Nikita had such terrible bruising, a paramedic hasn't seen such extensive bruising, she had to have a tampon removed from her cervix, she's had her house/car attacked, mum threatened, intruders broke into her home and tried to stab her bf/ threatening her and her bf he tried to pay her off in 2019 for a million, she said no I want justice.

Conor McGregor wearing a blue shirt, white shirt and black tie. He has light brown short hair and a beard

Woman wins civil rape case against Conor McGregor

A civil action was taken by Nikita Hand who had accused McGregor of raping her in a Dublin hotel in 2018.

Fair enough but this is so embarrassing and so degrading for her that I can only think that either she is scared of him or has some kind of trauma bond with him to stay.

I think that a lot of women, including many in my above post, are actually deluded. Wether it be by love, by abuse or by genuine feelings that their men are innocent, I think a lot are actually a bit mad when it comes to their husbands.
I’ll never forget when Ched Evans was still in jail his girlfriend did a This Morning interview saying “I know he’s innocent” and made the interview ALL about how she forgives him for cheating. She genuinely believed the drivel coming out her mouth

So her only option is to stay and change nothing? To put the children at risk?

And you’re wrong - I grew up with a violent dad, in the 90’s when there were no resources, hardly any charities and it’s tough to get police to believe you. And that was for piss poor women without 3 pennies to rub together - many of whom who STILL managed to leave. These days there’s policy changes, shelters, charities, specialist officers and tonnes of support, accountability and a huge culture shift - it’s not perfect but it’s a damn sight better than what we used have. Maybe I’m projecting as I remember feeling overwhelmed with how little consideration I was given being a child having to live with that, but the thought of going “it’s doomed she has to stay, fuck the 4 little lives involved” is just plain dumb

People are assuming she’s a victim - and we really don’t know - she may also be someone who just wants to stay because of love/money/security. She may not be a scared partner trying to protect her kids - she may well be a shit mother who puts her needs above theirs.

Yeah, me too, except in the eighties, when there was even less support and police wouldn’t come out for ‘domestics’. There are a lot of us on here who know what it is like to stay in a refuge. And if it was difficult enough for our skint but anonymous mothers to leave and hide ourselves, how much harder do you think it would be for a woman who has appeared in every national paper in the UK and whose partner is associated with people who don’t have a great deal of respect for the police? You think she’d be able to hide who she was? That some shitty tabloid couldn’t track her down?

She doesn’t have any money. He does. You think an expensive lawyer couldn’t convince a family court that the kids would be better off living with him in a big posh house and going to private school? Over living with her in a B&B? Or in her paren’t spare bedroom? The same family courts that give abusers unsupervised access to their victims? So does she leave and, ignoring the threats to her, risk her children being left with him? Or does she stay and protect them the best she can?

I think some people on MN need to realise that SOME women are happy to be enablers or naive bystanders as their men mistreat people. That not all are victims and that they choose to be blind to their OHs fault and just blame other women. I’ve know a good few like this, who have no reason to be that way, but choose to be anyway.

The police wouldn’t be open to her? Charities wouldn’t take her call?
bullshit

I don't know that in her shoes I would necessarily trust the police to be able to keep me safe, no.

Perhaps she's happy to stay, perhaps she's abused, perhaps she's adored, perhaps she's terrified, we don't know.

But I'm not convinced there's any moral high ground in slagging off the partner of a man who has violently raped a woman. Let's focus our ire on him.

@EvilsElsasPetSnowman

I'm not sure if "no court would give him the children" The prosecutor in this case suggested that the witnesses had been compromised.

He's a multi millionaire with links to one of the world's biggest crime gangs.

He wouldn't be the easiest man to leave in fairness.

Look at the photographs of them together. The arm over her. It's the "I own you" stance.

Dee has never committed a crime and I don't think we should vilify her here. Does this picture of her entering court look like a women who wants to be here.

No but I wouldn’t expect her to be smiling either.

What do you suggest she should do?

I have to say I’m deeply saddened by the total lack of regard for their children here. The notion they should just tolerate staying living with a dangerous man because “well what else can happen” makes me think caring and valuing children hasn’t moved on a jot in the last 30 years.

Are you from Ireland?

If you are then you know how dangerous these people are. Apart from McGregor and his own mates being extremely violent, his sister is involved with the kinahan gang . These people walk into pubs and shoot people for debts, if in the hutch gang, look at someone crooked, sometimes they get the wrong person.

The Gardai are afraid of them, these people don't give a fuck about courts, Gardai, anyone, they fear no one !

There is absolutely no way if Dee left him would she remain alive !!

She also has the money to live anywhere in the world.

What do you think she should do and what should happen to the children? They just have to live with it all do they?

@EvilsElsasPetSnowman you are lucky that you have no idea about abusive relationships.

She cant just leave him. Its not that easy.
He is a violent rich rapist with contacts.
Where would she turn to? Social services? What are they going to do?

His rape victim had her house broken into by masked intruders and her husband stabbed.

Imagine what he would do his partner if she tried to take her kids?

you are lucky that you have no idea about abusive relationships.

Please read my post above, and perhaps don’t assume things about people. I’ll await an apology. Having experience of DV doesn’t mean you have to believe that all women are totally powerless victims.

She cant just leave him. Its not that easy.

I don’t agree. It’s not easy but she can leave him and she is in a hell of a better position to than most.

Where would she turn to? Social services? What are they going to do?

Yes (and they would look to safeguard - do you not know how child protection works??). Or women’s aid. Or a family member, or a journalist, or the police, or the many many people she will have at her disposal.

What do you suggest she does?

If he was present when no.

But it would be far easier to orchestrate leaving when you are wealthy, Your situation is well known and you have the support of services. It can happen and women do it all the time. It’s no excuse to keep your children living with a violent man when you could leave instead

Wth? What is the point of the trial then?! Terrible 😢

To establish his responsibility and therefore whether she will be compensated for her injuries. Hopefully he will take a huge financial hit.

mathanxiety · 22/11/2024 23:16

KarlaKK · 22/11/2024 19:01

Disgusting person. I've read he has to pay Nikita compensation but does anyone know why he won't be considered for a custodial sentence?

Because this was a civil case, not a criminal case.

mathanxiety · 22/11/2024 23:15

No, it was a civil case. He was found liable for her injuries due to rape. Civil liability is not the same as a criminal conviction. The court will decide the financial restitution she will recover from McGregor.

BarbaraHoward · 22/11/2024 23:07

Horrified this thread about a man's assault of a woman is descending into slagging off another woman.

I don't know much about McGregor's partner, but we know how hard it is for women to leave in normal circumstances. Leaving someone with McGregor's resources, temper and connections would be terrifying.

@EvilsElsasPetSnowman genuine question. Do you think he would really let her leave with his kids?
Do you really truly believe there would be no violent repercussions for her?

If he was present when no.

mollyfolk · 22/11/2024 22:50

Apologies now - she is not married she is going out with. Couldn't edify my post. Her boyfriend is apparently a long time associate of McGregor's. My point is that they all live in a bubble of some of the most dangerous people.

Well she is in a weaker position for having never married him really: they have been engaged for 4 years I think.

She lives in this very violent and dangerous world full of violent and armed men. Drimnagh (where his pub is) is only a couple of miles away from me but I think it's very hard to put myself in her shoes. It's so far removed from anything I have experienced.

Even if she believes him, she was heavily pregnant at the time, with a baby already. And he had spent the entire weekend partying and off his head with a suite booked to take girls too.

I'm just happy not to be her.
