DH wouldn't dance to our special song

Last night, at a bday party, our special song comes on. We are standing in a group, I look at DH with my most alluring face, say "our special song, let's dance", but he didn't respond. It was humiliating.

Has anyone else ever experienced such rejection and what do you think should do now?

I find 'I've got a brand new combine harvester' quite alluring. Have you seen the price of those things?

Westofeasttoday · 23/11/2024 18:20

Having a ‘special song’ doesn’t make it mandatory to dance to. Your over sentimentality and potentially embarrassing approach and action are the point here not your partwrs reaction. Rejection? Man you have lived a sheltered life.

That was a real anti-climax for me, OP - I've never even heard of that song.

Hitherto, I was trying to think of the most poignant romantic songs that I could and had narrowed it down to only three realistic contenders: Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep, Hev Yew Gotta Loight Boy or The Marrow Song.

DelicateSoundOfEchos · 23/11/2024 18:04

It's fucking annoying when people try to force you to dance and won't just accept no with good grace.

I imagine you were probably being irritating and he's quite entitled to not do something he doesn't want to do.

I am now visualising Bridget Jones for some unknown reason!

I sincerely hope you continued to dance to your special song in front of his friends whilst plastering the alluring come to bed eyes 👀 in his (vague) direction and showing him exactly what he was god damn missing with his hot and definitely not mortifying at all wifey! 😂🤩💃

What on earth do you keep trying to post?
And why, since it keeps failing?
If it's Disco Duck you were successful with your post at 17:09 and, if that's all it was, it's really not amusing enough to keep making all that effort.

Margorett · 23/11/2024 17:40

urgh this is cringe worthy, I actually nearly vomitted

@marmitesarnies

Thanks for being a good sport and mostly everyone for a funny thread!

I second that!

Uricon2 · 23/11/2024 17:30

For all you 60 somethings out there in Mumsnet land Grin

RetroTotty · 23/11/2024 17:29

I don't go anywhere that has dancing now, but intrigued to know if any late middle age blokes get up on the floor and do the spin round and arm- outstretched-point- a- finger thing? Maybe to Motown toons?

AbitofaLad · 23/11/2024 17:28

Who on earth has a special song? To dance to?
A special tune like Bolero, to f*** to yes, that I understand.
I wonder why she left me. . . . ?

If you thought your face was alluring there is a very strong possibility that it was the exact opposite. I am picturing Nadine Dorries style love sick gurning at Boris Johnson

In this instance, the 'thanks' button actually means 🤢!!

OP needs to grow up.

So do a lot of the posters replying to her.

DilemmaDelilah · 23/11/2024 17:18

I've been with my DH since July 2006, married since November 2016, in all that time he has danced with me once! We don't actually have an 'our song', but even if we did he still wouldn't dance with me.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 23/11/2024 17:17

I don't blame him...
