Is this a reasonable response to the Darlington Nurses issue? (males in female changing spaces)

Wes Streeting requested the Darlington Nurses drafter the guidance.

@Helleofabore I think the reason they demand people do not to use the term male is because using it makes it clear how completely ridiculous the situation is. Of course males shouldn't be in women's changing rooms, sports, rape centres, etc. I think it's become necessary to start calling a spade a spade for clear communication because the double speak muddies the waters and results in so many problems including crimes of men being attributed to women.

Helleofabore · 05/12/2024 10:07

Considering how I have personally been, as have others on this forum, abused by a male person who has then told us how transphobic we are (on top of their abuse towards us) for using the term ‘male person’ to describe why they should not expect to access female single sex spaces, I today have very little fucks to give for anyone attempting to shame women using the term ‘male person’ to describe a male person. Particularly when discussing female single sex spaces.

NonPlayerCharacter · 05/12/2024 10:03

What is cruel and disrespectful about acknowledging material biological reality and its implications?

What is cruel and disrespectful about not forcing women to undress in front of men?

Why do you think it is a human right for a man to enter a female changing room?

Why do you think women should undress before men to prove themselves kind and respectful?

The world is not responsible for upholding someone's self image. That's why it's called self-image.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/12/2024 09:26

They're all male @Justfortodayembaressed - guilt tripping won't work. What about the feelings and rights of these nurses to not change in front of a male?

They have us over a barrel really.

We can’t strike - it’s written into law that the police cannot go on strike. Aside from that, diversity/inclusivity is one of the things all police forces are pushing. I think we are all wary of pushing back against things and then finding ourselves the subject of a misconduct investigation. As daft as that seems, it definitely could happen.

Try contacting Fair Cop? Harry Miller's an ex cop who has won a number of cases where the police over reach or mangle the law in the interests of transactivism.

Go to HR over it. Strike. Go to tribunal. The press. You have opens, other than lying down and taking it.

Maybe the title is misleading as well, it should say

"Males not permitted to use Female showers"

Dunno why news papers aren’t leading with this quote TBH

Even if the claim was true (spoiler, it isn't).

It still doesn't justify any of this. It's not a game of bloody Top Trumps.

Protecting one group of people should not come at the expense of the safety of another.

If third spaces are needed, campaign for them. Leave women out of it.

…You filthy bigot….

What we need for an accurate comparison as to whether TW are 'the most vulnerable' would be figures on what percentage of women have been subjected to misogynistic hate crimes with the threshold for a hate crime applied to misogyny as it is for transphobia.

The figures I gave committed by transwomen are only reported sexual crimes where a transwomen was actually charged. (1 for every approx 1000)

The figures I gave for hate crimes were reported hate crimes but are not defined
( although there are legal definitions ) (1 for every approx 7300 men )

The figures identifiy the dangers to women

people with penises

There's a 3 letter word for that, no need for a 3 word phrase.

Hoardasurass · 04/12/2024 20:03

There are specific single sex exemption written into the act that say it is legal to exclude anyone with a grc from certain spaces but they are very limited and there is confusion over whether they are blanket as 1 single assessment for all transwomen wanting to join a women's rape counselling group or if you need an assessment for each individual transwomen thanks to stonewall.
The case is about whether a man with a grc is a woman when it comes to sex in the equality act barring the specific exemptions.

DisappearingGirl · 04/12/2024 19:52

Hoardasurass · 04/12/2024 19:37

That's not correct there are exemptions in the equality act that specifically deals with excluding people with a grc from certain single sex exemptions (which includes toilets, changing rooms and sports) that are not under question in the sc case. The matter in question is whether men with a grc are women under the act outside of the specific limited exemptions

Sadly I'm not sure that's correct, though I wish it was! I think the Equality Act is woolly on this. In fact even the Equalities and Human Rights Commission said in the court case that the Equality Act is unclear and needs to be amended.

The UK Supreme Court is currently deciding whether it is lawful to exclude all males from a space or service as suggested in the Equality Act 2010 ... or whether trans women (biological males) with a Gender Recognition Certificate must legally be treated as female "for all purposes" as suggested in the Gender Recognition Act 2004.

BBC summary of the issues here:
www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/clyvdd671e6o

The judgement is due in Spring 2025. If the Supreme Court decides that males with a GRC are legally female for all purposes, then I don't think good old Wes Streeting would be able to enact this guidance. In fact, it would never again be legally possible to have a space or service only for biological females.

I listened to the entire court case and it was utterly hilarious. Even the barrister for the trans movement struggled to answer questions and constantly declared she couldn’t answer and needed a lunch break to draw up a flow chart. On one day lunch was declared as she needed a stapler.

If FWS don’t win this one there’s no hope for women at all.

How can a single sane person look at those mug shots and still declare TWAW?

Because none of them actually believe it.

It's more like a declaration of their faith.

Yep and that's just the ones who were sent to jail, we all know that most sex offenders never see the inside of a prison
