To ask if Fairytale of New York is your favourite Christmas song?

It's one of my favourites, but not the favourite. Last Christmas is my favourite.

But my favourite is 'The Power of Love' by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Best lyrics ever 'I'll protect you from The Hooded Claw'...

Nope, it's mawkish shite. And overplayed.

Tbh though I hate most Xmas songs, except Stop The Cavalry by Jona Lewie and Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses.

This year they're all getting on my nerves, but I normally like Mariah Carey's😳

His mural in the town close to where I live & where his funeral was held. He was a regular at the pub in my village, where his parents lived and close to where he spent a lot of his childhood. UBOI for you there.

It's not my favourite favourite but I have wonderful memories of seeing Shane and Kirsty sing it live on the Pogues 1988 tour so it will always be special for me.

It is probably my least favourite Christmas song, or perhaps joint worst with Mariah Carey's All I What for Christmas.

There's something really false about it, a sort of double-bluff sneery pretentiousness - it's a Christmas song - but the singers are calling each other names - but it's still a Christmas song.

It's even worse now they have pandered to people who don't understand British and Irish English by removing the word 'faggot'.

Same, but doesn’t seem to be that much of a favourite for others.

Interestingly I remembered watching years ago on YouTube Chris Martin performing a song called Wedding Bells that I don’t think they ever released and they clearly took inspo from that song for Christmas Lights - so if you like it definitely give Wedding Bells a listen on YouTube.

It’s one of my favourites but top of the pile for me is Kelly Clarkson Underneath the Tree, I just love it.

I like it a lot but it’s not my favourite.

However I’m mildly amused by the pearl-clutchers who changed the lyrics to “you’re cheap and you’re haggard” instead of a bundle of sticks, while thinking “you’re an old slut on junk” is absolutely fine Hmm
