They may not be Muslims.

Malaysia is a Muslim country.

Europe to is diffrent continent 😂

Haha but you were suggesting that Malaysia is a close safe country to Syria, just a 3000 mile walk (and swim).

Plus, your comments about Muslims makes you sound a bit thick.

Could they get to Turkey? Assuming they are not Kurds they should be safe there

You and your DP need to speak to a lawyer. It’s more likely that your DP will be able to sponsor them than you (assuming you’re not married). Usually refugees are “supposed” to go to the closest safe country, but that doesn’t stop them from having access to any of the other paths to immigration. Good luck to them.

The U.K. doesn’t really have a system like that. You can’t just sponsor a random relative. And I doubt they’d qualify for a tourist visa at the moment. I wouldn’t waste money on a lawyer. If you have money, pay for them to get out to a close safe country who will accept them .

I will advised them to go travel to another safe Muslim country

How did he get to the UK? Could they come the same way?

I don’t know if this is helpful but the Kurds have offered safe refuge to any Syrian. Can they actually get out of their village? I’m sorry for his troubles, he must be extremely worried.

Also good advice

I'm a naturalised British citizen and have lived in the Uk for 20 years. However I can't bring my elderly mother over from my home country permanently (despite her living alone) and me being an only child with a high income. While it upsets me greatly that despite being a British citizen now I can't bring family over, I understand why. There's millions of immigrants like me in the UK and if we all brought our families over, it would be chaos. There's a lot of countries at war, people persecuted everywhere, economic strife and everyone wants to get out but sadly when you migrate you accept people get left behind. It's a cruel reality of immigration and for millennia it's how families have been split up as not everyone can move en masse to one place. It doesn't make it any easier so I'm very sorry for your partner. It's worth checking if they qualify for any exemptions but I know many immigrant families have hit this obstacle without success.

That's really good advice

DrZaraCarmichael · 07/12/2024 21:20

Very unlikely. He would have to be the one applying for them to come here, not you as you are not married. It will depend on his status, income etc etc etc. It is NOT easy.

Agree with others to seek advice from an immigration lawyer.

Are they in a situation where they can escape the village at all? It may not be possible if the village is surrounded? Like already suggested here, you need to speak with an immigration lawyer, or perhaps a charity can point you in the right direction, like the Red Cross. They may know what a good place to start is.

Bushmillsbabe · 07/12/2024 21:16

If you could bring them over, they would have no recourse to public funds, so no benefits, no housing, no healthcare. You would need to prove that you and your partner earn enough to rent them somewhere to live, pay all their bills, pay for their healthcare etc.
Or they could come on a tourist visa for up to 6 months, to see if things settle down at home for them. I know this is unlikely, but just a suggestion.
Do his mum or sisters have any valuable skills, such as being a dr, nurse etc, where they could get a highly skilled visa?
