Watched Colleen Rooney in the jungle and now rewatching the wagatha thing on itv2, she just comes across so well, I actually love the background story and wonder even though they have all this money, I wonder if they ever crave those simple days of being 16 before it all kicked off. Just very normal people.
She seems so strong, classy, kind, just a morally good person really.

And I think RV was heavily pregnant when Colleen told the media what had happened. I know RV was in the wrong doing what she did, but it was really shitty of Colleen to suddenly put a heavily pregnant woman through all that stress

Maybe women who are heavily pregnant shouldn't do shady things and bring lots of stress into their lives through court cases.

TooManyCupsAndMugs · 10/12/2024 09:51

I think she's nice enough but I'm like others - i can't admire someone who has let themselves be treated like shit by their partner over and over again. And they didn't have kids when he started cheating on her. How can any woman let herself be humiliated like that? And a bit hypocritical of MNetters who shout LTB for normal woman who come on here after being treated like that by their partners to make excuses for him/her!

A role model? Someone only famous because of her husband, who she stays with even when he's cheated on her repeatedly with prostitutes? There are far better role models for girls.

I think she’s a role model in terms of dedication to her family, she seems to be a nice person despite her wealth, she’s a good mum of boys, she’s relatable to women (who post every day here) who have to fight to regain their independence after devoting 20 years to their family. She’s a lovely advocate for normalising the experience of kids with additional needs (her sister).

I mean yeah he’s fucked up in extremely public ways, but to me that doesn’t necessarily take away from her, that she stayed. That’s not the part I’d celebrate but you know, life is complicated and not one dimensional.

Isn't she "just" a normal woman who has a lot of kids, enough to stay home with them and a devoted mum. She has a good insight into her husband's weaknesses and still loves him. I think she's religious too?

I think she seems lovely. And bright. I think she is a role model.

No wonder she wanted to do something for herself.

I find it extraordinary that she is still with Wayne. The multiple sex workers (and these are just the ones he’s been caught with), the drink driving and drunk and disorderly charges. She talks about him as if he were a child. I don’t know how she isn’t repulsed by him. He was like this before they got married so I guess she knew what she was getting into. I certainly don’t blame her for his behaviour but I find it completely mystifying that she stays with him.

The mansion is big enough to have space between them and doesn’t he work in another part of the country now?

SchoolDilemma17 · 10/12/2024 08:20

ExtraOnions · 09/12/2024 21:47

She did talk about this in the jungle … yep he cheated on her with sex workers, it was 20 years ago, they worked through it, and are happily married with 4 children.

She chose to forgive him, it doesn’t make her pathetic or weak.

There has been another scandal since and that was only a few years ago? He spent the night with someone else or something after being too drunk?

she is staying with him for the lifestyle no question about that. Lots of people do.

HardlyLikely · 10/12/2024 08:17

MyPithyPoster · 10/12/2024 06:53

They didn’t have four children together at the time when it happened. I don’t think they even had one if I remember correctly.
The truth of the matter is they all do it. Jack Grealish made a complete twat of himself and has gone on to marry his childhood sweetheart and have a baby. Which I believe the football clubs encourage and she would’ve been told in no uncertain terms that the divorce would not be good for His footballing career

Edited

She wouldn’t have been told anything of the kind! It’s not the Hollywood studio system of the 1940s! Absolutely, players are still encouraged to marry young to ‘settle them down’, but clubs don’t intervene in people’s marriages.

I understood Colleen was dating her dh since early teens and before he was im famous.
How anyone can accept his behaviour is beyond me. I wouldn't trust her as far as I'd throw her.

Wayne was put through some of the best clubs in Liverpool before being signed to Everton then Manchester united in his mid-late Teens

I think Coleen's lovely but the whole narrative of being with him before he was famous/successful & that he would never find anybody like her if she leaves has probably led to alot of their problems over the years with him buggering off & then trying to make it work with her

Wayne didn't just show up at 18+ with a bit of football talent then get bounced to the top he was on the bloody national team performing in foreign country's at 17 years old

He bought her a lifestyle that enabled her to pick & choose her career while staying at home with her family well into adulthood that's worth more then any financial sum she could have made by divorce or seperation but it's not apart of the love story really

@HRTQueen They’ve been together since they were 16, 4 kids together, life isn’t that simple. It’s not excusable at all, but he was drunk, young from a working class background with all this money and girls probably being thrown at him. I wouldn’t have been able to forgive, but the issue of four kids together etc…it must have been hard.

Can’t see what there is to admire

sticks by her multi millionaire partner now husband who cheats again and again and with sex workers

no achievements to her name only connected to his

yeah great role model

Absolutely everyone in the whole world ‘loves their children to bits’ I always find it really odd when anyone proudly or defensively says this as if it makes them a good person. It is bog standard, starting point normal.

CandidHedgehog · 10/12/2024 06:01

She doesn’t just donate to charity, she (and Wayne to be fair) do a lot of behind the scenes work at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Notably, she’s never been ‘accidentally’ (/s) caught by the paps doing so - it’s genuinely private not celebrity ‘no, no, I don’t want any credit but the paps (that I called) have forced me to make a statement taking credit for my charity work’ private.

GroovyChick87 · 10/12/2024 05:55

I really liked her. I wasn't expecting to but I was wrong. She seemed a good, genuine person, a great wife and mum.

Zanatdy · 10/12/2024 05:49

I liked her a lot in I’m a celeb. Seems true to herself and her upbringing despite the wealth she now has through Wayne’s achievements. I like her as she seems a very normal mum, always in the car driving kids around. Sounds like a few of them are in football academies and i’m sure she spends most of her time doing stuff for the kids. When she said the kids have always been proud of their dad and now she wants them to be proud of her - well that was a ‘I’m not crying, you are’ moment.

the80sweregreat · 10/12/2024 05:29

She was great in the jungle
Seems very nice

Mem1 · 10/12/2024 05:28

She was already rumoured to be going on ima celeb. During the all the leaks Vardy sold to SUN so it obviously got postponed while she dealt with that then ended up being sued & before that her youngest child would have been too young to leave id imagine

As for why she did it - lots of people famous or not would love to get on particular reality shows & she was just in a position to make it happen

I agree she's fab & I would love to see more of her but I assume she would have done it earlier had the kids been older & the wagather situation hadn't unfolded the way it did.

Mentionedindespatches · 10/12/2024 02:54

My friend's sister in law is a friend of Colleen's. My sum total of celeb gossip is 'she's really nice.' You're welcome Grin

I don't really follow any telly/celeb stuff, but whenever I see photos of Colleen, I usually think that she's got really good skin!

QueenCamilla · 10/12/2024 02:31

Thedogscollar · 09/12/2024 23:54

What a sweeping statement. You literally do not know her, only what you've heard in the newspaper and the recent tv show if you watched it.

How people can come on here and make such judgements is laughable. No doubt you all have fantastically outgoing personalities have many passions and aspirations and the rest of us are like Coleen.
I know which I'd prefer.

Yes, I watched an entertainment show on TV but wasn't entertained by Colleen at all. So no praise from me, sorry about that @Thedogscollar
TBF, the show was a bore-fest generally this year - this is just a special mention to Colleen and her contribution.

And yes, I do have aspirations, passions and a talent that I have had success with. That doesn't stop me being friendly and nice to people and also doesn't make me special (I shoulda' married a footie player for that).

If the role model standard for women is an empty skin filled with "agreeable" and "nice" then have Colleen all to yourself. #blessed #inspirational

Zoflorabore · 10/12/2024 02:03

i went to the same high school as Coleen but I’m a few years older than her. I’ve never heard a bad word about her to be honest and although Liverpool is a pretty big place it sometimes feels small when it comes to everyone knowing everything, Wayne definitely has had tongues wagging but not his wife.

She’s more than capable of looking after her kids if she wanted to divorce Wayne, she’s got family support, money etc so she must really love him to not give up on her marriage. I know I couldn’t forgive what she has but that’s what sets us apart I suppose.

someon · 10/12/2024 01:58

She seemed pretty dull to me. Really ordinary. Better that than an arsehole like Vardy seems to be but I don't really get the gushing about her.

I don't dislike her but i didn't understand how or why she was actually in the top 3!

I thought she was pretty dull i didn't think she actually said much she seemed to just do a-lot of observing I'm the same to i don't get all the gushing either

Lampzade · 10/12/2024 01:35

SpidersAreShitheads · 10/12/2024 00:09

I think it’s because she’s a refreshing change to many modern celebrities. She’s the kind of woman you can imagine being friends with. She’s genuinely kind and down to earth, and isn’t fake. She’s clearly intelligent - shown by the way she suspected and outed RV, and then again in sussing out the other camp!

Wayne did cheat on her and then I think later there was some further dubious behaviour which didn’t go as far as proven cheating again but were just a bit iffy for a married man.

But she loves him and believes that he loves her, and she doesn’t believe in divorce because of her religion. Lots of women wouldn’t have made the same decision but it’s a bit shit to judge someone who’s opted to stay in a marriage which is otherwise happy, especially when there’s 4 kids.

She seems like a devoted mum, and isn’t someone who is constantly showing off to the paparazzi. She’s known real grief - she lost her sister at a young age age and she supports/donates to charities for the same condition her sister had.

I also think she’s possibly underrated. She may be quiet and a bit shy but I don’t think she takes any shit. Again, the way she conducted herself with the RV nonsense and her resilience against a bag of bullshit and lies from trash bag Vardy showed she won’t be cowed. And even during all of that she kept it classy. RV is off slating Colleen to the gutter press - Colleen just rising above it.

She just seems like one of life’s decent people who’s loyal and easy-going. And I have to say given the absolute state of many in the public eye, those simple facts make her a bloody good role model.

I’m not really one to bother much with celebrities usually but I really wish the best for her. There’s not a bad bone in her body.

Agree with all of this

I think she's a very intelligent woman who wants a career. Her kids are growing or grown and she wants to be more than his wife and their mum.

I see this as a launch for a TV career and I say good on her.

I think she would be good at documentaries.
She had an adopted sister who was disabled and died some years ago. So doing something along this line may suit her
I think she came across really well in both the Wagatha documentary and I am a celebrity .
You can tell that she appreciates her life
I think her USP is that she is quite ‘ordinary ‘ in many ways despite her immense wealth.
She obviously didn’t do IACGMOOH for the money. She just wanted to do something for herself .

.
