To ask about 56 year old men?

Just that really.

What kind of things do they like in general? Have they got good stamina ? I suppose it depends how they live their lives. Would love some feedback on things like -

kind of things they’d like to receive for birthdays /Xmas

music they like?

in case someone’s asking - I’ve got a little crush 🤣

He seems in 20s still - lean, good looking

What has that got to do with anything? You sound surprised that he doesn't act like an old man. 56 years old shouldn't sound old to a 30-something-year-old. You aren't a child. I'm starting to think PPs are right and you have some daddy issues.

Why would you buy him a child’s gift? I’m sorry, @Jumell , but you sound more and more juvenile with each post. Do you have much relationship experience? I’m still not clear about why you’re thinking of trying to start a relationship with a man who is more than 20 years older than you unless you are seeking a father figure - and that isn’t a healthy start to a relationship as partners. And I see you were cagey about answering the question about whether he is single - your reply ‘not married’ concerns me a bit. If he is in another relationship then leave him alone, please!

To be fair a lot of adults do love the Smash Hits annuals - they’ve brought one or 2 out - they’re excellent

I agree wholeheartedly with you about leaving people alone who are already in relationships

I think you're yanking our chain.

But if not, I think you should leave this poor bloke alone. He's not some mysterious species from another planet. It's quite tedious to have someone make a big deal about your age.

OK guys - I’ve decided

im going to buy him some 2025 annuals - a football and a Smash Hits annual

Surely ALL 1968 born individuals just LOVE a good annual ? (After they’ve finished tinkering with their Morris Minors - not a euphemism )

or would Smash Hits annuals by now have become lost in the annuals of time ?

i mean annuals are so GEN X they’re practically taping the Top 40 as we speak ! 🤣

In my case running, Lego and computer games. His stamina is pretty good over 10k but the half marathon was a bit of a stretch. For Xmas he wants Lego, vegan chocolate and a watch. He is tea-total and listens to rock music.

Edited

I’ve only ever done 10k!!

My partner had a young girl, probably around 22, wanting to go out with him when he was newly divorced. He was about 52 at the time.

He said she was very hot, and it was obviously flattering and tempting. However, it's when he tried talking about era's, music, books, experiences, emotions...it all became very clear that it wouldn't work out.

Added to that, even though he looks like he's in his early 40s, there would be such an obvious age difference, everyone would always assume he was with his daughter.

In the end she wanted to go clubbing, and he politely went home.

I'm not sure whether they actually had s** and tbh I didn't want to know. All I know is that he said it didn't feel right at all and he just didn't ever want to be thought of as a sugar daddy.

Please be careful with this. Crushes are great, but sometimes they're best left to be fantasies. Xx

PS. He likes books, live music, fine red wine, proper coffee, travel and cooking. (Gourmet and delicious!) Plenty of stamina. Cycles to work everyday (5miles each way) and we have s** a few times a week. (more often on holidays) He is 58 and had a triple heart bypass this year!

Your partner’s doing well by the sound of it !

Agree that sometimes crushes are best left to fantasies. Tbh I don’t want to disrupt his current life so won’t encroach on it

also believe that it’s good to have a shared cultural reference with someone music etc

I’m British and had a German friend the same age with a British boyfriend. Even though I was the same age as both of them - I had more to talk about with the Brit boyfriend than my German friend as same nationality - identitcal cultural references if same age! So age and nationality play into it definitely!

You might have more success if you ask him rather than a load of anonymous randoms on MN.

Bizarre thread of the day goes to....

DragonGypsyDoris · 07/12/2024 07:04

They're definitely all the same at that age. Exactly like 46 year old men, but 10 years older. No scope for individuality at all. They're like clones.🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

My DH is 53 (and a little bit younger than me). He likes cricket, rugby union, snooker and F1. He’s a hunting/fishing/shooting type, loves a good musical, rock and heavy metal. He likes to cook, loves to eat game and fish and drinks red wine, real ale, good whisky and the odd G&T. He also has a very eclectic taste in books and films. Oh and he loves really good coffee (grinds his own beans oooer). He is the total polar opposite to me (and his two brothers). Hope this helps a bit 🤣🤣

Impressed by the grinding own beans !!
