AIBU to spit on DH toothbrush

I’m ill. In particular, yesterday I was really ill in a way I haven’t been in years - rigors, fever, vomiting and white spotty tonsils.

I’m also pregnant.

It was 2yo DD day off from nursery. We have no family in a 2.5 hour radius. No local friends (moved here recently for DH job).

I begged DH to stay home from work to parent but he declined (not self employed). CBeebies parented our child most of the day.

fast forward to this evening and I ask DH if he can look after DD so I can please shower as I didn’t shower at all yesterday as felt too ill. He’s not helping at all, lying on the sofa watching Facebook videos. Child crying. Im doing housework. He then says I’m “demonstrably fine”.

I have spat on his toothbrush since he thinks this virus is demonstrably fine.

Go to bed or a Premier Inn. Leave him to it.
Why on earth are you having a second child with him ???

mykettle · 28/11/2024 19:23

It's not nice but I get why you were so angry with him. If he doesn't respond to reasonable requests, you'll have to play him at his own game. On Saturday book a premier inn where you can shower and rest for the day. Eat somewhere else and when you come back lay on the sofa. If he doesn't understand words then maybe he'll respond to "demonstrable" actions.

You can't go around trying to make people ill though.

Createausername1970 · 28/11/2024 19:23

I understand your frustration with him, and I would be lying if I said I had never harboured dark thoughts about my DH when he was being spectacularly selfish.

But that's a bit gross.

Go and wash his toothbrush.

Then go back into the lounge, tell him you are not demonstrably well, and you are going to bed. Leave him to it.

Newsenmum · 28/11/2024 19:23

How is making him ill going to help? This isn’t a relationship and this is not helpful for your child.

StormingNorman · 28/11/2024 19:23

You’re disgusting. Learn to control your emotions.

He’s a total shit though.

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 28/11/2024 19:22

He sounds like an absolute prick for sitting around and refusing to parent. Spitting on his toothbrush suggests you basically hate him though (not saying I blame you) and I think the relationship might be dead.

He's being vile, you're being nasty back - seems like a miserable situation.

Nikitaspearlearring · 28/11/2024 19:22

I'm sorry you're feeling so awful. Tell him you're going to bed. Then leave him to it xx

ExitPursuedByAGummyBear · 28/11/2024 19:22

This sounds like a toxic relationship and I really hope that none of this is real.

LoveIsLikeAFartIfYouHaveToPushItsUsuallyShit · 28/11/2024 19:21

While disgusting...

Why the fuck are you tolerating this? This is not just this one time is it.

Scutterbug · 28/11/2024 19:21

Spitting on a toothbrush is grim. I’m hoping you didn’t ACTUALLY do that.

He is being a shit though. I’d just go have a long bath and leave him to look after your daughter.

Cantgetausername87 · 28/11/2024 19:21

Nah you're not being unreasonable. He sounds like a right dick.

Pinkissmart · 28/11/2024 19:20

By the way, I do think he is being a first class asshole, but spitting on someone’s toothbrush to deliberately try and make them ill is awful

ObtuseMoose · 28/11/2024 19:19

That's fucking disgusting, I hope he wipes his arse with yours if he gets the runs.

SabreIsMyFave · 28/11/2024 19:19

Urgh, what a vile thing to do. Confused

YABVVVVU.

Pinkissmart · 28/11/2024 19:18

This cannot be real.
If so, I hope your husband divorces you. Shame
