To think DH did nothing wrong here?

On my way to do the school run in the dark I nearly slammed into a little black car that was broken down just around a blind on our very rural 60 mile an hour road. I noticed a woman alone sitting in the car. I called DH and asked him to go at least put cones around the car but also to offer to the woman for him to stay with her (in his car) or come stand on our drive so she didn't get killed sitting in the car. He went up to her and she politely declined (all fine but he was legitimately afraid for her). He did then drive back around the bend and sat there with his hazards on to slow any cars coming down. Eventually the recovery van came for her and all was well until a few hours later we had the police at the door saying this woman reported DH for having made her feel threatened!? He's now said in the future he just won't even offer help if he's in the same position again. The police were fairly aggressive with wanting to know exactly what he said and did so clearly she was very uncomfortable.

With your knowledge of safe driving practice dahling, I hope you don't drive at all.

I am relieved to at least know that you are in a different country! 😂

The issue is not the driving or the incident.the issue is the strange man interference and making her feel she needed the police.

I am a very safe driver thanks
The woman may have been in shock. But man with sense is going to offer a car share!

Sorry. I only do English not text speak. You appear rather aggressive in your posts? Why is someone holding a different opinion such a threat to you?

And "hun" is English? News to me 😂

Really but the police decided it needed a review, it ain't my head that needs a wobble,

Again, we don’t know what the woman told the police. For all we know, she could have accused him of touching or propositioning her. So, they would be right to investigate, even though they had been lied to and there was no case to answer.

I am in a different country sweetie but I wouldn't be getting into any car with a strange man

She wouldn’t be shocked for long if someone ploughed into the back of her and killed her. Fortunately this man’s actions prevented such a thing happening, yet somehow he’s in the wrong? You need to give your head a wobble.

So she was probably in shock and had to add in weighting up her safety with a strange man!

...gets out the tiniest violin...

adriftinadenofvipers · 30/11/2024 01:47

Personally I'd have been more afraid of being broken down on a bend on a country road in the dark, but you do you.

(how many posts is that now?! pml!)

I disagree with every single one of your posts.

So? The police obviously didn't if they warranted a visit!

adriftinadenofvipers · 30/11/2024 01:47

Marblesbackagain · 30/11/2024 01:42

No, I don't agree he could have rang the police let them know and retreat.

She just have been very scared to have rang them and then waiting with him behind her

Topsyturvy78 · 30/11/2024 01:45

It's well known if you are in that situation you need to get out the car and wait at the side of the road. My sister broke down late at night once. Luckily for her the car rolled and she managed to pull into a layby in front of a food trailer. She did have the sense to put her hazard lights on.

Marblesbackagain · 30/11/2024 01:45

MemorableTrenchcoat · 30/11/2024 01:44

The police are very stretched these days, and it was a rural location, so they may have taken some time to respond. A collision could happen in moments.

I disagree with his offer to share a car and inflict fear.

He didn’t offer to share a car. Can you really not grasp this simple fact?

Marblesbackagain · 30/11/2024 01:39

Well I disagree and obviously the police did as they made a visit!

Making a visit means nothing.

In fact it's surprising that they even bothered their arses.

Marblesbackagain · 30/11/2024 01:44

MemorableTrenchcoat · 30/11/2024 01:42

You disagree with what, that his common-sense behaviour may have prevented a collision, or that a collision, which may have injured or killed people, was preferable to him hanging around? We don’t know what the woman who broke down told the police, she may well have embellished the facts.

I disagree with his offer to share a car and inflict fear.

PixieLaLar · 30/11/2024 01:43

Instead of phoning DH to faff around with cones etc you should have just called the police and informed them of the breakdown creating a dangerous hazard in the road.

I didn't @ you three times it is aggressive.

I'd count your posts too if I CBA which I can't. Hilarious.

Quoting another person's posts is normal. Aggressive, no.
