this is a local company and this is their ‘Black Friday’ advert. WTF is it on about?!!! I’d hate to think the worst of them as they do lots of local events but…

Adverts aim to provoke thought to gain attention.

Any publicity is good publicity.

So I guess the aim of this advert was to shock people, to the point where they want to share the advert in perhaps busy forums (free further advertisement) to announce their shock!

Going viral would be even better for them...

BUT... it's based on a VERY niche meme which not many people are going to get, so most people would be rather shocked at it. Unless they've thought this through and figured that people would eventually make the connection?!?

Meh. It's not good taste!

She was at work, I don’t think it’s relevant what the work was. The porn might be linked to her choosing a horrible abusive murdering arsehole as a partner however.

It’s a genuine advert, sadly. And I guess there was no other way to find out what it was about than to ask. I’m very sorry if I’ve upset you.

For anyone unfamiliar with the meme, it is from a porn film (5 guys all have sex with the girl who is sitting on the sofa in the original imaage). It became a meme with people photoshopping different people or things onto the white couch (in this case, the wine).

If you know the manager, I would be tempted to pop in and have a quiet word with them about how it comes across as “a little” racist.

As a normally good community-focussed local business, I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Once. Any inaction on their part and I would boycott the shop and make sure everyone I knew in the area heard about their stupid click-bait stunt.
