To plan on getting quite drunk at my work Christmas party?

I’m started working as a nurse about 4 months ago. Next week is my teams work night out. Our ward is split into 4 teams and mines is definitely filled with the youngest people. Our band 6 really likes a drink and is quite a crazy lady I think and people really like her for it.
This is my first big girl job so I’ve never had a professional staff Christmas party before. Do people actually get super drunk or will I be embarrassing myself just by getting drunk?

No way. Photos and videos of you will be circulated. You'll make a fool of yourself and people will talk about you. It's time to grow up.

Have you been living under a rock k whilst doing your nurse training?

I just don’t believe half the threads on here any more.

Don't get drunk. People will enjoy looking and laughing at you, but not in a good way.

Justcallmebebes · 05/12/2024 10:15

No, don't do it. There's nothing worse than being reminded throughout the year, by people you can't avoid, that you made a complete holy show of yourself at the Christmas do

In my experience, nurses like to party. My best friend is a nurse and especially during her training, it was carnage.

But, you've just started a job and are early in your career so I'd take it steady and not go crazy on the first do you attend.

Can you handle your booze? Do you make a twat of yourself?

Yeah don’t do it. There’s always someone who overdoes it at the Christmas party and ends up making a fool of themselves!

Never ever get drunk at a Christmas party. It does not matter if your colleagues get drunk or not do not get drunk particularly when you are so new. Not worth it.

Qualified nurse? You need to be setting an example. Just because the Band 6 likes a drink and is 'crazy' does not mean she is necessarily popular (despite appearances) and is definitely an unprofessional way to act.
I would not be getting drunk in front of colleagues, particularly after 4 months. Trust me, I learnt the hard way!
