He left me in city centre…

Went in to City Centre today for DH’s birthday. A few of his friends had also arranged to go in today. I asked if he’d prefer to go out with said friends and he repeatedly said no.

Queue 4pm when he began acting like a total arse to me. We went to the usual Christmas market, had some food, waded our way through the crowds to get anywhere and went on a bar crawl.

He’s useless with directions so I usually guide us between bars etc. I asked him multiple times where he wanted to go next and he kept saying that he didn’t mind.

Went to his favourite bar, queued for 40 mins to get inside, got one drink. Whilst standing basically the toilet door, people slamming in to us spilling drink down my back I asked if he wanted to maybe go somewhere more local where we could actually get to the bar and have a dance?

He stormed out of the bar rambling on that I should have stayed at home, even though I spent weeks planning the night and booking in to his favourite restaurant which he made me cancel last night costing me 80£ for late cancellation!

I tried calling him and he told me to F off and said he didn’t care how I got home because I’m not his problem. Therefore, leaving me stranded in the city. Every taxi I stopped was booked and I had to call my elderly dad to come and get me. I felt like such a dick.

Obviously DH had this planned so he could go off and meet friends instead of just saying in the first place. I am so hurt.

He has just came home bashing the door with three others trying to get in and I haven’t opened it. First of all I was asleep and they woke me with the banging, but second of all - bringing people back here when he knows I would be in bed?

AIBU for not opening the door?

I think I love you @Craics90 you are a legend.
I’d get as much evidence of his spending, see if he has any secret accounts in his paperwork. Anything he could sneak in whilst you’re out to sell that you would be devastated at losing. Change passwords on online banking and social media, block him too, mute your phone and just ignore the wank stain’s attempt to communicate. Let the sage do its work, it’s obviously working because your key broke in the lock!

DearDenimEagle · 17/12/2024 17:24

Blood and snotters , Tears R Us, PoorMe, You are my one and only, life without you is not an option, I’ll kill myself if you don’t let me back. It will be different , I’ll change

All or any of the above. Possibly interspersed with threats

Glad you have queries re rings, finding £20k etc..it will really help you be strong in the face of his onslaught.
You’re doing great. I hope you kept the baggies and bagged them..if there are drugs and fingerprints ….. you got a great weapon there to maybe withhold some custody

Ah girls, as one of you predicted, he's called me three times just one after another.

I've got a voicemail but I'll wait that out and won't ne opening in a hurry.

I'll assume that the messages will start flowing too.

One thing that's for sure, he can play the fiddle all he likes. I won't be dancing to his tune.

You’re an absolute queen and don’t forget it lass 💚

WearyAuldWumman · 17/12/2024 17:16

By the way, FB round my way - Central Scotland - keeps reporting strange men trying doors at random.

Maybe get a chain fitted while the locksmith is there? Even get a wedge to put inside the doors at night?

I genuinely had some chancer on my property last night, but the garage security light - which also catches you when you're halfway up the path to the front door - came on. Quite blinding and startling it is, if you don't expect it.

I've taken passports, children's details, house documents etc to parents. Banking on my side is all online. Join account is really just for scrap like holidays etc.

Would you believe my key snapped in the barrel just now 🙈 terrible tragedy this close to Christmas. Waiting on a local tradesman coming to replace - the wee gem that he is.

He didn't like da knowing is right, friends wives have all been in contact today and I've laid it on thick with a few home truths. To hell with them all!!

MIL is like wee a hamster who's gotten in to bag of smarties. Thinks she's Prada but is more Pennies if you catch my drift? Currently on husband no 4, don't know how she can be arsed with another if I'm truthful.

20K never mentioned to me and I certainly haven't been any better off because of it. I have it in file for Solicitor. What else would I need to include?

Shame about the key. Accidents happen. In my experience the cold weather makes it more likely. nods Glad you've got a good locksmith.

Ahhh girl, shit's about to get intense.
I am married to the guy who you're married to now, I've been my husband's rehab though and dare I say, successfully (but I don't recommend unless you have shoulders than can take 1 billion tons for the rest of your life), rather than kicking him to the kerb like I should've.
He is going to gaslight the fuck out of you.
Them bank statements and bags you've found, photograph the lot. There will probably be a lot of money transfered to and from his friends, those are the important bits.
Keep all your messages and put a shortcut on your phones homescreen for an audio recorder. You will come face to face again (or door to face) make sure you hit that record button. I love your attitude, you sound like an absolute belter. You've already done the hardest bit, just stay strong now through what he's gonna throw at you xx

Three weeks ago you know he took off with my wedding and engagement ring to be cleaned up. Nice surprise thing to do he said, nice for Christmas. I wonder had he all this planned a while? Leaving me but couldn't quite do the job?

Maybe new lady friend will appear wearing them (lol), if not I'll be running down to the jeweller, picking them up, selling them on and getting myself something lovely.

Best friend and SIL are staying with me, they've saged the house - I've made myself scarce 🙈

Is it possible he's tried to pawn them to get money for coke?

VexedofVirginiaWater · 17/12/2024 17:05

£20k?! You don't think it's all gone up his nose do you?

(PS - I think you're brilliant!)

teaandtwigs · 17/12/2024 17:01

God, that is terrible luck your key breaking like that, and in the barrel too. Thank goodness your locks can be changed quickly 😘

OP, you sound awesome and I'm so glad you've got good friends + family around you

Caerulea · 17/12/2024 16:58

Gosh darn that's a damn shame about your key, I can't believe it.. I... Just... Can't ahem

Don't listen to the message, get someone else to for you. Don't allow the little weasel voice into your head at all. Silly little man that he is.

I wonder how many of the partners of his friends are looking at their other halves askance this afternoon.

betterangels · 17/12/2024 16:46

Your description of your MIL is amusing. Less so that he apparently hid 20k. Really such a prince.. mention the money to the lawyer.

Congratulations for being shot of the coked up twat. You've been strong. You are. Good luck.

Do you mean MIL is crackers? A madster?Lol
£20k from mum and never mentioned it? He has big secrets and I would advise you to stash all your important documents, any documents of his bank statements and anything of sentimental value at your parents. I would also keep a key in your door so when your home he can’t get in by himself, get a bolt for your back door too so you are safe when you’re asleep. He didn’t like your Da knowing his true self and I think there will be much that comes out about him that he won’t want anyone knowing.

I would be a large supporter of Womens Aid. Friends and I would do a lot of our coffee mornings/silly nights etc for Women's Aid.

I haven't been there about myself because I think there are so many other women who are much more desperate and deserving of their help.

I've a good set of brothers, SIL's, mam, da & friends behind me, and my lovely little ones who keep me smiling every day.

I've a decent job, decent enough pay, money in the bank, food in the cupboards and warm clothes. I'm counting my blessings, I think reading your messages has made me realise just how unhappy I have been.

Solicitor app is Monday morning, Da is coming as he's friendly with the man 🤞🏼

I haven't cried yet. I do feel sad but some part of me feels like my stress has all been lifted.

And again, to you all - I cannot thank you enough for all of your kind words and messages that I have received.

I know Christmas is never smooth sailing, but I hope you all have a good one. Please know you'll all be in my thoughts. 🌟💖

You have done AMAZINGLY well! I’m so glad you have taken these important steps to safeguard you and your family.

A wee word about Women’s Aid - so I felt like that too, that because it was ‘only’ emotional abuse and threatened violence, and he hadn’t physically hurt me, that I didn’t really deserve their support and would be wasting their time. I did go in the end and it was invaluable support. If you do need that support they will ABSOLUTELY be there for you because abuse is abuse is abuse - the impacts are just as bad. Just wanted to say. <3

@Donsyb Do you know I found empty bags inside his shoes when I packed him up.

Some in the gym bag that the children would use when at the swimmers!!!

What a fucking scum bag & pathetic to boot. The kids swimming bag?! Jfc

I wonder if he's actually in a shit tonne of debt if you're finding baggies all over the place. Do you think he was doing it at home?

I've never heard of cleaning up rings

It’s actually pretty common, especially with expensive jewellry. I just don’t believe that’s what he was actually doing!

Someone asked about my MIL - she lives in the US for about 17ish years now. She's absolutely biscuits at the best of times. She was due to come for Christmas but I've told her not to bother. She thinks golden son is never to blame. But if I drank as much whiskey as she did I'd think all was rosy too 😊💃🏼

Oh ok, but wouldn't it be DD though in that case? Just trying to figure out where the A comes into it.

She calls him Da. She's Irish, so perfectly usual

Really? It’s fairly common.

Bit unlikely for this toerag to have been so thoughtful though.

@Bumcake I boil mine up in hot water and baking soda, so when he had the magnificent idea of taking them for cleaning I was a little confused you know

@Minc I have a lot of pictures, I have also came across bank statements and MIL sent 20k in July to DH personal account. Never heard it mentioned prior so I'm wondering did he need it or was it a gift
