My kids have all four grandparents still, I meant they also know two out of four great grandparents as they are still around.

I think there is a big difference in six years. I was noticably more tired at 35 than I was at 32 and that was only half the time.

Seems you have already made your mind up though so not sure what purpose this thread serves.

What I meant was you were not that much younger than me when you had your last. I had my daughter back in 2015 and I don’t feel any difference today…as in health wise I’m very energetic and feel great no issues whatsoever. 🙂

Are you noticeably more tired though because you’ve aged 3 years, or because you’ve had 2 kids and are running around after them?

i was noticeably more tired when my kids were in primary school and I was working, keeping on to of the house, school runs etc.

now one is at uni and one doing a’levels I am much less tired as I am working, doing half the housework, no having to get up to get them ready and breakfasted and drop them at childcare/school before doing a full days work, picking them up, feed, bedtime, tidy/clean the house, go to bed, repeat. Now I get up, work, come home, gym, relaxing dinner, maybe chuck a wash on.

two of my grandparents died before I was born. My kids only had 3 grandparents before they were born. Nothing to do with age, just circumstance.

I’m 41 and my kids have both sets of grandparents still and they do loads with them. So my kids are very lucky! To be fair! I think 6 years difference from 35 to 41 is not that big off a deal but that’s me. My opinion…

Such a weird thread that seems more 'netmums'...

My personal cut off was 35. I personally think 40+ is too old but that is my own personal circumstances. I didnt want to be an old mum, I wanted my kids to have time with their grandparents (they know 2 sets of great grandparents too) and grow up with their cousins.

But that suits me. I was lucky enough to find my husband early to have mine ar 32 and 35. I appreciate not everyone has that.

What’s weird if you don’t like what I put in my posts then why read it??why does it get you angry… when it’s nothing to do with you…. Now that’s weird lo

There was nothing weird about your og post. It's your reaction to responses!

Why do you think I'm angry? Do you get angry at mumsnet posts? I have so many things in my life to be angry or upset about and mumsnet doesn't even come close to even being on those list of things.

Shaz83 · 21/11/2024 12:54

It's on an open forum.

It's not strange to reply to posts. Other posters have commented on posts where you haven't directly reply to them, are they all weird too?

What's weird is giving a shit about what others deem is too old for them to have kids and getting all wound up about it when they say younger than 42.

ok….no need to sound so angry 😡 😂

I aren't saying anyone is too old. I am saying that it would be too old FOR ME. For MY circumstances. If people haven't lived the same life and had the same experiences their opinions on whether they feel they are too old for babies are obviously going to differ.

As I said way back on page one, I was done by 23. I was significantly more disabled by 28, so if I hadn't had DC I wouldn't have had any.

I am now 34 and I couldn't go ahead with a pregnancy. Whereas peers are only just starting

You need to stop being so defensive if you literally ask for people's opinions

did I say you said it’s too old…. No I didn’t… I’m saying others are using the word too old…. They need to express that in different wording… because it makes one feel they are ancient thankfully I don’t think I am….
if I turn around to you and said your too old in that context would you like it??
come to think of it I should of worded my own post differently but hey I put my hands 🙌 to that! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why is 35 a cut off for you?

I didn’t want to be any older while having responsibility for children. I wanted to head into an earlier retirement where I can travel, be less hands on with kids, and boost the chances of being a fit grandparent. All these things are not a given or a certainty of course, but collectively they formed part of my reasoning for having children before 35. 😊 All just personal reasons

K0OLA1D · 21/11/2024 12:37

Shaz83 · 21/11/2024 12:33

how old are you btw? And no one likes to be told they are too old….. I think women need to be kind to each other on here there are too many angry people on it…and be careful how they word things on here…. There are ways of telling someone they are too old in a way were the person won’t feel like omg I’m ancient! Because I know I ain’t!

I don't think 42 is too old. But it is for ME and lots of other posters. Pointing this out though apparently makes you angry...

My mum had my sister at 45, i had my two at 29 and 31. Circumstances. Why OP - are you older and want a baby or something? Or are you a journo?

Edited

Shaz83 · Today 11:53

I’m 41 and want 1 more in the future 6th baby.. (always wanted a big family) as there was 10 of us was amazing my parents were amazing! but may not now because of my age…and just concentrate on the ones I’m blessed with. Considering I struggled with secondary infertility for 6 years 3 miscarriages then to finally get my babies. I’m currently pregnant with 5th baby
