He’s fucking locked me out.

FuckingFreezing1 · 13/12/2024 22:04

Basically this. I’ve text him as I can’t get in, I’ve just finished work. He’s on a works Xmas party.

Said he was setting off at 8:45 and he’d be home for 9 so I said cool, take the key.

Now it’s 10pm and I’m sat in a fucking bus shelter because he’s locked me out and won’t come back with the keys, he’s out and apparently I’m unreasonable for asking him to come home to at least let me in.

I haven’t a clue what to do, it’s 4°, my street is poorly lit and this place doesn’t shut til 12. I can’t afford a lock change so that’s out of the question and my mums not in. So I literally have to just wait.

I do have the money? I don’t have the money for an emergency locksmith which is over £200 and I’m not paying for it anyway. It’s not my fault he’s like this.

It kinda is... 🤷‍♀️

takethattastic · 13/12/2024 23:02

Firstly this is awful and some of the replies are too. Women should support women not bash them when they are down!! If you cant get to him or he doesn't come back try and get in touch with women's aid or the police/homeless unit. They will geko. I hope you find somewhere safe and warm. Please.take care xx

SecondUsername4me · 13/12/2024 23:01

So does he also lose the fobs? They aren't easy or cheap to replace.

FuckingFreezing1 · 13/12/2024 22:46

After 6 years of shit like this who’s to say I don’t hate myself.

You deserve not to wait and find a hotel room for the night and face everything else in the morning

LauderSyme · 13/12/2024 23:01

Can I just say some of the replies here are not just unhelpful and unfeeling, they are downright hostile.

You posters clearly have no concept of what it is like to be in OP's shoes. Some of you reveal a deep lack of sympathy let alone empathy, instead you're sitting here complacently, smug about your ability to manage your own life 'better', loftily judging her organisational skills and decisions.

You should be fucking ashamed of yourselves.

BunnyLake · 13/12/2024 23:00

I think this should be treated as your last straw. You’re not getting anything good from this relationship. Tonight is a huge sign for you to end things, it’s pretty rock bottom tonight now isn’t it? You’re out late in the cold and you can’t get in because of that twat. Enough already.

FoulSeaOwl · 13/12/2024 23:00

Oh no. Just saw you don't know where he is. Op you need to get somewhere warm and safe. It's too cold to be out for hours and a bus shelter isn't the safest place to be. What if he doesn't even get home at 12? What if he goes somewhere else? Wgwt if he hooks up woth someone and spends the whole night out? Could you go to a hotel, explain the situation and stay in the lobby? Any 24h supermarket? Can you get in touch with your mum? Failing everything I'd call the police. I don't know if they would help but it's worth a try.

You need to get out of this relationship but for now just get somewhere safe

tolerable · 13/12/2024 22:59

FFS!!!! sorry if i'm wrong op- IT ISNT BOUT THE FUCKING KEYS.
well,not in my head.

Hekett · 13/12/2024 22:59

you have two options really. One is get the keys. Two is go to a hotel.

Either way I’d be getting the keys back asap and chucking him out at the first opportunity. Easily done when he doesn’t have his own set of keys due to losing them every 5 minutes…

mydudero · 13/12/2024 22:59

I don't understand how you would let this manchild out with the last set of keys to your place. What if he loses those ones? Sorry but if he can't be trusted with a key then he's either to come back once you're home, or better yet in the bin!

TheABC · 13/12/2024 22:56

He's abusive.

There's also a good chance he will be drinking past midnight without a single thought about you.

  1. If you can afford it, get to a cheap hotel or room. Failing that, see if one of the neighbours will let you in.
  2. Make plans to leave him ASAP. You can get help from women's aid. Keep quiet about doing so until you are safe.
  3. Good luck, OP. You deserve better than this.

There are still good people on this earth OP. X

This is reminding me of the recent "I'm going to sit on the kerb and fall asleep rather than walk home after an argument with my selfish partner" poster.

She's said that he won't tell her where he is ...it's not her that's at fault, it's his! And she trying to deal with it

myslippersarepink · 13/12/2024 22:56

FuckingFreezing1 · 13/12/2024 22:18

The reason he has my keys is because he didn’t want to stay late and he would be back before I finished work. Fuck me sorry I don’t get a key cut every 2 days incase he loses them again.

If he keeps losing them then you don't ever give him yours, he should be reliant on you letting him in not the other way round.

UniqueOP · 13/12/2024 22:55

TheHappiestChristmasTree · 13/12/2024 22:52

Tempting, but she shouldn't do this, because people can die of hypothermia easily. It creeps up on people and they don't realise. There was a horrible case where I live a few years ago where someone sat down on a park bench on their way home from a night out, in winter. She was found sitting there, dead, a few hours later.

mumtoababygirl · 13/12/2024 22:54

Your logic is flawed. He keeps losing keys practically constantly youve made it sound like yet you’ve entrusted him with the only set you have? What if he loses these while he’s out?

mrsrabbit33 · 13/12/2024 22:54

FWIW Dh and I managed with one key between us for months. We just used to leave it under a plant pot if we were the last one to lock up.

Op you can't sit in the cold and wait for him to come home. Imagine that situation. It won't be pleasant. The best thing you can do is get yourself to a travelodge or similar, have a nice relaxing night to yourself, a hot bath, a good sleep and then seriously think about the future of this relationship.

Don't listen to the 'grow up' pointless comments here. Some sad people just enjoy sticking the boot in when someone is already in a dire situation. Just get yourself somewhere safe and warm where you won't have to deal with this bellend for tonight at least.

vibratosprigato · 13/12/2024 22:54

Don't rely on him coming home by midnight. You can't wait outside in the cold. Get a taxi or something to a local hotel and have it out with him in the morning.

Get a taxi to where? The OP doesn't know where he is!

UniqueOP · 13/12/2024 22:53

Hi OP, do you best to get yourself somewhere warm. People have been known to freeze to death outside, and it creeps up on you slowly. Wherever you have to go, a pub, McDonald's, just do it. Can you go to your mum's for the night once she's home?

You poor love, I'm so sorry your partner speaks to you so horribly. My exh was just the same, and it got worse and worse and worse over the years. I'm sure he would have ended up hitting me if we'd stayed together. The nastiness and complete disrespect and contempt were so horrible and made me feel pretty worthless. No one deserves to be treated like that for no reason, and it breaks my heart to think of any fellow woman being spoken to like that, because I know what it's like, and how un-deserved and bullying it is.

This is a problem for tomorrow, when you're warm and have had a night's sleep, but can you move in with your mum until your rental lease it up? You shouldn't be in a relationship where he's horrible to you. You'd be better off being single for a thousand years rather than being with someone like that. Hugs to you, OP.

Get a taxi to where he is, get the keys, go home and go to bed and sleep. Lock him out and see how he likes it! 🤣

Me, I would go get the key, then go home and lock him out, see how he likes it!

Whathappensnowplease · 13/12/2024 22:51

Gosh there are some seriously unpleasant posts on this thread.

OP you really can't just sit out in the cold. You will be ill, or in danger if hypothermia.

At the very least do as a pp suggested and ring a neighbours bell and get into the building.

And you really should finish this relationship. This man is putting you in danger with his selfish, nasty behaviour.

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 13/12/2024 22:18

I’d be looking at booking into a travel lodge or the like.

If she can’t afford a lock smith I’m guessing she can’t afford a hotel either.
