YANBU. I hate most people. My list of liked people outside my household is barely in double figures.

Alltheyearround · 09/11/2024 18:44

I know some wonderful people. I work with teenagers and mostly they are fine. I have a chronic health condition so I have to rest 50% of the time. This means a kind of self limitation on social stuff. Which is fine by me. I still have paper diaries, calendar, postcards and letters. Enjoy writing to friends. And relish seeing dear friends when I do.

I do also find a certain proportion of people out there in the world pushy, aggressive and unkind. I often wish I could grow a thicker skin, I'm sure a lot of people don't take things to heart like I do.

Maybe many of the posters here are highly sensitive people - so other people's behaviour and words grate on them especially badly?

Maybe those noisy stinky people are more happy and pleasant now you are not working with them. It sounds like a win win. Stay home OP

I agree. If you don’t know what the problem is with all the annoying people out there, the problem is likely you.

Ihateboris · 09/11/2024 18:42

God yes! I'd quite happily spend the rest of my days with my dogs, gin and a decent book....oh and LBC!

OptimismvsRealism · 09/11/2024 18:33

No I hated people before WFH
Their noise and stink and lack of empathy
WFH just means I despair less frequently

Or you could just own your own misanthropy.

If literally everyone you meet is an asshole, or everyone apart from your DH and children, then you’re either incredibly unlucky in your extended family, social circles, children’s friends’ parents, colleagues, neighbours etc etc, or it’s you.

Obviously there are awful people, but no, ‘most people’ are not ‘awful stressful rude shovey mean’.

If it is me, and I'm willing to believe menopause made me into a bitch, then why don't people leave me the fuck alone.

A pp said "be kind" no I will not be kind anymore. Thats why people treat you like shit on their shoe. And why is it only women told to be kind?

Riapia · 09/11/2024 18:39

Even the ones that seem nice are
doing it before they con you.

Those who were the dearest and those I loved the best were the very ones that hurt me most.

😳 where do you live that 5 randoms just park up on your drive?!

The Scottish Highlands on the NC500 route.

cantthinkofausername26 · 09/11/2024 18:34

I'm with you 🙌🏼

AnotherDayOfSun · 09/11/2024 18:34

It seems like people are becoming more aggressive, and in a variety of contexts, too. From neighbours picking fights to drivers honking for every little thing. If that's what you have noticed, then you are definitely not the only one. I mean, be the change you want to see and all that, but it still helps to realise that others are feeling the same way.

I live in a hygge country, I guess known for being content with our lives because it’s good enough. I’m with you @Didshejustsaythatoutloud, I’m a preschool teacher and in 25 years I can honestly say that most of the parents I’ve met and colleagues I’ve had are really nice people. I’m so thankful to talk to them every day, even though I’m often extremely tired after work. My colleagues have become such good friends and I’d be bored out of my brain staying at home every day.

I think that the more you work from home the more you hate people and think the world is shit. It’s only your few friends who happen to be nice and good people. It’s not true.

Nope. But menopause gives you /me the green light/excuse, to say what you feel. Some people like the directness, others don't. The point is the less of a f#£k you give. Embrace it 😂

I just feel this is telling me what I knew when I was 17!

No problem, OP.
I'm waiting to be completely on my own, so I can just shut the apartment door behind me.
Have my own seasons, birthdays, Christmasses.
Or whatever else.

I’m normally a people person but not today. 5 camper-vans parked in my drive didn’t get the day off to a good start. In the end a tractor was involved to remove them so I could get out. I’m peopled out today with their stupidness and rudeness.

Disturbia81 · 09/11/2024 18:20

I am out and about mixing with people all day long and most people are good and nice.

Errolwasahero · 09/11/2024 18:15

I often feel a bit like you op, then I see something like I saw this morning, someone local on fb reaching out for help and within minutes total strangers had come together to help them out. I see it so often I have to accept that most people are good, at heart. We’re all just trying to make it through the day, really. Little kindnesses help make it all worthwhile.

happybluedog · 09/11/2024 18:13

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 09/11/2024 17:52

No no no no no. Most people are wonderful, they really are. You are worrying me because you sound like my adult son.
I work in a hospital and patients say "oh it must be horrible doing your job with all the horrible abusive patients" but NO,.... most people are lovely and kind. Don't let a few twats cloud your view of the majority of people in the UK.
I'm sorry you feel like this 💐

There is a certain irony of people trying to connect online to other people to moan about how much they hate people.

username7891 · 09/11/2024 18:10

It's not people so much as TV 'personalities'. I have no patience for their inanity.

Hedjwitch · 09/11/2024 18:08

Well I was out selling poppies today and chatted with so many warm, friendly and generous people I felt quite uplifted. From those handing over a few coins with an apologetic " that's all I've got" to those with larger banknotes and an airy " keep the change". Children who are in scouts, beavers, brownies etc getting their poppy to wear in parades tomorrow, to the immaculately turned out Cadets who gave me a polite " thank you ma'am" when I put money in their tin.
I saw nothing but good today.

I don't understand women who say this. Did you just like everyone until menopause? I never did. If anything since my hormones have started to dip I'm more tolerant and understanding. I get WHY people are as they are the poor things
... But they're still cocks I don't wanna talk to

InThePinkScarf · 09/11/2024 18:03

I know I am a kind and thoughtful person, people tell me all the time. But they also abuse it everytime. So I am done with people.

OptimismvsRealism · 09/11/2024 17:56

I'm v glad people like you exist but honestly I cannot bear it. If my work tried to make me go back to the office I would lose my mind. Being around other people is a physical discomfort to me

(Except for close friends and family - those are fine but the trouble is how to see them without being exposed to other people Out There)

Aw honey, I just don't want you to miss out on interacting with interesting people. Life is to be lived. (She says with her jammies on, eating a Chinese takeaway at 6pm on a Sat night) 😂
