I’m sure we’ve all got a Michael Ball or Buble Christmas album, but what other Christmas albums are good to listen to?

My contribution is Jamie Callum’s ‘ Piano Man at Christmas’. Some gorgeous original songs, and it’s become my default ‘wrapping Christmas present up’ music. (And you don’t have to be a jazz lover to enjoy it).

I used to play A Christmas Gift For You from Phil Spector - not sure if he’s now been cancelled or not though

Obv he turned out to be a trash human (putting it mildly) but I'll always play that album at Christmas time.

Barenaked Ladies - Barenaked for the Holidays

Has an amazing song featuring Bublé about elves complaining about their working conditions 😄

Some songs are beautiful, some are silly, some relatable. They also have Hanukkah songs on it.

Highly recommend.

Oh also the Very Special Christmas series has a lot of good songs. Some original some covers.

I love Oi To The World by No Doubt the most. SUCH A BANGER.

Mariah Carey's original one. Really good album. If you like John Denver, husband Rocky Mountain Christmas is lovely.

Just started working through the suggestions. I’d forgotten what a lovely voice John Denver has. Lovely album.

The Unthanks have just released a very beautiful album called In Winter.

I also listen to a lot of Kate Rusby's albums - a combination of traditional carols, some original songs and some more modern songs. Her version of "Santa Never Brings Me A Banjo" is wonderful!

A Christmas Together, by John Denver and the Muppets. The twelve days of Christmas is my standout track.

I personally love the 'Ultra Lounge Christmas Cocktails albums' (easily found on Spotify), there are 3 of them, something a little different, very jazzy and 1950's / 1960's ish. They never fail to make me smile and get into the Christmas spirit. Volume 2 (with the green cover) is a great one to start with! And 'Christmas Trumpets' on volume 1 (red cover track 3) is so jolly!

The Gritterman narrated by Paul Whitehouse, but it is a bit of a tear jerker

The Wurzels Christmas Album.

It's pure cheese but very funny!

Nat King Cole Merry Christmas

My favourite carol is Huron Carole (Twas in the Moon of Wintertime), the first Canadian carol, written in 1643. I grew up to Tom Jackson singing it, but have heard the Sarah McLaulan version in Wonderland which is good

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 12/12/2024 10:58

Ella and Louis Christmas is my favourite, plus Ella Wishes You a Swinging Christmas.....her voice is like a warm, Christmassy hug!

xILikeJamx · 12/12/2024 10:38

Not sure if its an album or just a playlist on Spotify but I like one called "Christmas with the Rat Pack"

I love the Robbie Williams rat pack album at Christmas, I can't remember if it's Christmas songs or just makes me feel Christmassy, his new ones good too.
