AIBU to spit on DH toothbrush

I’m ill. In particular, yesterday I was really ill in a way I haven’t been in years - rigors, fever, vomiting and white spotty tonsils.

I’m also pregnant.

It was 2yo DD day off from nursery. We have no family in a 2.5 hour radius. No local friends (moved here recently for DH job).

I begged DH to stay home from work to parent but he declined (not self employed). CBeebies parented our child most of the day.

fast forward to this evening and I ask DH if he can look after DD so I can please shower as I didn’t shower at all yesterday as felt too ill. He’s not helping at all, lying on the sofa watching Facebook videos. Child crying. Im doing housework. He then says I’m “demonstrably fine”.

I have spat on his toothbrush since he thinks this virus is demonstrably fine.

That's fucking disgusting, I hope he wipes his arse with yours if he gets the runs.

This made me laugh out loud 😂

ManhattanPopcorn · 28/11/2024 20:38

You're both awful.

mumzof4x · 28/11/2024 20:38

You have shown lack of respect
Not exactly a role model for your dc either of you

HIV? Oh now, come on. It's just the sickness that she's endured while pregnant, looking after a small child and being ignored by her DH. It's not HIV, is it?

So many people go through far worse everyday. They don't go around spreading illness, disease and infections on purpose because they are angry.

Op is seriously unhinged. Ill and pregnant isn't an excuse.

OrwellianTimes · 28/11/2024 20:35

An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind.

Go to bed, leave him to it. When you’re better get couples therapy. This ain’t working right now.

IceCreamCookies · 28/11/2024 20:34

Yabu but I also think this is hilarious.

Then you need to be getting some help to
manage your feelings. This is not normal, at all. Its juvenile, disgusting and abusive.

Yeah probably

Anywherebuthere · 28/11/2024 20:25

If someone was purposefully spreading HIV there would be an uproar.

You are no better. No matter how much you hate and disrespect someone spitting on someones toothbrush isnt something a normal person does.

You both have so little respect and consideration for each other. Love obviously doesn't exist in your relationship either.

Yes with himself. Op is pregnant so hormones will be raging let's remember this people! What's his excuse ?!

Pregnancy is not an excuse to be a dick.

Nah I would be doing worse than that. Spitting on the toothbrush seems too kind :) :) :)

Yep let's shame the woman for getting to their end of her tether with a lazy, abusive man.

I also said that I think he is being an asshole. She still shouldn’t spit on his toothbrush

Sandcastles24 · 28/11/2024 20:14

This says nothing good about you or your relationship.
Ask for a divorce if you are not absolutely mortified for doing or wanting to do this in the morning.
Being pregnant and ill doesn’t excuse spiteful angry behaviour

standardduck · 28/11/2024 20:12

You both sound delightful.

He should definitely be taking care of children, but spitting on his toothbrush is disgusting.

It doesn't sound like there is any respect between you two.

Don't let your children grow up in that environment.

arethereanyleftatall · 28/11/2024 20:09

So you both hate each others guts? Sounds fun.

You're both treating each other with contempt. It's really hard to come back from all this. Hope you feel better soon op and when you do I think it might be time to re evaluate what you are both getting from this relationship because it's definitely not support, respect or friendship.

Like the four horsemen of marriage? If all 4 are there it's bad news for the future.

Go to bed OP, no more housework until you're feeling better. Let him fend for himself.

sprigatito · 28/11/2024 20:01

Yes @Dimpliy , but spitting on his toothbrush while she's infectious will make him ill.

Ah, I see. But sounds like he's not any help when he's well either.

Cryingatthegym · 28/11/2024 20:02

Wash it off in the toilet

Yes, do this!

SwordToFlamethrower · 28/11/2024 20:01

I think this is a very reasonable thing to do!

ChristmasGrinch24 · 28/11/2024 20:01

That's grim.

Op you're pregnant and poorly, I get your anger. But you know what men are like when they're ill, you're only Gona give yourself a harder time! Wash it off in the toilet

Edit: Sorry, I get what the poster meant.
