XL bully shot

Local XL bully shot today. The owner is saying on social media that the dog was harmless but I've seen it go for a a small child before. Why are these dogs 'harmless" until they injure or kill

Shot by whom, OP? Police? What are the circumstances?

A baby was airlifted to intensive care after baby was mauled.
A 76 yr old woman and an 18 yr old are in custody.

How a 76 yr old and a kid could control a brute like that beggars belief.

Thug dogs for irresponsible people.

Sick

"It is shocking. You see and hear about it all the time, but you don't actually think it is going to happen to your own family," she said.

I've heard about the face eating leopards that eat people's faces but I didn't think it would happen to me so I left the face eating leopard cuddling with my baby and now I'm shocked that the leopard ate the baby.

SHE KNOWS THE DOGS ARE DANGEROUS BUT SHE THINKS THE ONE SHE'S GOT IS DIFFERENT 🤬😔🥺

Mrsbloggz · 12/12/2024 12:35

Peas in a pod, she's admitting that she's left her tiny baby cuddled up with a dangerous predatory animal. Too much of a cretin to realize she is incriminating herself.
Where do these barely human pond life people come from 😔🥺.

Another one. An 8 month old baby in a serious condition.

There’s some grim details in the report:

One family member told the BBC the dog, called Hunter, had never shown any form of aggression and it was out of character.

Another family member said the mother of the injured baby was "devastated".

They added the dog and the baby were like "two peas in a pod".

Words escape me…

In order to raise money for what? 🤔

Probably to sue the police for the vast injustice that has been done to her and the emotional trauma caused. Or maybe, if her dog did bite someone, to cover her legal costs.

So sad to hear this again. How many more children have to be seriously injured or killed before we can get rid of all these dogs properly?

Also anyone who thinks their dog isn't capable of turning should never have one. I'm totally aware my dog could turn, hence why I've chosen the breed I have. Why anyone wants a potential killer in their house baffles me. It's ok if it's only the owner that's at risk but its not, it's their children, the public etc that seems to suffer.

Exactly right which is why I have a tiny terrier x chihuahua. Saw my brother attacked by a large ( " don't worry he's friendly") old English sheepdog as a child. The owners were shocked as they usually are. Always wanted to be able to overpower my dog if the worst happens.

There is a foster carer near me who is responsible for two children. He has got a xl bully. He isn't supposed to have it but hides it when authorities are visiting. Wwyd?

Please report him.

I always find it quite strange that I felt more 'relaxed' with my previous, nervous reactive dog around my children than I do our current, 2 year old, soppy, couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag, absolute wimp of a dog.

It's hard to explain, but I think it's just that I'm very aware of how unpredictable animals can be, so even though he's never, ever shown any aggression, it's always in the back of my mind that he could - maybe we just haven't found his trigger yet.

My previous dog liked nothing and no one outside of our family, I knew what would bother her and what wouldn't.

I obviously took the same precautions with both, I think I'm just slightly more 'get out of his face, leave him be' etc etc with current dog.

Both mutts, just not of the XL variety!

That's really interesting. Definitely need to eliminate thus breed then in the UK to protect people. The stupid ones that say they are big softies need protection from their own stupidly

I agree-its very disturbing; I have seen breeders of the dogs showcasing "play fighting"; its bloody terrifying. It is a terrible shame, they really are beautiful looking animals-but in the same way I wouldn't keep a polar bear, a lion or a wolf.

If course it's the breed. It plays a massive part. The owners aren't tearing off arms, ripping up children and killing grown men, the dogs are. Yes bad owners play a part, but when you have an animal that is capable of causing the amount of harm an XL bully can then it's going to end badly. Hence the disproportionate amount of attacks by XL bullies. Anyone who can't acknowledge the breed plays a big part is kidding themselves or just posting to get a rise.

I accidentally viewed the video of the man being mauled by two xls. It was literally a few seconds before i realised and switched it off but I remember how quiet it was and how calm the dogs seemed as they were ripping into him. It was so disturbing.

I remember going round a house where they had this psychotic Yorkshire terrier that took a dislike to me and was constantly trying to get me barking and snarling and snapping at my face. At no point was I in fear for my life, though it was annoying me. I could have easily kicked it away. As it was I stood up and the little twat had to try and get through my docs. Happily take my chances with the Yorkie then an XL bully. I'd bet on there not being the number of fatilities there currently are if the knobhead owners all had yorkies.

And believe me if I lived in a neighbourhood where there were tigers I'd be clutching those pearls tightly. But then I've never been to Texas so who knows.

LuckySantangelo35 · 10/12/2024 19:36

XL bullies shouldn’t be in existence. End of.

JubileeJuice · 10/12/2024 19:32

Dogs aren't cats.

Mrsbloggz · 10/12/2024 19:19

If a dog attacks another animal or dog, it doesn't mean they'll attack a human
In many cases that will be because the animal instinctively knows it cant take down prey of that size.
If your cat was the size of a jaguar it would have you for dinner.

JubileeJuice · 10/12/2024 18:49

Dog aggression and people aggression are completely different. I've had breeds that would kill sheep/cats/small furries if able to. I've had a breed renowned for dog aggression. None would ever have been aggressive towards a human.

If a dog attacks another animal or dog, it doesn't mean they'll attack a human.

Mrsbloggz · 10/12/2024 17:52

@saltysandysea
Thanks for the link, looks as if the landshark in question was warming up with the attack on a dog, and then went for the big prize of killing a human!
I expect Michelle was in awe of her landshark's power & dominance and 100% sure that she as an experienced dog person had it completely under control.

Surely we need a public information campaign to warn people, or something!?

"Emergency services were called to reports of a dog attack inside a property on Foresterhill Road at around 11.15pm on Saturday.
Michelle McLeod was pronounced dead at the scene after being attacked by an American Bulldog, STV News understands."

Bloody killer dogs. Inside a property. Whether it was hers or not hasn't been confirmed

Owner sounds like owner was one of the my dog won’t hurt anyone / fur baby brigade.

Always said it starts small on livestock or other pets than escalates rapidly. Really need a zero tolerance approach to dog attacks now.

Woman killed by dog was charged over earlier attack killed by dog was charged over earlier attack www.bbc.com/news/articles/cd9x2qg9e8vo www.bbc.com/news/articles/cd9x2qg9e8vo

FuckeryOmbudsman · 10/12/2024 15:24

"It's not the breed" thought process doesn't mean that you think the breed is lovely.

It means that the sorts of owners who are attracted to whatever the notorious breed of the day might be, are the sorts of people who will get the next notorious breed. And they'll have exactly the same disregard for breeding (inbreeding, health, temperament), early environment and proper training/socialisation. The sort of people who think that a potentially aggressive dog is a good thing (there are several reasons for that arising from chaotic lives, as well as misplaced well'ard thinking)

And for as long as you have people who want dogs such as these, then there will be a dangerous dog problem. The predictions of a new and worse dangerous dog after the flawed act banning pitbull-type and a few others, they have come true. XL bullies are essentially larger pitbulls with even more crap breeding (that prizes the most dangerous lines). There will be a next breed/type.

Because it's not the breed - any breed can be replaced by another - it's the people who want them.
