He’s fucking locked me out.

Basically this. I’ve text him as I can’t get in, I’ve just finished work. He’s on a works Xmas party.

Said he was setting off at 8:45 and he’d be home for 9 so I said cool, take the key.

Now it’s 10pm and I’m sat in a fucking bus shelter because he’s locked me out and won’t come back with the keys, he’s out and apparently I’m unreasonable for asking him to come home to at least let me in.

I haven’t a clue what to do, it’s 4°, my street is poorly lit and this place doesn’t shut til 12. I can’t afford a lock change so that’s out of the question and my mums not in. So I literally have to just wait.

No it really isn’t.

The reason there is one key is because after constant lost fucking keys I got sick of him having one. He’s 15 min away in a car. I’ll have to get the bus then be met with world war fucking 3 for going to here he is

So he expects you to wait in the cold and dark rather than pick up the keys. And he will abuse you for not doing so. That plus the fact you gave to last key to someone who regularly loses them, tells us everything we need to about him. He is abusive and you need to LTB before he destroys you completely.

If you private message me OP I might be able to put some money into a paypal account for you to get a room.

NO! Mumsnet advise against this all the time on these types of threads. Don't do it.

Suzuki76 · 13/12/2024 22:37

You can't sit there for 2 hours then meekly follow him in when he unlocks the door. Come on. Find some anger and end it.

Christ, grow up, the pair of you.

Jeez ..you're saying grow up?? She trusted him to be home!
She may not have money for taxis, hotels, buses etc!! Maybe your first thought should have been a woman alone at this time of night???? She obviously needs support!!

Herewegoagain84 · 13/12/2024 22:36

Is there anywhere else you can just go tonight? A parent / friend etc? Just don’t be there when he gets home. And then make plans to get rid.

More chance of stepping in rocking horse shit than him paying for anything like that.

Jebatronic · 13/12/2024 22:36

Proverb “People count up the faults of those who keep them waiting” . In your case OP this seems like seriously good advice.
Meanwhile try and stay warm somewhere while you make a list

mossylog · 13/12/2024 22:35

You can't let the relationship continue after this. Have some respect for yourself. Kip over at a friend or family member's tonight and end things in the morning.

starstar84 · 13/12/2024 22:34

Dump asap. Please! He’s an absolute cunt.

I would if I knew where he was but he won’t tell me.

Sorry I’ve just seen this. Do you have a contact number for anyone he works with? Otherwise I think you need to known a friend or family member and stay there for the night if possible… don’t answer his calls.

FuckingFreezing1 · 13/12/2024 22:19

It’s not worth the aggro turning up. I can’t be bothered listening to the shit that will last about 3 days and result in me apologising.

Why are you with such a loser?

Heronwatcher · 13/12/2024 22:34

Go to a friend/ family member’s house. Or stick a premier inn on a credit card if you can.
Reclaim keys tomorrow.
Get a new set cut and then put them in a key safe or safe place at home.
Never lend your keys to him again. It’s asking for trouble.
See your GP to get some counselling and make plans to leave him.

Catapultaway · 13/12/2024 22:08

😂 people lose stuff all the time.

A taxi will be a lot cheaper than a locksmith.

Anuta77 · 13/12/2024 22:33

Edingril · 13/12/2024 22:17

So if he loses keys so often why would you not have had it then let him in

Not sure of the intelligence level on either of you to be totally honest

The OP is sitting in a dark bus shelter in the cold and all you can do is insult her intelligence level? I'm not sure about your emotional intelligence level.

BellaCiaoBellaCiao · 13/12/2024 22:33

Apillthatmakesyousayalltherightstuff · 13/12/2024 22:11

Can he send you the key in a cab that he pays for?

I was going to suggest this

HolyPeaches · 13/12/2024 22:33

Jesus how selfish of him.

Who owns the house? Or are you renting?

muggitymugface · 13/12/2024 22:33

Sadly the key is tonight's problem. hope you get in/somewhere safe and warm soon.

He, and his behaviour and attitude, are a longer term and more serious problem.

We don't know every aspect of your relationship with him etc but from where I'm sitting he's not a keeper.

RobinHood19 · 13/12/2024 22:33

Whose house is this?

If the relationship is shit, don’t stay in it. You’re allowed to leave, you’re allowed to not “work at it”.

Go get your key. Pack his bags, leave them outside, add a note saying the relationship is over. Them tomorrow change the locks again just in case.

Pipconkermash · 13/12/2024 22:32

This relationship has to end. He sounds fucking awful.

CucumberBagel · 13/12/2024 22:32

This is reminding me of the recent "I'm going to sit on the kerb and fall asleep rather than walk home after an argument with my selfish partner" poster.

Chowtime · 13/12/2024 22:32

OP You're just going to have to wait for him, if you don't have money and you don't know where he is

In the morning, take your key back, get a copy made and put that copy in a keysafe and don't give him a key again. Then in the new year, make longer term plans, this isn't going to last much longer anyway, is it?
