we are mid terrace. this was the only treatment that worked for us.

any “expert” powder/spray available online just moved the bugs further away from the bed- so i’d spend nights watching them racing across the walls and ceiling from their hiding places.

we literally never had another bite after heat treatment.

Good luck, OP. Clothes moths are our problem - we cannot get on top of it and it is so depressing.

I have used Cimexa as well and it worked. Got bedbugs when one of my adult children stayed the night in my bedroom after having heat treatment for bedbugs at their flat so thought they were bed bug free.

I don't react to the bites but six weeks later found bedbugs. Used Cimexa as I could not afford to get in the prodessionals. Put Cimexa on the carpet around the bed and on the bedframe and around skirting especially on threshold. Also had traps on the legs of the bed and a mattress protector.

They disappeared pretty quickly and did not move into any other rooms. Been free of bedbugs for nearly a year.

The Bedbug Queen on Facebook has been extremely helpful. She uses steam and Chimexa with great results.

I saw about 20 bedbugs in total.

We had two beds infested, they were on the underside of the mattress on one bed and in the slats of the bed frame on the other. We used a company who used steaming and DE but after two treatments we were still finding them so I used cimexa in the same way they'd used the DE. The company said our infestation level was 'moderate'.

I applied it with a 2" paintbrush VERY sparingly into all the nooks and crannies of the bed frames and the seams of the infested mattress, plus in continuous bands around each bed, just where the sheet tucks in.

I only applied it once, we saw a couple for the first two days then nothing.

I now keep a light dusting down permanently under the beds and inside the frames as a preventative measure. It lasts indefinitely until it's hoovered up or covered in house dust. In 7 years we've only got through half the tub.

Really interested to hear your experience. How you used it, level of infestation, frequency of use?

I'm thinking of using Cimexa and I've also bought a bottle of Crossfire, but will wait until after the exterminators have finished their treatments

Yes, heat treatment in a terraced house is likely to spread them next door. Try cimexa or chinchex if you haven't yet, it's only about £20.

Who did you use for heat treatment? The people I called, were reluctant to treat because of it being a terraced house

i had the exact same feeling. i am not a “gentle” person or too sensitive.

but it was a proper trauma.

HEAT TREATMENT. was the thing that got rid of our really bad infestation (unable to get pros in during covid because of my vulnerable mother)

i messaged them after 6 weeks to say for the first time felt that the bedbugs were in the past. the begbug specialist said he was confident they really were in the past. i emailed them again after a year
saying i still felt so lucky that they had treated us. i feel calmer knowing i have an instant (if costly) solution is it were to ever happen again

i still never put my belongings on a hotel bed.

i put laundry on hotel trips in a zip up bag.

but i feel safe at home.

Sorry to make this thread my trauma dump, but I'm literally at my wits end.

Seeing them every night is horrible. 3 treatments in as many months, each time I'm hopeful that'll be the end of it. I literally do not know what else to do except to leave my home and burn all my belongings.

Had the Bedbugsexpert guy come in on Weds (Gareth I think his name was), and, he did the 3 rooms in an hour, which was surprisingly quick. He said the activity was low, and hopefully he's got the last of them.

We got professionals in - Bedbugs UK - who used a combination of steaming and diatomaceous earth, which dealt with the bulk of the infestation. Then we used cimexa ourselves to finish the job.

I learnt a lot from the woman who came out to treat our house but I'm not convinced we would ever have eradicated them relying on just their treatments.

Did you get rid of yours using Cimexa yourself? Or got the professionals in?

skip the sprays. go straight to heat.

they can hide in a plaster wall without nourishment (our blood) for two years.

I was interested in this because we got rid of ours with Cimexa but it can be difficult to get hold of in the UK. There's a report on the website comparing the two. They're basically the same kind of stuff and have very similar efficacy:

Massive sympathy for anyone dealing with these little fuckers They really mess with your head. We had them in 2019 and it took about 6 months to completely get rid of them. We have only just dared to move the bed back against the wall after 7 years.

I promise im not - we used a couple of other firms first including paying for heat treatment which didn’t work at all and wrecked my favourite bookcase 😫

we called him in desperation and he did clear it but it took him 3 treatments of the whole house

Hi, it was in one room. I couldn’t sleep in there any more. Interestingly it took us ages to decide to get treatment because my partner wasn’t reacting to the bites.

As a pest controller myself, I cannot comment on previous treatments, but here is some information that may be helpful.

I think its too early to say its definitely coming from the neighbours. To be bitten so close to when you have recently had a treatment done, It will take the bed bugs time to migrate again ( unless your neighbour house has some extreme infestation ). So if your property has been properly treated I would expect months of no activity before returning, this obviously can vary as I don't know the property and what's been done.

When you are spraying for bed bugs it is normal to take between 3-5 visits to get rid of the problem as you are relying on them coming into contact with insecticides and you also have issues in some parts of London with resistance to chemicals, which makes them not effective. Which is why heat treatments are different because it penetrates all cracks and crevices.

If you are looking at a good DIY product try https://chinchex.co.uk/ . Make sure to watch the tutorial videos on how to use it, but when used correctly is highly effective. Focus on headboards, bed frames, mattress seems, skirting, sofas and upholstered chairs etc..

If you are looking to use a professional, I would always get a warranty, whats included and look at a heat specialist, such as ThermoPest to undertake it.

Unfortunately bed bugs are probably the hardest pest to get rid of and often require additional visits.
