He’s fucking locked me out.

Basically this. I’ve text him as I can’t get in, I’ve just finished work. He’s on a works Xmas party.

Said he was setting off at 8:45 and he’d be home for 9 so I said cool, take the key.

Now it’s 10pm and I’m sat in a fucking bus shelter because he’s locked me out and won’t come back with the keys, he’s out and apparently I’m unreasonable for asking him to come home to at least let me in.

I haven’t a clue what to do, it’s 4°, my street is poorly lit and this place doesn’t shut til 12. I can’t afford a lock change so that’s out of the question and my mums not in. So I literally have to just wait.

It’s a joint tenancy. It’s a flat. Fob entry. He’s got key and fob

Well that's something. Buzz a neighbour and get into the building at least.

Judgmental ............

People accept this behaviour as they probably have male apologists tell them well he isn’t THAT bad… Give me strength!

FuckingFreezing1 · 13/12/2024 22:41

I do have the money? I don’t have the money for an emergency locksmith which is over £200 and I’m not paying for it anyway. It’s not my fault he’s like this.

If a friend confided in you her tale of woe, what would you tell her?

You're isolated from friends and living with a childishman or an idiot.

Where do you want to be next Christmas? Start the process of making your new life.

FuckItItsFine · 13/12/2024 22:19

I’ll never understand why people stay in relationships with people who they hate and seem to hate them. It’s fucking insane. I have more care and liking for my postie than you seem to for each other. Do you understand what a relationship is? Being with someone that you find good, like, love, care about?!?! Someone you’ve chosen for those reasons? Not the person who treats you horribly and is selfish.

Judgmental ............

Tiswa · 13/12/2024 22:43

he knows you can’t get it, he knows he has the only key - it’s not like this is accidental he was aware and took the keys anyway because he didn’t want any inconvenience of being tied to the time you finished.

he knows you are stuck outside and he doesn’t care, he probably also knows you won’t do anything because he has worn you down he won’t even apologise - chances are he won’t be home for hours and it simply doesn’t bother him at all

Tereseta · 13/12/2024 22:43

Let this be the final wake up call to leave this vile prick. This is not a loving relationship.

Is there a pub or late cafe/ takeaway you could wait in? Could you buzz a neighbour to at least get in the building?

Seriously need to leave and never look back after this

RadioCountdown · 13/12/2024 22:42

What a turd!!

Is there a pub you could wait in or something?

you need to finish with him asap.

HollyBaubles77 · 13/12/2024 22:42

You’re right OP. It is not your fault. I hope you get into your home soon and I hope you find the strength to leave this utter twat.

MoleAndBadger · 13/12/2024 22:42

Chowtime · 13/12/2024 22:40

She doesn't have the money to get there

Not sure where the OP is but you can get on many London buses and not pay (I'm not condoning it btw). Failing that, can your mum transfer some funds into your account?

ShouldIEvenBother · 13/12/2024 22:42

OP please call a friend or relative to come and pick you up and let you stay the night.

You can deal with this tosser tomorrow, but right now it's freezing, dark outside, and getting late.

Clearly you need to end things with this twit. I think you know this. I hope his behaviour at present gives you the push you need to free youself from him.

At least ring the buzzer so a neighbour will let you in the block

mathanxiety · 13/12/2024 22:40

FuckingFreezing1 · 13/12/2024 22:08

The reason there is one key is because after constant lost fucking keys I got sick of him having one. He’s 15 min away in a car. I’ll have to get the bus then be met with world war fucking 3 for going to here he is

When you get the key, go back and pack.

His stuff or tours, doesn't matter.

One of you needs to be the one who moves out.

FoulSeaOwl · 13/12/2024 22:40

FuckingFreezing1 · 13/12/2024 22:19

It’s not worth the aggro turning up. I can’t be bothered listening to the shit that will last about 3 days and result in me apologising.

Op, you have totally nailed it. It's not worth the aggro. Get the keys. Make sure he gives them to you while he is inside with his colleagues so he won't want to look abusive. Leave while he is still with his colleagues. Go home and never ever let him into your flat again. Why are you living like this? This is the opportunity to get out otherwise you will have a lifetime more of aggro. It will never get better. Good luck

Bluebellyhedge · 13/12/2024 22:40

Please leave him. You deserve so much more

I'm probably being dim but why can't you go to a friend or family members house?

She doesn't have the money to get there

FuckingFreezing1 · 13/12/2024 22:40

My mums not in.
And cos I’ve not really got any friends.

Exactly. There HAS to be somewhere the OP can go!

This. ^

Again OP - your fault for your partner’s selfishness. NOT. So angered that women are blamed for everything even their crappy partner taking their key, refusing to bring it home and then threatening the OP with hostility if she dares approach him for it.

More chance of stepping in rocking horse shit than him paying for anything like that.

I hope this incident will give you strength to get rid of him. I'm sorry this is happening to you.

cassy16 · 13/12/2024 22:38

Just get in a cab and get the key if he dosnt want you there get him to bring them out to the cab

CucumberBagel · 13/12/2024 22:32

This is reminding me of the recent "I'm going to sit on the kerb and fall asleep rather than walk home after an argument with my selfish partner" poster.

This is absolutely nothing like that and you know it. That op was drunk and behaving a bit daft. This op is stone cold sober and is likely in an abusive relationship. So stop trying to be all clever because you are showing yourself up

HoundsOfHelfire · 13/12/2024 22:38

WhatsApp your friends and relatives and ask for a bed for the night. You’ve been locked out, you need to be warm and inside.

Please leave him in the next few weeks, you deserve so much better. Leaving you locked out at night in the cold and WW3 is not normal behaviour. He actually sounds abusive.

Whose house is it?
