etc."

Why are you telling me something I already know? That was the point of my post, I was replying to the OP.

Tomatina · 22/12/2024 00:07

👁✍ like a 😇, so there.

Actually it’s etc. short for et cetera. Et means “and”, whilst cetera denotes the rest, thus meaning “and the rest”. Now combined into the one word etcetera. As the abbreviation does not include the final letter, there should be a full stop, which is usually ignored. Hth.
