Husband picks his nose and eats it

My husband works away and a few months ago on FaceTime, he was ‘discreetly’ picking his nose and it looked like he was eating it. I called him out and he kinda just laughed. Honestly, I was horrified. Then on other calls, he tried to hide his lower face but he didn’t put the camera low enough down and he whipped the bogey from nose to mouth so I know he is doing it. I feel like, why would you choose to do that right now? On our call? He’s done it a few times now and I just call him out every time. He doesn’t really say much when I call him out- just gets a bit embarrassed. We’ve been together over 20 years but I see him differently now. Maybe it’s small to some people but this has completely disgusted me. The thought of kissing him repulses me. I wouldn’t say I’m head over heels in love with him or anything but I quite like his company for the most part and we have a pretty good sex life but this has changed things. I’m so grossed out. Am I being unreasonable? Is it over?

This is truly disgusting. I’ll admit, I’ve picked my nose (although not very often as I’m already a compulsive hand washer). If I’ve ever cut my finger and caused a bleed, I’ve stuck my finger into my mouth and I sometimes bite the skin around my nails, but I spit it out at a fairly high velocity.

But eating scabs? Eating boogies? Eating ear wax? Eye crusts? BLISTER JUICE???? I am praying people are just trolling, this can’t be real.

I just thank the Lord that my husband does none of those things. Nope, I simply don’t believe it.

I do this when in the car (only at night time when it is dark obviously!)

We have ALL done it but of course nobody will ever admit to it.

Curtainqueen · 05/12/2024 18:30

How has it taken 20 years of marriage before you noticed this?

CantBelieveNaive · 05/12/2024 18:28

I dumped someone for this once! Honestly disgusting 🤢 and could never forgive as there's no way I could kiss or eat someone's bogie! Oh god no!!

Coatsoff42 · 03/12/2024 23:00

Is it worse to eat your own bogies or swallow someone else’s sperm?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

MaltipooMama · 04/12/2024 16:17

Eating it 😫 I would be horrified by this, I genuinely thought only toddlers did this?!

SwordToFlamethrower · 04/12/2024 16:01

This is a thing that is so gross to me, that it would be a deal breaker.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 04/12/2024 16:01

I'm waiting for @FedupMum2024 to concede it's only her and like one other person on here that does it.
Don't tar us with your bogey eating brush.

LoveSandbanks · 04/12/2024 13:32

Nope, we all pick our nose but eating it is a whole other level. I’d really struggle to get past that. How the hell do you kiss someone that eats their own boogers. Apart from the fact that it’s utterly gross, it also makes me think of 7 year olds.

My 3 year old wouldn't even eat it. 🤮

This thread just reminded me of my dad, last time he came here he sat in the chair picking skin/scabs/something off his head around his hairline and EATING it, I nearly puked just watching😡

OldTinHat · 04/12/2024 12:54

Pick your nose, yep, we've all done it.

Eaten it??? NOOOOOOO!

I ditched a boyfriend of a couple of years when he said he picked his nose and let my dog eat his bogeys.

Disgusting.

Catpowerr · 04/12/2024 12:52

I know someone who will pick a spot and then lick off of their finger what came out. But apparently there are limits, it has to be still ‘fresh’, not hard. I feel like puking just recounting this. Sorry everyone…

I have started working with someone who picks at the inside of their ear, then eats it - never seen this before. Massively grossed me out to the point I had to leave the room to heave and even after work when I thought about it I kept heaving

I could not work with them I'd be heaving. You need to give them the look 👀

Apparently its an evolutionary thing, your stomach acid deactivates any bacteria or viruses trapped in it but your immune system recognises them and mounts a defence, so bogey eaters will have a stronger immune system than non-eaters😃 I read this somewhere, as even gorillas and chimps do this too

I've read this as well. And I swear it's true. I'm never ill. Despite being surrounded by bugs at work.

FedupMum2024 · 04/12/2024 00:01

I also-
Eat my finger and toe nail clippings.
Dead skin from around my fingers (I am a nail biter)
Scabs (always spit any hairs out though)
The crunchy yellow sleep from my eyes

I also drink the fluid from a blister (sweet and salty all at once) and sometimes eat the stuff from my blackheads.

I also like to rub my nose and chin and sniff my fingers (there is a strange but oddly satisfying cheesy smell that I get from those areas only)

Yes I am extremely gross. No I would never admit any of this in real life 😅

Oh my fucking god. I’m glad I haven’t had anything to eat!

WHY! The nails?! I mean I have never been a nail biter but I’ve had the occasional had to bite off (and bin!) a broken finger nail when I’ve had no scissors on me but they are hard! How can you eat them! And toenails?! wtf? Do you wash your feet first? Gross.

This has made me feel physically sick. Blisters?! Jesus. I usually only get them on my foot. Do you stick your feet in your mouth?! Blackheads 🤮

cheesy nose and chin?! I mean wtf! Do you not wash your face?

Have you ever tried not doing these things PP and just being less disgusting 😂🤮🤢

But how frustrating that they then have no mechanism for passing on those superior physiological advantages to the next generation - as nobody with whom they might be able to reproduce will go near them once they see/learn that they eat their own bogeys!!

There's a reason why Dick & Dom - and countless children and students along with them - used to shout "Bogeys!" (or is the plural bogies?!) In theatres and libraries, and not "Carrots!" or "Pasta!".

This is because bogeys carry an inherent, well-understood grossness, which some people thus find hilarious, which is absolutely not present in actual tasty and nourishing foodstuffs.

I had to come back to this thread a couple of times as page 1 made my stomach heave. Anyway I got through it to find someone has a cheesy smell from their nose and chin? WTF? Does she not wash. How can your chin smell cheesy. Leaving the thread now as I don't want to know.

Eating bogies is NOT normal. And, no, not everyone does it otherwise we'd have seen partners, kids, family members do it. Stomach heaving again - got to go.

👏👏

I can't wrap my head around behaviour admitted to on this thread. Disgusting.

It's bizarre, isn't it? A curious little child I'd understand - as tiny ones instknctively stick everything they get their hands on straight into their mouths.

But an adult picking something slimy, crusty and/or sticky from their noses and their first thought being to eat it?!

To be honest, I'd find it far less weird if somebody admitted to enjoying eating grass or leaves - as these are much more closely related to actual human food - but nobody ever seems to do that... but bogeys, why?!?!?!

See OP. The above replies all prove my point 😂 Nobody will ever admit to it!

Yes I get thst it's gross and this is s

I'm not ashamed to admit to being a bit gross sometimes and I have 3 small kids so I'm not in the least bit squeamish. But genuinely, the thought of picking and eating a bogey just made me wretch a bit.

I feel the same way about those baby snot suckers Envy
