Child Safeguarding Win, Puberty Blockers have been indefinitely banned across the ENTIRE of the UK (for off label use, precocious puberty use remains)

A great day for child safeguarding, this is evidence, reason and medical expertise over pressure groups.

A terrible shame for those children that this is too late for, who have been permanently harmed by ideologues and will never be able to have their body back the way it should have grown.

This is what happens when real history is rewritten by axe-grinding transphobes keen to erase the truth and then fed to hack journalists desperate to manufacture an outrage bait story.

GIDS was making referrals for GnRH agonist treatment for gender incongruent youth long, long before 2011. Many of us went through that system long before WPUK and JK Rowling started the bandwagon of making attacking our treatment your entire personality.

You do not know our story. Frankly, that is a mercy in many ways. The clinicians in both GIDS and adult services had the foresight to protect us.

And here…

So I’m curious about any evidence you could provide showing that puberty blockers were prescribed in the UK for gender dysphoria prior to this?

I didn’t take my information from JK Rowling. It’s publicly available information on RCGP website here https://www.rcgp.org.uk/representing-you/policy-areas/transgender-care

@ButterflyHatched you can't have been that young when you began treatment if you're in your 40s now? Puberty blockers haven't been available to treat gender dysphoria for very long in the UK.

They only became available in the 2000s
So even if you're only 40 now, you'd have been 27 in 2011 when the uncontrolled study opened, and 30 when they became available outside of that in 2014?

You claim you were very young when treatment began so how can that be so?

the people unconvincingly hijacking exclusionary feminist messaging in order to take our healthcare away

Healthcare should be safe and based on sound evidence. This isn't taking healthcare away, this is righting a wrong which should never have been able to happen. Children have been caused irreparable damage, it should be a national scandal.

Exactly. Health care is not being taken away the RIGHT healthcare needs to be supplied. That happens to not be surgery and drugs.

It's brilliant news!

Anyone advocating for arresting the development of children is a massive red flag.

Ytcsghisn · 13/12/2024 07:40

It was a hardly a difficult decision to make. Most everyday, regular people don’t subscribe to this batshittery anyway.

The fact that is hadn’t been banned already shows how the woke mind virus has infected those in power.

I suppose that's why studies keep finding them to be safe and effective then?

Not one study has ever found them safe and effective. Not one. Studies - including by the Mayo Clinic - have found they are dangerous.

Please don't lie.

Are you having an extra good think about which ones to post @ButterflyHatched ?

Because it seemed like it should be a simple thing for you to do.

I assumed @ButterflyHatched was busy researching the names of trans Holocaust victims to share with us.

This is great news. Not only does it safeguard children but it's hopefully a step forward towards everyone being able to present as they wish, while being accepting and at peace with the bodies they have.

Amen.

You act as if health care that you choose and dictate is somehow a right?

nobody is denying you healthcare - they’re just saying that taking drugs that don’t work and surgery that does not work is not the healthcare you need - you can and SHOULD have the healthcare you NEED absolutely 100% like we all should.

@ButterflyHatched if you got treatment when you were young then how come you continue to experience dysphoria? Then what was the point of the treatment?

There are internal and external sources of dysphoria. Some comes from how we perceive ourselves in relation to our bodies (internal). Some comes from awareness of how others perceive us (external). Some comes from the results of those perceptions - discrimination, physical and psychological harms including denial of healthcare, etc (external).

Treatment is a best effort, not a universal panacea. It has certainly made my life so, so much better and I doubt you'd find a single person who knows me who would disagree.

Call me names as much as you like. The days of being able to shout “far right”
at people for it wanting to experiment on kids is over chum.

That's a gross miss representation and you know it

This isn't Transreddituk mate, you won't find simps upvoting you despite it not being true here.

I wouldn't know; I don't use Reddit and try to avoid social media as much as possible.

You have no idea what you are even saying, do you?

I'm in my fourties. I've been dysphoric since I was able to articulate it as a child. I'm one of the lucky few who got treatment young. It doesn't go away. You don't 'grow out' of something that is a fundamental part of you.

The evidence suggests that in most cases it does in fact go away if you don't pump children full of life shortening drugs which permanently stunt their development.

I think "safe and effective" here is akin to 6 people playing Russian Roulette with a revolver and it can be fine for 5 of them.
