Daughter on OE and war

Our family moved to NZ from the UK in 2007 when our children were 8 & 6. Our daughter *25 yrs old) has just gone on her OE with her partner and have ended up in London and are looking for jobs and a flat. I am generally very pragmatic and definitely not a worrier, but for some reason I have recently been having nightmares about WW3 starting and my daughter being caught in the thick of it. I literally cannot stop thinking what would happen if war broke out and she was stuck over there but don't want to worry her by suggesting she comes back to NZ where it is safe. My husband is v dismissive of my fears and says the media are blowing it out of proportion which isn't very helpful! Should I let her know the potential danger she is in or is it not a real concern over there?

There are billions of people living in this hemisphere and, while we have some concerns about geopolitical situation, we are not quite preparing for ww3. And if ww3 does happen, there won't be a safe place on earth.

She's 25!! She can make her own decisions.

Eh?

Were doing just fine in the UK

It is not a real concern.

Putin has fired one missile at Ukraine and he notified the Americans and other western nations in advance.

Overseas experience?! Like a grand tour?! 😂
is this because New Zealand is, not to put too fine a point on it, in the arse end of nowhere so they need a proper Victorian travel scenario to actually see the world?

Hopefully, you are being unreasonable.

Cross post! Thanks! (Although I still don’t understand what it means… a holiday? An adult “gap yah”? What is an overseas experience?!)

GretchenWienersHair · 24/11/2024 08:05

What is OE?

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 24/11/2024 08:05

But no. WW3 is not a genuine concern in the UK
