If I'd stayed in my marriage

I'd be subjected to coercive sex every 48 hours
I'd come home from work to not even a hello, and wonder what I'd done to deserve the silent treatment again.
I'd have to look at a small man every day and my mental health would be destroyed.

Luckily I left and built my wonderful l, filled with love and fun.

I wonder if men would answer this question in the same way. I somehow doubt it.

They’d say they’d be exactly who they’d always been

Probably...

  • Miserable
  • Miserable
  • Miserable...

You get the idea

So your point probably stands!

Just a guess.

RMNandthensome · 22/11/2024 17:52

Sectioned from losing my mind, or in prison for murder. Glad im single these days and dont have to put up with narcissist behaviour 😂

Chillilounger · 22/11/2024 17:38

Living abroad with a teacher
Very bored somewhere down south (due to the man not the location)
Like ships that pass in the night (chefs wife)
Very unhappy but probably rich
Very unhappy and abroad (player)
Wife of a struggling Musician

My real life DH is lovely - I think I chose well.

endingintiers · 22/11/2024 17:30
  • widowed in my early 40s (x2 times)
  • living in a tiny house we couldn’t afford with someone who spent all their time down the pub and prone to aggression

I’ve only had a few serious relationships - not really much idea what happened to any flings!

PreBlendOils · 22/11/2024 17:30

An emotional punch bag for a selfish, spiteful narcissistic stoner. Living in a caravan on the side of the road spending my days ringing everyone in my contact list trying to borrow a tenner.

Wife of a Jordan Peterson fan and living in his mums spare room. If anyone asked us why we'd scream that we were 'helping' (by living rent free and scrounging off a pensioner).

Wife of a satellite engineer that had been dragged on Jeremy Kyle to take a lie detector test to prove I hadn't cheated on him, even though he shagged everything that moved.

Thank God I'm now single! 🤣🤣

Wonderi · 22/11/2024 11:24

How old are you OP?

I assume these were pretty serious relationships at the time?

(Not judging, I am ND and often wonder if I am odd for not having more relationships and choosing to spend most of my life single).

I'm 69. I had forgotten the possibly dead one as did so many daft things in my young days! Yes they were all serious relationships.

Sone great ones here - the Elvis impersonator 😂😂

  1. He told me yoga is evil. He also sang musical theatre songs in that legs-akimbo-belting-while-gazing-ahead style. I cringed enough then; can't imagine it now.
  2. A farmer's wife overseas, forbidden to speak English to any children that might come along and with a controlling MIL (with her own key, of course) that once called me from her house across the way to shout at me for having my shutters open during a lovely lightning storm.

I really do love my life, now I have thought about what might have been!

pinksheetss · 22/11/2024 16:10
  • living in America (probably miserable though)
  • really rich
IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 22/11/2024 16:06

..., but most "could have been" responses assuming that their ex- partner's life would have been exactly the sane with them, as without them.

I could say "living in Scotland", but my ex may not have decided to move to Scotland in the version of his life with me; or "mother of twins" - I have an ex who I has twins, but it's unlikely that he'd have had them with me

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 22/11/2024 16:04

Rich!

ChocolateTelephone · 22/11/2024 15:53
  1. living in Sussex, tripping over my husband’s muddy boots after he left them in the hall upon coming home from an archaeological dig. Probably broadly content but bored, knowing that things were good enough but not quite right.
  2. the wife of a successful author currently on a press tour for his third novel, resentfully watching him charm absolutely everyone while knowing myself that he can’t live without constant performative devotion
  3. living in Inverness with three spaniels and some very muddy, outdoorsy children all conceived without me ever having had an orgasm
  4. the wife of a diplomat, wondering if being married to a woman was impeding her career while trying to manage her extreme mood swings and ride the highs and lows

Thankfully none of these did last, because I found my husband instead and I honestly think he and I were put on Earth for the purpose kr being perfect for one another and I am, largely, ecstatically content with my life.

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 22/11/2024 15:53

Tessasays · 22/11/2024 15:46

Someone said having really bad sex and id like to add, I've had probably have bought
myself some sort of sex wetsuit, bloody hell it was lying at the bottom of niagra falls the amount that man could sweat during sex, and his arm would give in and he'd just colapse on me 😭🤢

Arraminta · 22/11/2024 15:41

Married to a beige, prissy, jealous, sexually inadequate civil servant, counting every penny whilst living in a tepid 3 bed-semi in Hull. In other words, dead!

Married to a breathtakingly beautiful, bookish, witty but miserly, self centered bloke in Yorkshire. Who has now clearly aged very, very badly and is portly, with hairy ears and likes the beer too much.

Very, very happy I ended up with DH.

marginallyawake · 22/11/2024 15:29
