Is this a reasonable response to the Darlington Nurses issue? (males in female changing spaces)

Wes Streeting requested the Darlington Nurses drafter the guidance.

That isn't proof. You may think someone is a male/female just by looking at them but that is just your opinion. Like the people who confront my friend. Their "nearly 100% accuracy" was wrong 100% of the time.

The social contract that males stayed out has worked through the ages. We can very easily reinstate it.

Bollocks we can. That cork is well and truly out of the bottle now. Men who believe themselves to be women are going to keep on using the female places because that is where they believe they belong.

Your last para basically is the point of this thread though.
The discussion re womens rights to single sex spaces is ongoing

We believe we have a right to single sex spaces and we will keep fighting for that to make sure all men keep out

Would you be OK with with Trans men using women spaces, I mean really masculine trans men, who look like men.

Personally I would be okay with women however they identify using women's spaces

Yes. Because they are female. Quite a few have answered this on this thread.

I've done my research, I continue to do it and I follow a number of people with DSDs on X. You are going against everything the community has a clear consensus on and you are pushing a term that is misleading. There is no third sex. If you tell us the DSD you claim to have, we will know what sex that corresponds to. Everyone with a DSD is male or female and that's why the term intersex is rejected: because it is untrue and misleading and insulting.

I've done my research and anyone else who does theirs will find that what I'm saying is true. If anyone doesn't wish to research, they could just ask themselves what's more likely: that there is a third sex, which would necessitate a third gamete that has not been found in 1.2 billion years, and would justify the term intersex AND that the anonymous person with a TRA agenda on Mumsnet does indeed have a DSD (rare enough itself) and goes against all the consensus of the DSD community to push that agenda by spreading misinformation...

...or not?

Edited

I mean, if you know people on X then it must be true.
Not all people can be thrown in one band wagon so to speak. I do know of people within the community who do prefer DSD (generally the older community in my experience) and myself and others prefer intersex. You’re right it’s not cut and dry although, myself and others do not feel that the term intersex is misleading as to imply a third sex - it’s a spectrum of DSD which intersex covers.
I’ve told you than I am and you are welcome to not believe me and therefore discount my voice and opinions such is typical. No I am not disclosing my personal information, that’s a silly thing to ask me to do although I do suggest you research local meetings of intersex people to get to know first hand how complex it is and how different people prefer to identify.
Im still not sure why this is relevant to my inclusive additional spaces approach to the issue at hand.

Are you actually serious?

We can correctly sex a male at a glance with nearly 100% accuracy.

Most trans women are pretty obviously male.

The social contract that males stayed out has worked through the ages. We can very easily reinstate it.

But if it is a unisex area nobody would have reason to question what is in your pants. If that isn't suitable then you are actually expecting something beyond what is reasonable.

A portaloo on wheels maybe

I agree completely, but unless Mumsnet has changed its policy this term is banned, and if someone reports you for using it you will get a warning from MNHQ and your post will be deleted.

I have used Men Claiming Womenhood (MCW) because it works for those men who believe they are the other sex AND those who are doing it to access spaces/resources etc. And to me at least, not clearly unkind to either.

ARealitycheck · 03/12/2024 18:51

nonbinaryfinery · 03/12/2024 18:29

I'm saying men and women make it unsafe for me to use a public bathroom, so I don't and the only way I can see forward is for third spaces that I know we are never going to get.

In what way are you unsafe in unisex facilities?

StandingSideBySide · 03/12/2024 18:50

HollyKnight · 03/12/2024 18:43

You're not getting it. Even if it is made illegal, how can you prove the person entering the bathroom is a male? That would only work if you know the person personally and know for a fact that they are male.

I do appreciate it’s almost impossible to police.
Obviously I do get it

My point is if it’s illegal then women will feel that they can call someone out.
With more police/ security the person then can be arrested and we’ll leave it up to the police to carry out whatever checks are necessary.

I get it’s an almost impossible situation if the trans community don’t have a bit of respect
which given that link by spannasaurus they clearly don’t at the moment.

ARealitycheck · 03/12/2024 18:49

nonbinaryfinery · 03/12/2024 18:27

I used to. I don't wish anyone any ill will. I just wanna use a public bathroom without someone demanding to know what's in my pants, especially if they're using a camera to post it on social media as if they've just cornered a predator. I just want to be able to relieve myself in a safe place but that doesn't exist right now except in my own home.

But if it is a unisex area nobody would have reason to question what is in your pants. If that isn't suitable then you are actually expecting something beyond what is reasonable.

Erm, because people have eyes? And have generally managed tell a male from a female since the beginning of time, despite ‘costume’.

CraggyIslandTouristBoard · 03/12/2024 18:47

Totallymessed · 03/12/2024 18:19

Completely agree. Maybe "transgender identified men" would work. Messing around with language confuses things, and imo, has almost certainly been done deliberately.

@StandingSideBySide Heres a link to the website. Mainly extremely violent threats many of which are descriptions of how they will use their girl dick to rape women

terfisaslur.com/

I haven’t scrolled down that.
Thats truly frightening and utter disgusting
Why hasn’t that been taken down

If it’s made illegal
If we have more police
It can be dealt with

Or just trans people with a little bit of respect for the sexes might work too!

What about transwomen without penises - should they be allowed to use female showers?

Well you can hardly think it appropriate to ask TW to show their genitals, so how on earth could that be policed?

Please do your research and actually chat to the intersex community before speaking for us. DSD is commonly used to refer to diagnosic criteria the term preferred is in fact intersex. Depending on your sources and criteria the percentage sits at about 1.5 to as low as 0.001.
I really don’t know what to tell you, the odds aren’t actually that bad and I am here after all? This erasure is something I’m of course familiar with but I was hoping for more from people who are so staunchly for identifying with their assigned sex.
Just because I believe in equal opportunity and spaces for all doesn’t really have anything to do with my sex.

I don’t do social media ( it’s just MN for me ) so I have no idea how horrible people can be on those sites

HollyKnight · 03/12/2024 18:38

lifeturnsonadime · 03/12/2024 18:34

Ah so basically this is the 'males will just do what they want anyway argument'?

Thank goodness that's not how safeguarding normally works.

When it comes to single sex facilities the decent males stay out so the others stand out.

We can come to our own conclusions about the motives of those who don't adhere to basic decency when it comes to the privacy & safety of female people.

Isn't that the whole issue? Males believing they are entitled to use female spaces because they consider themselves to be women. People who believe themselves to be women are not going to use the men's bathrooms. Saying "no men, women only" doesn't apply to them because they are women and they don't care if anyone disagrees.
