Apoplectic that ITV have chosen Queen Camilla to host a documentary highlighting the domestic abuse of women when she was King Charle's OW for many years and complicit in his abuse of Princess Diana.

World gone mad!

grow up. One could equally say that the posters harping on about Camilla clearly don’t give a fuck about victims of domestic violence.

That is missing OP's point though, the whole point of the thread.

Great, lets hope all the negative nancies get it deleted and then it takes away the promotion of the programme on here. Well done OW lovers.

For a start, no Camilla is not Queen... She is and should be titled Queen Consort. Because that is what she is.
I have not been a royalist for many years, I have no time for them. But I do quite like Camilla.
And if domestic violence is a cause she chooses to support and a programme is made about it, which is including her support, then who gives a shit who she is and what she's done? Does it really matter if it's her or some celebrity female?
I'm sick of all this holier than thou postulation. Camilla and Charles should have been allowed to marry in the beginning. As for Diana, she was chosen for him purely because of her lineage. He didn't love her, he never did. It was to provide heirs to the throne and that is all. She was young and inexperienced when she became engaged then married. And as time went on, she didn't get the attention she'd have expected from her husband.
In affairs, it takes two to tango, she didn't force anyone to sleep with her! It truly pisses me off when people never blame the other party imvolved.
Anyway I digressed there, good on Camilla for the campaign, let her get on with it!

Regarding william

I just think it's a but much that a man who comes from a family with multiple palaces, -

A familt who have more homes than they could ever need, while people are living on the street:

talks about homelessness.

Mumsgirls · 11/11/2024 21:26

Well it’s about as credible as William being the homelessness expert

EdithWeston · 11/11/2024 21:25

Sylviacrystal · 11/11/2024 21:23

Couldn't William help homelessness by you know, - getting the royal family to house homeless people in one palace?

His project is looking at far more than bricks and mortar

Genevieva · 11/11/2024 21:25

Both Diana and Charles were unfaithful. Both forgave each other and had a good relationship after their divorce. If they were able to move on then you should too. I think it’s quite offensive to equate Diana’s situation with that if women who are subject to domestic violence and coercive control. Camilla has spent decades supporting women who have experienced these struggles. Maybe take the time to find out why she is creating the documentary with ITV before you rush to judgement.

I’ve reported this thread.

On a site where many women are victims of actual domestic abuse, to use a thread to slag off someone for her actions over 30 years ago, and to take away from the topic of domestic violence is disgusting.

As for the poster who compared Camilla to a paedophile, they should be banned.

You must be misguided to call it a comparison. It is the situation that is a comparison, not the person. A is to B, as C is to D.

I’m not a royalist, but I applaud Camilla for highlighting dv in this documentary. Same way that William has highlighted homelessness recently. People need to see the bigger picture and welcome anything that draws attention to these serious causes, rather than focusing on the lives of those people who are, rightly, using their positions to increase awareness.

Newsflash. Your opinion is your own. Not everyone else's. And I'm sure mumsnet will see that

weareallcats · 11/11/2024 21:21

Bat shit crazy thread.

Camilla is the queen.

Gary Glitter comment is shocking and awful.

I don't think either of them are bad. It was a shit situation that none of them should ever have been put in. I'm just amazed that people still care so much about it.

Why wouldn't we? It's unusual.

I can't think of many other countries where:

the king has had an affair, then his first wife died
and the king has gone on to marry the woman he was having an affair with.

It's unusual. People talk about it abroad.

" That charles married his side chick."

This is MN. Holding a lifetime grudge matters. Plus Diana was the nations sweetheart and Chas treat her like dirt.

mitogoshigg · 11/11/2024 21:18

Nobody knows for sure that she doesn't have first hand knowledge of domestic abuse, she doesn't say she has but it's her choice whether to share or not if she has.

If her patronage can highlight an important issue that's a good thing

Sylviacrystal · 11/11/2024 21:16

mynameiscalypso · 11/11/2024 21:14

And Diana knew exactly what she was doing when she had multiple affairs during the marriage. The whole thing was a sham in the first place.

And camilla did too. I don't get the posters on here who point out that Diana was bad for having an affair, but don't think that camilla was bad for having an affair.

How does that make sense?

Sylviacrystal · 11/11/2024 21:15

Menowhatdoyoucallit · 11/11/2024 21:12

No. Queen. When the royal is the Queen it's Prince Consort but when the royal is the King his bride is Queen.

She's not queen in a lot of people's eyes.

I think a lot of people think

Charles could have married any of the women he was having an affair with. It jsut happened to be her"

Any of his side chicks could have been queen

mynameiscalypso · 11/11/2024 21:14

OWRLOSERS · 11/11/2024 21:10

I find it hypocritical regardless of length of time and who she is.

Camilla knew exactly what she was doing to Diana by carrying on with Charles. As Diana said there were 3 in her marriage and this ultimately led to the issues, not the other way round. King Charles is nothing less than a cake eating entitled man who denied his young wife agency whilst he carried on with his sidepiece assisted by the establishment.

The hypocry of some on Mumsnet is unbelievable.

Of course the lies, gaslighting, lack of respect involved is abuse.

And Diana knew exactly what she was doing when she had multiple affairs during the marriage. The whole thing was a sham in the first place.

That was quite apparent in my earlier post, yet you chose to suggest ‘Women’s Aid think it’s all the same’.

Will leave you to it as have no interest in word salad gymnastics when anyone even remotely sensible can tell the difference between an affair and situations Women’s Aid deal with.

Eh youre bizarre.

I never one said anywhere that "women's aid think it's all the same"

Go back and show me where I said that.

You can't. Because I didn't

Menowhatdoyoucallit · 11/11/2024 21:12

Queen consort to be correct

No. Queen. When the royal is the Queen it's Prince Consort but when the royal is the King his bride is Queen.

Of course theres a scale.

No one said that womans aid have said that having an affair is the same as a man beating a woman up.

Of course there's a scale.

However Womans aid constantly talk about emotional abuse, about gaslighting and coercive control,

And how damaging it is.
