Biden has pardoned his son because his conviction was a "miscarriage of justice".

Is this the total end of standards and even a pretence at integrity in public life? This is a president, who admittedly like all the others, allowed innocent people to be executed in their joke of a justice system. What a hypocrite.

Nah, if that was true Trump would have nominated Hunter for Attorney General.

(Also, there's no evidence that those accusations against Hunter are true, and they've even been denied by the computer repair shop guy who handed the laptop over to Trump. If the allegations were true, then they'd still likely be prosecuable at state level, pardon only cover Federal crimes)

Ok. But sniffing kids hairs......very weird and predatory.

It is quite worrisome This is something they would say Trump would do but it is them who do it.

I mean, pardoning a family member is something Trump did. He pardoned Jared Kushner's father, then (just today) appointed him as Ambassador to France.

They are pedophiles if it is true what was on their computers. Sad reality. But with Bidden sniffing kids hair it sounds about right.

The bigger question here is how did the US judiciary become politicised.

Biden is claiming the charge against his sone is politically motivated, Trump is claiming his charges are politically motivated. I know who I believe, but there shouldn't even be a possibility.

It's built in to the system, the American judiciary isn't sufficiently independent.

For example, there's no way Trump would have got away with the classified documents case if it hadn't landed in front of a Trump-loyalist judge that he appointed, who basically refused to follow the law.

I don't think the US system of democracy is robust enough to survive the hyper-partisan climate that's manifested there.

What a surprise that this is about fucking Biden and people are screaming but Trump. It is unbelievable the double standards of the Democrats.

Edited

Do you understand the level of personal pardons Trump gave during his first term were infinitely higher? And the kind of convictions he was pardoning were not on the same level as Hunter Biden's at all?

And you do know it is more than likely that Trump will pardon himself, plus all the January 6 insurrectionists that attempted to overthrow the government? Does this sit well with you?

ArtfulBee · 03/12/2024 03:45

Agreed with this. Kash Patel is determined to prosecute Hunter Biden and other high-profile Democrat (and some Republican) marks. Trump has given him the keys to do so.

I certainly have objections to this pardon, but that is relevant context.

Haven't had time to read the whole thread, but this article shows why he did it.

It's a direct response to the Mango Mussolini's appointment of Kash Patel.

TheHardestWalk · 02/12/2024 23:30

It’s both - it covers both a period of time January 1 2014 - December 1 2024 and ‘for any offences he has committed or may have committed or taken part in … including but not limited to all offences charged or prosecuted (including any that have resulted in convictions)’

If Biden hadn’t in the strongest terms denied he would do this it wouldn’t be so hard to square. If he had pushed the question out rather than definitively denying it, it would be easier on Democrats. He let other Democrats hang their hat on his denial and by pulling the rug out on 6 months of messaging he has left them utterly vulnerable to attack. He also explicitly attacked the Dept of Justice in the pardon which completely undercuts all their criticism of Trump for saying the Dept of Justice is politicised.

The sweeping and broad nature of the pardon
is eye raising. Hunter Biden‘s sentencing on the gun charge (a felony) and the separate tax evasion charge was due later this month which is why the pardon was issued now - it will be interesting to see if Biden pardons anyone else - ie his brother.

It’s hard to see how the 2014 start date isn’t tied to Hunter Biden joined the board of Burisma in 2014.

Wow

So many posters on first name terms with the son of the US President

Also. Good job Trump has such rejuvenative powers that he hasn't a mark on him from then"attempted assassination"

No, but the poor bugger standing behind him wasn't so lucky, was he?

RIP Corey Comperatore

Also, David Dutch, poor man suffered damage to his liver and broken ribs. Not such good rejuvenate powers there.

The other side attempted to assassinate their opposing presidential candidate.

Do you honestly believe that one registered Republican voter represents the entire Democratic voter base?

How can he trust his son will be safe in prison when someone as blatantly corrupt as Trump is in power?

As opposed to women the Dems have now locked up with male rapists?

Savemydrink · 02/12/2024 21:17

FrostyTheSnowHuman · 02/12/2024 07:10

I am “on the left” but I find the hypocrisy sickening too.

How can he trust his son will be safe in prison when someone as blatantly corrupt as Trump is in power? He clearly has no other option but to carry out an act of blatant corruption himself! But but but it’s okay because he’s a goodie and Trump’s a baddie.

Phew. Justice prevails.

Oh I see, but it's ok for the Dems to send President Trump to jail for years. Do you think he would be safe in there? They couldn't even keep him safe on the stage in front of the world's media and thousands of people!!!!! Do you remember that? you know, when he was actually shot in the face.

Oh, but poor little Hunter, the one who did commit actual crime, gets pardoned by his own dad. You couldn't make this up, seriously.

Thank God Trump won that election, now maybe we will see some sensible people in charge, because the current lot are not just incompetent, they are dangerously corrupt.

And yet Biden has pardoned his son for crimes that have not yet come to light. Why?

So technically if it comes to light Hunter murdered someone three years ago does that mean he’s pardoned for that?

AdventCarols · 02/12/2024 20:14

Hunter was probably too drug-addled during his crime spree to remember its full extent. So can't rely on his recollections. Old Joe's apparent naivety that Hunter was a choir boy before 2014 would bring a tear to a glass eye though.

Weren't all those accusations of wrongdoing based on a whisteblower who was found to be lying (and was duly charged)?

The Republicans and tbe right wing press, who'd been highly focused on the Bidens' supposed improper business dealings, seemed to completely drop the issue once the above came out.
