Could you be with a man who would have voted Trump?

Trumpz · 06/11/2024 21:04

Just that really.

My husband doesn't love Trump exactly but said tonight he would have voted for him and he hopes Trump will "dismantle the deep state".

Could you be with a Trump voter? Interested in people's views.

No, nor a Tory, core values and moral codes are really important to me. I wouldn't have a friend or a partner who subscribed to views I find abhorrent

Circumferences · 06/11/2024 21:56

When the choice is that bad..... Voting trump is forgivable.

MumOfOneAllAlone · 06/11/2024 21:56

I think I could, and I've given it some thought

I grew up with a 'feminist, socialist, leftie' sd

He was a man who hid behind these things to disguise how fucking useless he was. Treated my dm terribly And it turned out none of his politics were actually upheld by him when it mattered. Bellend.

Just because a man has correct politics, it doesn't make him a decent husband. I've met a fair few men with liberal ideals who have been shocking partners.

As long as he was strong, protective and family focused, I could x

Could I ask why? What does he think Trump will bring that Harris will not? I ask that question in a non confrontational way, purely out of interest.
Again, how does he/they feel about the things Trump has said about women? I genuinely don't mean it to sound like I'm provoking an argument but when he said 'you can grab their pussy' 'when you're a star'. I'd be interested in how general pro-Trump voters respond to things like this

Of course you can. I don’t take it in a confrontational way. I have friends who vote for a different political party to myself and we respect each others views.

He voted for trump because he agrees with the policies. And largely about the economy, taxes and securing the borders - against illegal immigration, not all immigration.

He doesn’t agree with things he’s said about women. But voting for one party over another doesn’t mean you have to agree with everything the leader says.

LastNight1Dreamt1WentToManderleyAgain · 06/11/2024 21:52

Keeping men out of women's spaces (except women's 'downstairs').
World peace (civil war at home when it suits).
Etc.

Dabralor · 06/11/2024 21:50

I'd have been out the moment he mentioned 'deep state'. Instant ick.

H just said "I don't like Trump but Kamala represents the globalist status quo agenda".

Fucking hell.

What is the globalist status quo agenda?

Rain11 · 06/11/2024 21:48

wheeliegood · 06/11/2024 21:12

@Rain11 I find myself I a lefty vacuum these days. Not being goady, genuinely interested in why?

World peace
-Strong economy
-Low inflation
-Strong national defense, stronger military
-Energy independence
-Combatting the trans agenda and keeping men out of women's spaces and women's sports
-Securing borders
-Support for police
-Jobs
-No tax on tips
-Free Speech
-Protection of the second amendment
-Safer foods
-Infrastructure

-Election integrity via Voter ID.

  • Prosecution of all that have committed treason and silenced American voices by denying their rights.

-Overtime benefits for the nuclear-family include no tax on overtime pay.

-RFK Jr. leading the way to healthier public school meals for children.

-Homeless Veterans being provided an answer instead of questioning why they are left behind by the democrats.

-Welfare to Americans only, not illegals.

-Homeschooling families will receive $10,000 tax-free per year per child for their services to educate their own children.

-Lowering cost of energy and the bills associated with the use of electricity.

  • Returning essential medicines to the Americans that have been backlogged and in dire need of it to survive.
  • Death penalty held with no compromise for anyone engaged in human trafficking.

-Removing Marxism from public schools and banning mental illness from being taught to the American youth (trans agenda).

There are many more reasons to vote for Trump... no reasons to vote for Harris. She is a brainless puppet and a liar. Her policies are 💩.

This is my opinion, each to their own. I'm very happy Trump won.

I won't engage in a debate with anyone here, I'm just answering your question because you asked politely, and you seem genuinely curious about it.

Some people over here don't like to read different opinions and can get very belligerent and rude. I simply won't answer anyone who resorts to insults or tries to ridicule me or others simply because they don't agree with different ideas or ways of thinking.

We live in a free country, and in a democracy, people are entitled to have their own opinions.

susiedaisy1912 · 06/11/2024 21:48

Wouldn't bother me. Most men deep down hate women regardless of how they vote in my experience.

Hfddxboohhhgvvcdd · 06/11/2024 21:48

RisingSunn · 06/11/2024 21:07

Yes - it’s not always about the “person” but the policies.

But the policies are the problem

HellsBalls · 06/11/2024 21:47

Billyandharry · 06/11/2024 21:18

I can't believe someone's honestly asking this question.

Don’t fret. Just a coping mechanism as Kamala lost. A few likes and conciliatory comments and it will all be ok.

smooththecat · 06/11/2024 21:43

Dismantle the deep state 😂. Listening to Joe Rogan and puffing out your chest to protect da womb is not gonna dismantle the deep state. Musk, Trump ARE the deep feckin state and they’re laughing rn.

Nope. Fortunately mine wouldn’t entertain the idea and he’s a dyed in the wool Tory.

sprigatito · 06/11/2024 21:36

Of course not. No woman with an ounce of self respect would be with a man who voted a violent rapist into power.

Mammyofonlyone · 06/11/2024 21:34

Emilyjayne9421 · 06/11/2024 21:26

Yes, my husband is American (I’m not) and voted for Trump, as did most of his family which included women.

KohlaParasaurus · 06/11/2024 21:25

Yes, I could, in theory, though it would depend upon his reason for voting for Trump. The same applies to Harris; tempting though it is, I wouldn't necessarily assume that a Democrat voter shares my own core values.

It’s not particularly a Democrat v Republican thing. I could live with someone voting Republican.

I can’t however make peace with someone who is a convicted felon and rapist and who is on record boasting about sexual assault. And who tried to take power through an insurrection and who is sponsored by Vladimir Putin and has spent much of the past decade trying to undermine the fabric of democracy in the world’s most powerful country.

Call me a fastidious woke liberal but you gots to have some red lines.

I voted Farage too. I vote for those who say it as it is and don't bullshit everyone.

I take it you're in Clacton? How do you feel about him not taking surgeries?

My last husband revealed right-wing views after we married. Now we are not married. I'm in your imaginary 80% because I take my politics seriously!

freepend · 06/11/2024 21:32

Sorry, I'm prob lying being naive but is this post aimed at Americans? I'm new to Mumsnet, I'm in UK so not sure if this is a worldwide post? Genuinely curious so please advise if I'm wrong!

Yes absolutely- Trump is who the us needs.

My skin would crawl at the idea.

SnapdragonToadflax · 06/11/2024 21:22

No, and equally I wouldn't be with someone who voted Tory (or Reform, obvs). Our morals and beliefs would just be too far apart, and I would have no respect for him.

It sounds like your DH has gone way too far down an internet rabbit hole - does he watch a lot of TikTok or YouTube?
