  • a gamekeeper's wife 😳
  • a wife of an American military bod probably divorced
  • living in a cottage in a small village in the Scottish Highlands
  • living in Tennessee in a very Christian environment

How about you?

OP posts:
Tessasays · 22/11/2024 15:22

• deeply unhappy wife of an employed bum
• wife of a massively overweight soil technician (whatever that is)
• god knows, because I haven't seen him in years despite living in the same town, I assume wife of a person who makes conservatory doors 🤷🏼‍♀️
• still a DV victim

glad I left all of those situations

Obimumkinobi · 22/11/2024 15:19
  • Married to a posh but sweet human rights lawyer who was surprisingly good in the sack.
  • Living with a fun but narcissistic TV executive, who would have always had other women on the side.

😁

Hadjab · 22/11/2024 15:19

Married to a very hot Irish solicitor.

OutrageousImmoral · 22/11/2024 15:16

A widow. Or would I? Could I (or anyone) have saved him? 💔

mamajong · 22/11/2024 14:52

Gosh, I could have been serially cheated on and abused or a farmers wife. Dodged a fair few bullets in my time!

crostini · 22/11/2024 14:52

Some of these sound like really fun alternate lifetimes!

Others not so much haha

user1471538283 · 22/11/2024 14:52

I would be with the love of my life but I don't know if I would be happy because god forbid he ever put me first before his huge family and friends. The same family that has scattered across the globe.

AlbertAvocado · 22/11/2024 14:50

Married to an electrician dealing with his massive intertwined family... Married to a carpenter and trying to keep up with the Jones as he was LL about appearances... Married to a teacher living way up North with 2.4 children etc...

Nothing very exciting really tbh.

UmbrellaEllaEllaElla · 22/11/2024 14:49

Living in Canada

Living in Kansas

Bored out of my skull!

Having really bad sex...moving towards the dead bed

A stepford wife feeling isolated and lonely

Having great adventures, feeling very treasured and living by the sea

(All different exes obviously!)

Interesting concept for a thread:

  1. Living in Munich and married to a patent officer. I probably would have been happy with him but we were young and it was a LDR and didn't work out for that reason.
  2. Living in an expensive house in the South East and married to the chief executive of a large company, dressing up to go to corporate events and living that kind of lifestyle and not very happy because it really isn't me (He was a very nice guy though)
  3. Married to an obnoxious twat who is an electrical engineer and I'd definitely be contemplating divorce
  4. Living on a farm in the wilds of Derbyshire with a retired academic who turned out to be gay, he still isn't out.
  5. Tearing my hair out trying to get lazy cocklodger to get a job and stick to it rather than living with me at my expense and sitting on the sofa eating pizza with one hand while on the internet up to 20 hours a day.
  6. Living where I am now but constantly living in fear of whether 'D'P would be coming in drunk or not, or if he'd be showing up at all. He's never got any better - lives nearby and moves from woman to woman, just as long as he doesn't actually have to get his own place and pay for it.

And currently single and happy with that after what I've been through. Number 1 and 2 from my younger years were the best but at the time they weren't right either because they were ready for more commitment and I just wasn't at that time. And number 2 was just too corporate and I'm very outdoorsy, rolling around in mud etc.

Dead, ex-husband was abusive and had plans to take me to another country and dispose of my body

😮

IAmNeverThePerson · 22/11/2024 14:41

possibly regretting my choices

super fit doing hyrox - definitely regretting my choices

Wherewhatnow · 22/11/2024 14:41

Living with an abusive, now-transwoman
Supporting a man-child in his parent's house
Living in Spain with a pilot

I'll take the life I have over any of them

HarkALark · 22/11/2024 14:28

If relationships had worked out I'd have been:

  1. A vicar's wife in the Irish Republic
  2. The wife of an itinerant chef in SW
  3. In debt, abused & very lonely in Wales
  4. Living in the Midlands with an engineer
  5. A musician's wife in a house by the sea

Instead I'm single, quietly happy with my life, and reflecting on how almost none of those lives would've made me happy.

myonlinelife86 · 22/11/2024 14:25

A) child very young (I terminated) with a lay a bout still picking up all his crap!

B) very financially secure living between London and South Africa but.... I suspect miserable and lonely!

twattydogshavetwattypeople · 22/11/2024 14:25

Serving a long prison sentence for murder.

twattydogshavetwattypeople · 22/11/2024 14:19

Almost certainly the sole earner in the marriage.

Notbinday · 22/11/2024 14:18

I would have been with -

  • a man who didn’t work or study but claimed he was a ‘genius’ and who probably would have underachieved in life and not brought in any money but left everything to me
  • a man who didn’t work and is now chain smoking weed and calls himself semi-retired (even though he didn’t work) and he has definitely been like that all his life since his early 20s and he is now 60 (they don’t change)
  • a man who sadly had early onset dementia and died in a care home so I would have been a carer and widowed relatively young
genericbrunette · 22/11/2024 14:05

Married to a Mormon being frowned upon by his family for drinking tea & coffee. Probably a SAHM with 3-7 children

Not married to a nice local lad never getting on the property market, 1-2 children, low income

Married to a guy in the army living in digs 2-3 children, no extended family

Unhappily married to a financially abusive man but in a gorgeous house and good holidays. 2 children.

I wonder if men would answer this question in the same way. I somehow doubt it.

They’d say they’d be exactly who they’d always been

I'm interested in how people are answering. Some giving a lot of detail on jobs, area and income. When I think of my exes I just think of why I walked out and the emotional/mental feelings they remind me of...

I wonder if any of our exes would stalk us and wonder if their kid would be as bright/attractive/healthy/wealthy as ours - I somehow doubt it. More likely men would remember having sex in some place/way and not much about our personalities or jobs.

It's an interesting thought experiment for how people perceive relational importance.

Sortalike · 22/11/2024 13:34

Married to an Anesthetist (lovely chap, still friends now)
Married to a petrol head and staying at home while he travelled the world with a race team
Divorced
Dead
Widowed

Incredibly happily married to current DH who is an absolute superstar and I'm glad I found him after a few dodgy ones.

Bewareofthisonetoo · 22/11/2024 13:31

Interesting thread!

  • widowed at 40
  • married to a fat retired school teacher and living in Harrogate
  • married to a philanderer and living in a boring Home Counties suburb
  • married to a penniless musician
  • married to a Dutchman and living in Moldova
  • still married to my abusive exh who was richer than he claimed and totally hoodwinked me over finances

Asi it I am happily divorced, living in a fantastic location, two great kids and financially secure and independent

Snowpaw · 22/11/2024 13:29

A possible convert to Judaism

A lonely lady who watches her BF play computer games all hours of the day

A "mother hen" figure to a man-child who sleeps in till noon

A beekeeper's wife who would probably be being cheated on

drspouse · 22/11/2024 13:26

Divorced from someone who is actually now in the same profession as me (but junior, ha) and got there via the dole and, reportedly, addiction.

barbarahunter · 22/11/2024 13:21
  • married to a feckless twat who would be continuing to sponge off me
  • married to a man with severe mental health issues who would continue to blame me for his own inadequacies
  • married to a man who put his mother and family before me

I have had some narrow escapes.
