Moustaches are hot! (beards absolutely not!)

I’m not sure if moustaches are having a moment but AIBU to find them really really attractive on men, especially when I detest beards (don’t mind stubble)?

  • Tom selleck/ Sam Elliot (oldies but goodies)
  • Aiden turner on Rivals (even Danny dyer)
  • Pedro pascal
  • My fav- Mike Wozniak the comedian
  • Bob from Bobs Burgers …I know, too far!

I think it signifies competency to me, which I find deeply attractive in a man. If he had his shirt sleeves rolled up, hairy arms, watch, hand on the headrest while reverse parking, all with a lovely tash, I honestly think I’d faint!

Beards, yuk! Find them scruffy and hate the feel of them. The ONLY exception to beards is that dapper bodyguard who works for King Charles.

God no, a full beard or nothing!

And if he’s got his hand on the headrest reversing, I’m judging him - can’t be doing with a man who can’t reverse with his mirrors. :P

TheMildManneredMilitant · 08/12/2024 19:10

It would have been a 'hell no' from me OP and then Aiden Turner in Rivals happened.

TheOtherAgentJohnson · 08/12/2024 19:01

Full beard for me please. Specifically Chris Evans's beard in Avengers Infinity War. And the Chris Evans too, thanks very much.

Peopleinmyphone · 08/12/2024 18:59

Opposite for me, don't mind a little bit of facial hair but just a lone mustache is 🤢

Sunblessed · 08/12/2024 15:51

Yeh, I do think it’s a trend coming back.

I’ve never been a fan of the beard. Hate PoWs new beard. He really doesn’t suit it, looks so scruffy. Just looks scraggly.

I also don’t think he’d suit a Tash. I think you need hair for it to work.

I think Prince William looks good with his stubbly beard! I think it suits him.

I think a lot of them get beards to minimise the look of a double chin don’t they? I see a lot appearing mid forties as waistlines relax!

I’m not sure what the point of a moustache is …

Definitely a thing. DP has just turned 50 and the first place the weight is going is on his cheeks and chin, which is kind of melding into his neck. A beard is fine by me.

A tache on its own would mean a swift farewell.

It’s a fad with all the yunguns near me! So no!… Declan from rivals is fit though!!

I think he looked better as Poldark

Maybe it is generational but moustaches are what my grandfather’s generation (WWI) found fashionable and then wore their whole lives. So I associate them with really old men?

That's so funny I've noticed more and more guys sporting moustaches. When I mentioned to DH he said that it'll be for movember but it is a thing after all! Personally I don't like them, prefer a beard.

LaLaLaLaLolaaa · 08/12/2024 13:15

I LOVE a moustache 🤤 Movember is my favourite month of the year! It makes me sad when everyone shaves them off in December 😂

notprincehamlet · 08/12/2024 12:55

Moustaches are just wrong but I do like Magnus Cort despite the fact that he is attached to one such monstrosity

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 08/12/2024 07:54

Bleurgh. No. I don't like beards ir moustaches, either together or separately. A man might (just about) still be attractive in spite of them, but I just think 'Fgs shave that thing off!'.

DisappearingGirl · 08/12/2024 11:27

I agree it's an age thing. I'm in my 40s and 'taches remind me of 80s dads and 70s porn stars.

I guess all these things go in cycles!

TeabySea · 08/12/2024 11:26

Beard + no moustache = Weird (Ancient US Presidents vibe)
Moustache + no beard = Not working. Will make an exception for Ben Willbond as the Captain.
Moustache + beard = yes. It had to be clean and maintained though. No Catweazel lookalikes
Stubble = bring it on
Clean-shaven = Not my thing generally but as a look, fine.

BestIsWest · 08/12/2024 11:23

I’m so with you OP. But I was in my twenties in the early eighties so peak moustache time. DH had a fantastic one when we met. Still has from time to time though it’s past its prime.
Watching Rivals and Aidan Turner brought it all back. Patrick Grant too.

Newsenmum · 08/12/2024 11:20

Absolutely not

greengreyblue · 08/12/2024 11:18

DH has stubble which I love. He keeps it trimmed. Love hairy chests and and other areas too. Smooth men do nothing for me.

FelixtheAardvark · 08/12/2024 10:30

Years ago I shaved my beard off. DW had never seen me clean shaven. She screamed and refused to go out with me until I grew it back.

Sorry OP the beard stays.

😂😂😂😂

mamajong · 08/12/2024 10:36

Oooh no, a solo moustache for me is a turn off BUT a well groomed beard is a thing for me. It has to be well kept though - straggly/stinky beards 🤮

YANBU I love a moustache! I keep asking my partner to grow one for a while but he hates them! He would look extra handsome with one in my opinion

Look at old pictures of soldiers with moustaches and they look so handsome, or more modern examples of Henry Cavill and Alexander Skarsgard 👌🏻

I know what you mean about British officers from WW1, looking handsome. With the boots too, it’s a double whammy.

The soldier ghost from Ghosts the tv show, he was lovely. Nice Tash.

Henry Cavill is indeed very easy on the eye, but a lot less so with a moustache.
